Can you imagine all the NPCs having a French accent?

Oh of course, it's likely it's gonna be filled with Fereldans anyway.

It will be full of Fereldans that fled the Blight and for some reason never went back ten years later despite horrible conditions.

Or bioware moves to french canada, and the game is entirely in french, without subtitles, just to troll all the haters :|

Sandal is heading to Orlais so that's obviously where we'll be heading - in what body and on what timeline is anyone's guess I suppose though.

I agree. I refuse to play this game if everybody has that horrible "French" accent. Listening to the Comtesse de Launcet makes me want to shoot myself

Bah, people were skeptical when Assassin's Creed 2 was announced to be in Italy. There most of the concern was that the accents would sound too fake (which is also, I believe, a concern for any DA game set in Orlais). But real French accents are not bad at all. I think if they can find quality voice actors (like Leliana's VA), then it'll be fine. It might be jarring for the first hour if you're not used to the accent, but then you'll adjust.

Not really much different than everyone having a British accent.

Like I said in another thread: Be grateful if they don't set the next game in Anderfels. Better a french accent than a german one. Posted Image

I agree. It sounds utterly ridiculous.

The horned one.
Whats wrong with french? I like France. I like frogs. Generally, as animals. Not as a dish.

There's no I'd be able to take it without going on a murderous rampage. Ugh, it reminds me of Marjolaine from DA:O. People tell me that you don't have to kill her, but as soon as she opened her mouth, I realized violence was the only answer.

I  disagree.  While one is a regional dialect of the actual language, the other is an off-tempo maligning of the language by a non-native speaker.

That is also my only real reason for not wanting a game in Orlais. Even real French accents really don't do a whole lot for me.

Now, if we were in, say, Thedas' expy of Russia...

I'd rather they took the franchise to a place a bit more interesting. After the Ye Olde Englande Settinge that was Ferelden, and the bland nothing that was Kirkwall the last place I want to end up is the Ye Olde France-e Settinge of Orlais.

Tevinter would be cool, as would Par Vollen. Perhaps a game that is mainly focused around the Fade or the Deep Roads. There's plenty of interesting places to go.

Anderfels, Tevinter or Orlais, aslong as they do the accents well, sound good to me.

If they all sound like Leliana, I'm all for it :) . She's got to have the greatest French accent of all time. I agree that I wouldnt want too many French accents in the game, but then again we normally have a ton of British accents anyway, which is why Varric is such a good teammate, one of the rare normal-sounding folks in the game :) . So at least if its lots of French accents instead of British accents it'd be a change of pace anyway. Hopefully there will be a fair number of normal sounding folks there too though.

If it was just a bunch of Lelianas running about Orlais?
