Surprisingly thrilling and powerful especially in stereo, considering that I had to listen to it 4-6 times over a very long flight with a contemporary hits radio station that played the same Top 20 songs in endless cycles. Though I'm sure that at one point it sounds like she's singing "You'd better go and get your mama" (instead of the more accurate "armor"), which invites much hilarity considering how the song is about a fracturing relationship and that she's the girl singing to the guy. Ahhh, the wonders of misheard lyrics.

Straight Through My Heart ~ Backstreet Boys

Backstreet's back! - though they're miles away from the old teen pop days. The producer for this track is RedOne who does collaborations with Akon and Lady Gaga, so that accounts for the familiar sleekly-polished dance-pop club-friendly sound. Noticeably, they've also jumped on the vampire bandwagon from the looks of the video. Can't say that I totally enjoy everything that they're doing - some of their newer songs are even more heavily autotuned than this track, which is a bit of an affront to their vocal abilities - but it's good to see them back in the game. As much as I hate to admit it, some of my fondest memories of the '90s come from listening to old BSB tracks. Here's hoping that they'll be around a little longer with this new album, even if as the joke goes, they really should be called the Backstreet Men as the years go by. Heh.
