But seriously, there are apparently ways to avoid the Isabella bug, so I'll just have to make due :(

I saw this earlier today:  social.bioware.com/419394/blog/17005/ (it's a FAQ on Isabela) and in the initial post she has a link to a utility that will let you fix either the Isabela or the Sebastian bug.

Yeah, thanks for the post.  I already saw that page, but as I'm playing on console, it's pretty moot.

Sorry if I didn't mention that, but thanks anyways :).

Still enjoying it!

And I really hope the BioWare devs are looking at threads like these and paying attention to what people LIKED about DA II, as well as what people didn't like about it in critical threads.

I'm a bit a-scared that they're only paying attention to the debbie-downers out there. (Just kidding, folks. critical responses help too.)

I loved it! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though, I'm not going to slate anyone who says they didn't like it. Perhaps it's peoples expections were not met? I had no idea what to expect, I went into the game to experience it with little to no preconceptions.
Yes, I found a couple of bugs, only one of which made me do anything 'unusual' (scream at the monitor when an Origins situation wasn't recognised so the dialogue wasn't right - totally minor and not game effecting....really), but some kind person pointed out a user mod which fixed that right up so I was happy.

Overall, could it have been more? - Yes.
Did I want more? - Hell Yes, but then I'd always want more, I love it in Thedas!

I'll buy all the DLCs, and any sequels that come out for this one (like Awakenings was for Origins, even though I think that was possibly the weakest bit of Thedas so far, still mostly liked it though) and I will pre-order DA:3 when available.
If that makes me a 'fangirl' then so be it, I don't mind. :)

I initially found the game abit laborious then about the 6 hour, or so, mark it started to pick up quickly and i'm now at the end of Chapter 2.

There are issues in the game like reused maps and the aspect of not being able to change your companions armour, though I got over this in ME2, still not happy but i've let it go and the maps, well I just ignore it really. Overall though, dare I say it, the game is better than Origins, and some set pieces really freaked me out more than Origins did.

I had fun playing the game, but this IS NOT a top quality Bioware game.
Actually its the worst Bioware game I ever played. Sounds harsh, but well, the worst Bioware game is still better then most other games... Image IPB

And that does say mountains, DA2 is still so far ahead of other games, it makes me weep for the games industry, especially when you think of how much power the average home PC has and we end up having rehash upon rehash of shooters - come on developers think outside the box please.

I think what "scares" me is the polarization I'm seeing. As a for instance - some people HATE the companion armor. I actually enjoy the change. I don't enjoy micro-managing the inventory of 8 different characters, sorting through stacks and stacks of gear to compare numbers. *yawn* I would have loved it had the companions armor changed in look a little each act, or with each upgrade you found for them. That would be neat.

Then I also see statements like "worst Bioware game ever" and shake my head. We're all entitled to our individual opinions, and different people will like different things, but honestly - I think this is the best Bioware game I've played. And I'm not just saying that because of rose-colored glasses.
1) Baldur's Gate - finished it once. Bought the expansion pack but did not make it through that.
2) BG 2 - Didn't finish a single playthrough.
3) Icewind Dale - didn't finish
4) Planescape - didn't finish
5) Neverwinter Nights - Finished one playthrough
6) NWN 2 - Didn't finish
7) Mass Effect - Didn't finish
8) Mass Effect 2 - haven't played
9) Jade Empire - haven't played
10) DA: O - finished once (human noble origin), played all other origins to Ostagar.
11) DA2 - Finished once. About midway through a second playthrough. Have plans for two more playthroughs, at least. This, alone, tells me that they've done something right.

To further clarify my position before people start thinking I'm a console junkie - I don't own a console. I haven't since 1993ish when my cousin and I went in halves on a Sega Genesis because of the Sega channel :P. I have always been an fan of RPGs and have played Might and Magic 1-8, Wizardry 1 - 8, the D&D Gold Box games, Realms of Arkania, Elder Scrolls since Arena, Fallout 1-3, you name it. And that is not to say that my playing is superior to anyone else's - it is only to demonstrate that I'm older than 13 and have played just a couple of PC RPGs ;)

Heh :-) I may have to crank it back up. I freely admit I have ADD with games. Actually finishing one is pretty noteworthy. Doing back-to-back replays? This is a first-time thing for me. Seriously.

I find this statement extremely interesting! Sometimes I try to do another playthrough, last one I tried was ME2 but I just can't do it! These games are like novels to me, ones that I really enjoy. As with my collection of books, IF I've enjoyed one I just cannot (and I have tried!!) go back and re-read them. Not because I didn't like it, but because (to me) the story has been told and I remember every single little detail.
Sure, you can change things a little here and there in the game but the story 'root' is the same (more or less). Please note that this isn't a critisism from me, just my feelings on the DA (and ME to some extent) universes.

I might be one of the few people to do this, but DA2 was my first experience in the Dragon Age universe. I finished my first play through and really enjoyed it, minus the grossly recycled areas. After this, I bought the Dragon Age: Origins ultimate edition and have about half the time played as I did in DA2, yet I feel like I have already experienced twice the game/story than was present DA2. My completion percentage still shows 20-25%, so it seems like origins will have been a much more in depth and "complete" adventure upon completion, even before opening any of my DLC. I am hoping more substance is added to DA2, but I still believe it is a good game. Overall, I have been lucky to be a Bioware fan, starting with Mass Effect, although it probably means I'll be out $50-$60 bucks with every release in the future.

DA2 reminds me of Firaxis attempt in making the CIV game (Revolution) for the consoles.

Dumbed down, shallow, rushed.

The game sucked. So does DA2.

Normally I only pre-order from producers I trust. BioWare was one of those companies.

Needless to say - they're off my list.

:nods:  I totally understand what you're saying.  I'm actually fortunate in that I can re-read books and re-watch movies (at least my wallet thanks me ;)) if I wait long enough between - 6 mo. to a year, usually.  With games... hrrrrm.  I've never replayed a game from start to finish (and until I finish my second playthrough on DA2, it's not there, yet, either!) more than once.  I don't think it has to do with re-treading the same story, so much as that there's a newer, more exciting (by virtue of the fact that it's newer) game that's got my attention.  Probably once I get bored with DA2 I'll be done with it, too, judging by my past behavior with games.

Well Icewind Dale, Planescape and NWN2 are not BioWare games...  ignoring that, DA2's story and companions  are very enjoyable, actually the best yet imho and on the strength of that and only that, I love the game (the writers saved this game from a horrid death... and any measure of success this game has. is owed to them imo).

I'm currently on my 4th play through and I've enjoyed the game a great deal.

I like that all of the characters are voiced.

I like how the types of responses you give (aggressive, agreeable and such) help dictate how NPCs converse with you in the future.

I like that the skills/spells have been broken into toggles, instants, and passives thus pruning the monster tray of occasional use skills/spells I had in DA:O/A.

I was skeptical as to whether I'd like the story line when I saw the preview. The story was actually quite successful based on the amount of replay I've gotten out of the game.

I enjoy the large boss encounters that require people of my skill level (average) to micromanage the team in order to come out on top.

Yes, there are annoying bugs that the QC team SHOULD have caught before release and the difficulty scaling is a bit off--but I believe I got my moneys worth.

Thanks for the great game Bioware!

I finished my 3rd playthrough yesterday. Going to take a break now, and see what the future holds in terms of patches and content.

I really enjoyd the game in the first act.

Then my enjoyment of the game plunged in the second act when it was clear there was no overarching story, the level scaling was crap, the bugs were incessant, and that you literally saw all the maps in the entire game by the end of the first act.

Good call.  Black Isle did those ('cept for NWN2).  I tend to combine Black Isle and Bioware for some reason.  D'oh! :P

I'm enjoying the game very much. Started my fifth playthrough with a different Import (Love the Save Generator) as a Warrior and I'm having a blast so far. I'm also going to romance Izzy fully this time, curious where that'll go. :P

I like the game. I only played Mass Effect franchise in the past, so DA is definitely refreshing. What I dislike is the limited choice of teammate, especially healer.
