Glad to say it worked.. Really enjoyed my first play through.
I think the story is good, great characters, combat a little hectic but getting used to the different pace.
It feels a bit too modern looking for the setting and I wish the UI had a more classic feel and the items had more character but I understand attention was greater elsewhere, and I can't say it was exactly a game breaker.
I really hope EA gives them more time on DA3 because the with right combination of DA:O and DA2 for it would make for an amazing experience.
DA2 is not as bad as some people have been saying in bizzare extremes. Given another year it would of been a masterpiece but it still isn't crap by any means.
Looking forward to the DLC to be honest.
EDIT: One thing I wil say though being an actor myself. In most games and in this, when someone interupts a character it feels very contrived and there's far too much of an anticipated pause in between.
I don't know how difficult it is to convey this in games could be very difficult to portray it but it's definately something they should work on.
I know I could get flamed to hell for this but still.........

Did I have issues with the 'ending'? Yes
Did I otherwise love the game and would have no problem if DA3 was (mostly) more of the same? Yes
... though I also think things would be a lot better if they'd called it Dragon Age: Kirkwall and not implied it as a direct successor to DA:O

In short, I love DA2. I'm having more fun than I expected to, and I really hope BioWare continues in this direction for the next game.

While I was in Act 1 and 2 I defended the game (on other forums) against various flamers. But now, after finishing my first playthrough, and having no desire to play it again, I don't think I will.
Fortunately, at least combat remains fun all the way through, except for certain boss fights (ARW, Arishok).

Another issue that has REALLY spoiled my game play is the fact that I have yet to receive all my DLC content. I'm still missing Adder of Antiva, Might of Sten and some shield I can't think of off the top of my head.
Going from Act 1 to Act 2 was strange, it almost felt like I was somewhat starting over again since you were in the same place, doing the same thing. Falls back into the whole recycled content thing.
What I do like is the combat (minus all the waves, and the VERY annoying and overpowered Rogues/Templar Hunters), the new conversation wheel, which somewhat gets rid of the shades of grey like in Dragon Age Origins, and the new look for Flemeth and the Qunari.
With the new combat system, I really wish they kept the Arcane Warrior (think that's right) specialization in, made Blood more attractive, and made it so active auras weren't such a massive burden. Having more than one in a group for Nightmare, in my opinion, is a big no no. In regards to Blood Mages, some of the NPC spells are nice, though absolutely useless in Nightmare. Oh and Shape Shift could have been AMAZING with the new combat system if done correctly. A lot of the spells feel lackluster as well, but that's what mods are for.
Pretty sure I just repeated what I said I wouldn't ;-)

I'm not gonna go so far as to call DAII the "evolution" of the RPG. I am, however, gonna call it an experiment that was worth about fifty of the sixty bucks I paid for it. Get all the bugs ironed out and I'll kick it up to about fifty-seven, fifty-eight. Pretty damned good, really. The characters come off as characters instead of designated archetypes, the story has a level of intimacy that I've never encountered in a game like this and Kirkwall felt like home.
The hate for the game is unjustified for the most part. I mean, the bugs, I get. The recycled maps, I get. The ending (subjectively, as it was kind of up my alley), I get. But come on now. Did DAII steal your dog? Key your car? Father you out of wedlock and then trick some dude you call "Dad" into raising you? I'm not saying you can't dislike the game, but I am saying that loud funereal keening makes you look like an idiot.

As for me overall I think the game is better than DAO, Hawke is a more vivid character for me, I like the combat and the quest structure. The writing in Acts 1 and 2 is amongst the strongest Bioware has ever done.
Its a bit like Kotor 2, overall the strengths of it make it a better game IMHO than Kotor 1.

I think many people are nitpicking simply because of the blatent money grabing techniques imployed in this game and are upset because it is basically EA and BioWare saying "we're going to cut corners and we think the audience is too stupid to notice". Of course if you don't closely follow BioWare or video game industry culture then you'd just pick it up and say "hmm, it's a quality game and kinda fun" and wouldn't know anything about that. Many people play the game for what it is and not what it could have been and there is nothing wrong with that. You plunk your sixty bucks down for a fun game to play and when you get one then you're satisfied.

I'm having a great time playing. I am currently on my 2nd playthrough. Yes, there are a few things I miss about DA:O, (Like more conversations with my companions) But overall I think that DA2 is a great follow-up to one of my favorite games.
~I really like the new look. I like the fact that our companions have their own armor/style.
~I'm enjoying the battles more now, because they feel more exciting. I think I'm one of the only people who happen to like the "exploding bodies". But, they are sort of a trademark to DA, and they are cool
~I love the story! Each decision Hawke makes is difficult, because I can see the repercussions down the road. There really is no middle ground, which frustrates me to no end! But, at the same time makes the game that much more rewarding to me.
~Our companions are great! They outdid themselves this time, getting some fantastic voice actors
Anyway, just wanted to say how much I like the game, and will be replaying it many more times...

I liked that it was subtle in its story and build-up. I loved that I had a chance to play a complex character who was imperfect in his morals but tried the best he could to do what was right. I liked the combat (easy to pick-up and enjoy) and the visuals (one of the best-looking fantasy games I've played).
Didn't experience any real bugs (beyond what is typical for a new game release). And the game had a decent length to it. My complaints about the game are minor and nit-picky, and I won't list them here, but they didn't hinder my enjoyment of this title. The game has my blessing.

Just glancing at the first page, it would seem like the answer is "nobody". Conversely, you can chalk the complaints up to:
1) Some people aren't happy unless they're nit-picking / ****ing.
2) People who enjoy the game are playing it (as I would be if I weren't stuck at work)
Seriously, though - what the heck? There are some things that bug me, but overall I've really enjoyed it (I'm on my second playthrough now). So raise your hand if you're having fun
Many people who dislike this game have legitimate complaints.
I overall am enjoying the game a lot. I cannot continue my playthrough, however, because of the horrible bugs plaguing this game. So hopefully i'll be able to complete my first playthrough some time this year, as it's taking a ****ing long time for a patch to be released.
