This was just uploaded to the Mass Effect Wiki:

Posted Image

In addition, here is the unofficial plot summary for those who haven't read it:

This novel continues the all-new, completely original story begun in the first three MASS EFFECT stories. The heroine, Gillian, was once the subject of horrifying scientific experiments, but now, after her rescue, she is beginning to master her amazing powers. But when she falls under the sway of a radical group who believes their powers make them superior to ordinary humans, she finds herself faced with a choice between her destiny ...and her humanity. - Source

I say unofficial because it is apparently exclusive to that website and I can't find it anywhere else.

Anywise, I say yay! :wizard:

So it's basically like Jack's story? Hmm. Doesn't seem particularly interesting to me. Thanks for the post though, I'm sure many people will be excited about this. :)

Thanks for posting Fiery. I can't remember if this has been mentioned, but does this link to ME3 is anyway? I always thought it would be interesting to see the books tie in a bit more with the games.

This is what bothers me: Gillian is Jack 2.0.

If real, this looks pretty cool - it's nice to see more "original" artwork like the one for Retribution rather than the fairly stock images from the first two books. Interesting to see Gillian making a return... if I recall correctly she was only 12 circa 2183 in Ascension, I wonder when this book will be taking place? Assuming that's Gillian on the cover, if this book takes place between Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 she looks older than 14-15... or maybe that's just me?

You're welcome. I think Deception is meant to be a direct prequel to ME3 in one form or another, especially considering it's out very shortly prior to ME3 (Sept. 27). That is, I do believe Gillian is, in fact, going to be in ME3.

If s**t happens TIM is somewhere near. Art is cool but story about teenager with superpower seems suspicious to me. BTW she may become a squadmate.

LOL! People already thought Jack was Gillian at some point prior to ME2.

27th Sept.

Gillian seems to be wearing a quarian suit, a nice nod to Ascension.

Since her last known location as of Ascension/ME2/Retribution was aboard a quarian vessel, this would make sense.

Is that fellow at the bottom right the biotic security chief? I forgot his name. Or maybe it's hackette, kinda looks like an admiral.

If it takes place directly before ME3, Gillian is still only 13 or 14 at most. That woman on the cover is too old (and developed) to be Gillian. Could be the artist was badly mistaken, and nobody cared enough to point out the obvious, or else the story is taking place beyond the events of the games, which would be very interesting...

Recall that Gillian was 12 in 2183. We know Deception takes place after Retribution, which itself takes place in 2186. So, an educated guess would put Gillian's age as of Deception anywhere between 15-18.

Gillian's back? Does that mean we get to see Hendel and Captain Malcolm again?

I hope Gillian's character is going to be developped in a sensible manner. I really want her to be interesting :) And TIM again? Ugh, you trouble-maker, you!
