I am struggling a little balancing mid to low level encounters lv 6 - 9.
Does anyone have any tips to help me with this. Currently I am simply playtesting a lot, but I think I will scream if I have to play this mod too many more times.

Thanks Bealzebub, that is an interesting document.
My initial thoughts are that these guidelines will produce weak creatures but I need to look into it further.
For instance I have a boss fight. I have a monk lv 14 a monk lv 9 and a sorc lv 11.
These are to be pitted against a rogue (perhaps with a few fighter levels) a mage and a fighter plus the PC all at lv 8/9.
I just playetested with a fighter and the party did not take a single hp of damage. Playtesters have said this was a mderately difficult encounter.
It does not fit on the table referenced above at all.
How much of this is down to me knowing what is coming? I don't know.
Does anyone else have any rules they work to on this. In the end it has a lot to do with how much money you allow and what equipment is available and many other factors but I still wonder if there are some rules of thumb I can follow.

Presumably you stopped the sorc from getting off some offensive spells somehow. Giving the sorc something like stoneskin and then letting it cast that before combat would make this harder for you. Or more concentration for the sorc. Not sure how a level 14 monk failed to cause you any damage though, you must have high AC.PJ156 wrote...

35 AC is possible from the equipment available which is pretty high I guess, but the equipment is in keeping with +1 per four levels. the sorc is all offence at the moment as I found in earlier runs she was going down while buffing. I will go her stone skin though.
Perhaps I need to look at the equpment more closely.
