It's nice to think that the symbol and her chant were both something provided by BioWare. I'll ignorantly assume so until it's proven otherwise.Maria Caliban wrote...
Is that the 'official' symbol or something Blur whipped together? Will there be a picture of the symbol itself somewhere in the game?
You can see the same symbol on Leliana's original concept art on her character page.

Actually, it's probably a Chantry symbol that depicts either the cross that Andraste was burned on (like Maria mentioned), or the sword of mercy that was used to end Andraste's suffering in her last moments. Or an amalgamation of the two.

It's the Sword of Mercy. The Templars have a similar image on their armor.

Mary, why are you missing a BioWare symbol?
The ways of the Bioware tags are whimsical and mysterious. I don't question them, for fear that I will somehow wind up with giant blue letters emblazoned over me in real life, which would make my driver's licence and passport photos look that much less like me.

But also hilarious
I AGREE! Mary should have her own thinggie that looks like a stylized blue B. And then Maria can make threads entitled: "What is that over Mary's head?" and we can all discuss whether the 'B' stands for "brioche" or "braaaainz" and whether the blue has any significance.
