the veragroove is pretty much the only local band within the phoenix, az music scene that is worth a damn. i saw them last night. they're cool dudes, too.

I like the Coki I've heard. Only know the old Nero d&b stuff - haven't heard anything from them in five-six years I think. I also dig Kode9, Skream (of course), Appleblim, and Burial. I'm gonna try to check out the other stuff you listed, thanks. Sounds like you're more into the Hyperdub/post-d&b ends of things (from my ignorant/limited understanding). How do you feel about the Hessle/Apple Pips/Hotflush stuff? I realize there's some legitimate debate about whether some or even most of it qualifies as dubstep.
I'd say you've got things pretty well-covered, then. By the way, love the mk2s. I've only got one (instead of a matched pair, since I don't do sets) but it's been great to me over the years.

there's a good reason why technics hold their value. they're built like tanks and will last forever if you take care of them. my decks, gear, and all my vinyl records are sitting in a temperature controlled storage unit. i might break them outta storage one of these days and fire up the old pitched up turntables, and assualt my neighbors' eardrums. all i know is that i'll be so out of practice that i'll beat-crash most of the time, which will be very embarassing.
i mainly stopped dj'ing due to my ability to hear began to diminish. my left ear has taken a massive beating. not only that, i also found myself becoming jaded with the scene itself, and became tired of the kiss asses who had no business playing live, and i also became sick of shady promoters balking on what was signed and agreed upon. i was also tired of legit parties being crashed by the cops. i was eventually put on their anti-rave taskforce list, subjected to many lame detainments, and basically treated like a ****g drug dealer, felon, or typical criminal piece of crap. the police were never happy that they couldn't arrest me for anything, so i was followed quite a bit by cops driving marked or unmarked squad cars.

So far this album has been dissapointment. Its not bad, better than their last Revelations Of The Black Flame album which was terrible, but not even nearly as good as Hellfire.
