If you can re-spec then at level 10 respec into assassin instead of shadow and get assassinate.

the only time to use archery is for companions i wouldnt really recommend going hawke archer.  if u upgrade varric with speed and fill out all the buffs and upgrades from his companion specialization he will litterally become a rapid fire cannon of doom. as for the archery tree some of the shots are useful but i wouldnt invest in the disorienting shot cause i played varric for hours once trying to get an enemy disoriented and it never happened, couldnt use makers sigh either since its apparently bugged as well.
