I had Fenris in my party(), so he chimed in and pretty much said "STFU" to Anders. I also made no passes at Anders throughout the game and had no romantic involvement with him. However, I did have his friendship maxed. If Fenris wasn't in my party, does this conversation still happen, and does the game actually give you the chance to "change your mind" that late? (Anders suggest that you should be with someone more "open minded"? [LOL])

I thought it happened during 'Justice'. As I had a save just before the sewers (Fenris rivalmanced/Anders friendly, never flirted with the latter) I just loaded it and took Fenris out of the party. Anders still asks. I doubt there's the option to change your mind so late.

I had an option to tell Anders that Fenris left Hawke. I tried it on a reload and Anders looked cheery and suggested that Isabella might be happy to step in and take Fenris's place. Fenris, who was there, said nothing for this option. Isabella said... something I forgot, but it was probably amusing.

He didn't. That Hawke had slept with Isabella before Fenris, so that might be why he volunteered her.

Edit: Also, I never tried the bottom dialogue.  I don't remember what it was, either.

It probably not possible for him to offer himself, then. If you sleep with Anders, it ends the Fenris romance, either before or after.

Well, it seems to work for others, but I don't remember seeing any options to flirt with Anders after Hawke slept with Fenris. I had opportunities to flirt with Merrill, though.

This happened with my rogue Hawke, despite the fact that she had full rivalry with Anders and full friendship with Fenris.
Anders was like 'Why do you want to be with Fenris? He's not very sympathetic to our plight.'
And she was like 'What the hell are you talking about? I've been handing mages over to the Templars since Act 1.'

Anders dumped my Hawke in my most recent game. He DOES have some standards! I have to admit, he was decent with the breakup, but very clear that my Hawke is morally reprehensible. I thought that was a great moment.

Edit: I do find it interesting that Anders confronts Hawke about their LI.  I knew he did with Fenris, but I figured that was because he genuinely hates him.

I get the feeling he's in love with Hawke no matter what. This doesn't disavow the lonely, sad man part, it's just an addendum. If you romance him, he mentions he's "lain awake aching" for Hawke for three years. Three years! The questioning of other romances leads me to believe this is the case even when he's not romanced. Unlike Fenris and Bela who seem to hook up with each other if left to their own devices, or Merrill for whom love's never mentioned outside of a romance, Anders genuinely seems to be pining.

I have to say I agree with all of this.  And the change to the Ander thread title is both apropriate and hilarious.

And here I was sceptic about the whole idea... I am still, but now only a little

I know he says nothing at all if your character is single. 

Which might be for the best. If my single Hawkes heard the 'aching for you" line they might feel the need to get a restraining order. ...Or try to see if Holy Smite has any effect on Anders.

ORLY? Why did he do that? Did you resume a relationship with Fenris or something?

Anders dumps you if you make the deal with Tropor in Night Terrors quest (and you bring him along) the option to attack him even has a broken heart icon. 

Though if you change your mind and kil Tropor later you can make up to Anders by telling him it was a trick.

No.  You can't get back with Fenris once you're with Anders.  MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD

I made a deal with the demon in the fade when Anders/Justice was in the party.  That went down completely unexpectedly (Anders CAN drop from the group and try to kill you in the fade).  Afterwards, he dumped my Hawke.

Edit: Gah, yeh, what Ryzaki said.  I wasn't expecting it, and I had only picked a couple of flirt icons, but Anders does a whole breakup.  It's actually kind of cool.

As Goldens said, it happened just as we got to the sewer entrance.  My Hawke really did want to smack them both at that point.

Anders questioned my romance with Merrill as well.
Anders started the conversation with "maybe its not my place to say but..." and when i chose the bottom option Hawke responded with: "Your right. Its not your place" +5 rivalry with Anders

When i chose the top option Merrill chimed in and was not too happy with Anders.
