Because it signifies a certain state of mind. People with religious beliefs are detached from reality, they live in their own lala-wonderland with angels and miracles and other supernatural fantasies.

You call it an ''extra strenght'', but it is in fact a weakness - you are counting on help from above, which never actually comes and can lead to great dissapointment when that eventually becomes clear. Like when you suddenly wake up with incurable cancer.

That's why it is so dangerous.

Personally I can deal with religious people, but I'm pretty certain I can never be friends with them or have any kind of meaningful relationship, because it is impossible to take them seriously.

Cann it, please.  Both you and bodines1. This forums is not here so you can insult other people.

Yes, you are doing that right now. By calling them detached from reality /stupid /crazy /incapable of thinking for themselves. With all the drive or a religious zealot behind it to boot.
Take a good look, because that's just how you're coming off. Compeltely sure that you're right and the other person is a fool that needs to be "enlightened".

Even if you didn't mean to insult people, you still did. So tone down your rethoric and let's get back to DA:O.

Umm dude, the internet is a harsh place. Grow some thicker skin and learn to dodge the punches. Float like a butterfly and all that.

I have a pretty thick skin, than you very much. If you think my reply is the result of me being offended, think again.
You haven't SEEN me offended (and pray you never will).
The post was a friendly warning, to stop this from turning into a flame war and lockage (or bannage).
But that's beside the point. The point is that this is a civil forum about DA:O and what was said was insulting. You might say religiophobic.

Not really, it was sarcastic and borderline flaming...but I wouldn't say religiophobic. Mostly because that isn't a word.

Now you're just making me want to see it :D

It was bigoted though, and was in no way warranted.  It was an interesting thread until Ryllen had to say this:

Ryllen Laerth Kriel wrote...

Oh crap, I guess she will be
a religious zealot. I was hoping it was just a disguise to help her
escape her past. Well...Morrigan still seems interesting thank
goodness. Religious people get on my nerves...quickly.

Nobody asked them for their views on religion, yet they felt the need to make an attack on a group of people.

Hmmm hadn't read that. But, on another note, don't take it too personal. The internet seems to make us all braver than most of us are in real life...wow, I am really deep.

Heh so true.  As I said in an earlier post I'm agnostic so it doesn't really bother me, I get to sit on my fence and watch people battle it out for my amusement, I just like to point out how people are the same as each other sometime. :innocent:

Heheh, same here. :bandit:

Regardless of personal views on Sky Cake, belief in a higher power does not automatically equal zealot. Leliana may be faithful on her own simply because she believes it to be a true way to repent for her previous life, and has no desire to convert others. Or, she may in fact be an extremist. But why not wait until you have the game, play it, and meet her and get to know her before you automatically assume how she'll be? :P

I don't think faith gives any more strength or character than individualism, and would be hard to convince otherwise.

How about individualism AND faith? :P

Atheist here, i never lost my faith (because i never had any to begin with),i have nothing against religious people (or any other people suffering of delusions, i just wish they would seek help instead of trying spread it around :innocent:)

But seriously, as long as people don't insist on me, or anyone else, to follow their beliefs, or try to put their beliefs into law (same sex couples, abortion, stem cell research, intelligent design, prayer in schools, etc...), i have nothing against them, leave me alone, and i'll keep ignoring you too.

But that's the real world, in fantasy world, religions take wildly different issues, when demons are not only real, but very much an immediate tangible problem (trying to eat you, or just steal your soul), when magic is not only a fact, but can lead to evil, where gods are not only real, but may be taking an active hand in the world (maybe, or maybe not, and even if they are real, that leaves the issue of wether or not they are good and/or worthy of worship).

My character will probably not believe god/s, or i their existence can't be effectively denied, hate them, and, if possible, will be busily trying to corrupt/educate any and all companions/npcs he can.

Oh great... There goes my immersion and continuity. In MY play-through Leliana has a crisis of faith and turns her back on the Maker. Maybe she just likes her Silver Sword of Andraste "Thingee" as a fashionable accessory.
