Part of the problem with the ten year time line is there was little to no character growth for your companions. Important events that took place were mere side notes, mentioned in a few lines of dialogue instead of experiencing the event. If given the opportunity would you not want to take part in Aveline wedding when you spent so much time and effort to finally get them to talk to each other? And what of your other companions, what did they accomplish in that time? And why weren’t you there for it.
This ^. And am I the only one who also found it really odd that the halla ran off on Merrill's clan and it took until Act3 for them to track down some of their brethern to get more halla by years end? Okay I know the Dalish move around, but seriously? They aren't that hard to find, and surely other clans would know where the usual campsites were and so look for their fellows there. Another poorly written and executed plot line which also did not help with the passage of time feeling. The Dalish camp never changes either.

Fenris still has 2 dead bodies that been in his house for 7 years. :S That kinda bugged me a little. You'd think he'd get tired of the smell and throw them out or something. lol
And what did he do to the bodies? Shelack them? They never even turned into skeletons! And right after and I visited him, they were there and all I could think is how bad it would smell and I would have decomp smell in my clothes and hair. Kind of immersion breaking to say the least.

where time does not pass and all sorts of crazy stuff happen.
Like enemies spawning out of thin air!
Joking aside. I found it disturbing that an supposedly big city like an Kirkwall did not change in anyway during the gameplay. I mean at least after act2 there should have been some major changes yes?
About characters aging. Again unless they are trapped in time or they have some hell of a plastic surgeons and that sort of stuff there is no way 10 years passed in the game.
You just crossed over to the twilight zone.

Yeah.
The 'transition' from one act to another was handled poorly. If anything it felt jarring and further increased the feeling of being 'disconnected' from Hawke, IMHO.
I really can't stop thinking: "they really should've spent more time on this..."

This is very true, however there is one significant change...without giving anyhing away, somewhere is kirkwall a certain "structure" was erected after the end of act 2 that was not previously there.
But apart from that the city kind of fails to stay interesting.

I agree on that. The half city burned and all was rebuild exactly the same it was before? Fenrils Estate, Hawke's Estate looks the same after 7 years.ruttunenn wrote...

But thats the price when you rush out a product. There are not only bugs, there are a lot of unfinished and unpolished things that everyone notice, sooner or later.

Bioware is a company that takes care of details, I was expecting much more.

I'm sorry, but Molyneux gave us Populous, Populous 2, Dungeon Keeper, Black and White... just to mention the most groundbreaking of his games.MelfinaofOutlawStar wrote...

Fable 2 did a better job in "things change over time".
Molyneux is a ****** but yeah, his games convey the passage of time very well.
That totally made me laugh out loud and get stared at sternly.
That's about the kindest thing I can say about that man. He's the M Night Shyamalan of gaming.
What you say is definitely unfair.
