The Pharaoh Sails to Orion - Nightwish

SargeantRenegade wins my coolness award for this week. If such an award actually existed and I handed them out anyway. Of course it helps I was listening to a Tarja era Nightwish song just now. :)

I saw them waaaaay back in the days of Oceanborn as the supporting act for Rage. And they were kind of dissapointing.

Years after that, they played right before Slayer in a festival and the organizers did the crappiest job ever. You cannot mix those bands in the same day.

Yay!  An award! Posted Image

Now to lose the award instantly by admitting to listening to the following:

They probably don't play as well live. I haven't even seen them live on DVD or CD, let alone in person, but from listening to their music it sounds heavily dependent on studio tricks. Or maybe they're not great performers in general. I still like them in small doses though. Ah well, it's too bad. :/

Edit: Don't worry, awards can't be retracted. ;)

I will not discuss their potencial as musicians since the guys in the backline were among the worst and most unprofessional I have ever seen.

On the other hand, both Rage and Slayer; especially Slayer, played with their own gear and that was a huuuuuge difference.

Tarja should be a good live singer just by her formation, but I understand that being sorrounded by a bunch of people wearing black and yelling about Satan and stuff does not help...

For a long time, the US was considered a residual scene for overtly occultist and serious music. Then, these guys changed it:

Angelcorpse - Storm Gods Unbound.

That's strange because I've seen one of their live DVDs called Wishes to Eternity and they were pretty awesome and quite lively.
But that's just my opinion.

Probably because they had a competent sound engineer on the backline and PA; not the criminal I remember on both gigs I saw them.

I mean, even bands with a faaaar smaller budget like Decapitated (in the times of Nihility) sounded far better in far worse venues.

Hang on... I finally figured out Sovereign's true motivations! Listen to his speech...

Fuzz Face - Zillatron.

It's more clear than ever: "Exterminate! Exterminate all lifeforms". And to add to the conspiracy the album is called "Lord of the Harvest". There is no clearer connection to the reapers than that. Do I need say more? I guess not. ;)
