What good doctor said. It's simple logic really.

And I have one quote reserved for future flaming.

http://social.biowar...6826179#6833781 here, in all it's glory.

Now we have to decide what do we understand by soon .

I'd like to propose point 1, subpoint a from here: http://www.merriam-w...=0&t=1301425165

Bud seeing as how that won't be happening I place my bet on "under 10 day, with luck under 7 days".

Thanks for the fast answer! I just can not penetrate the many-many forum categories...
After all, ther is no release date for patch1.02 (even approximate). I stopped playing because of the irritating freezing and bugs, so I just keep waiting ...

For me it´s ok to wait for a Patch a week or more (for a big Patch), but why they are not giving us minor Patches Day and Day? A fix here and there. All good Developers do that.

Yes, because it's an excellent practice to release a half-finished patch, and then patch the patch and patch the subsequent patches until they get it right.

I made it through the game just fine, so my opinion's probably a bit slanted, but I'd think you guys would want it to be done right the first time, as releasing a non-useful patch that doesn't fix your problem would just further infuriate you.

Which developers do that?

Maybe its not good practice, though neither is releasing a game which clearly hasn't had enough Quality testing. It seems so easy sometimes for a developer to release a game and then patch it 'on the hoof' so to speak, whilst their customers money is earning interest in their accounts.

It also appears that in general people seem to accept this attitude with a shrug of the shoulders and a 'things happen' approach, and as such it won't be stopping any time soon.

Agreed. I'd rather wait for a patch that works rather than piecemeal fixes.

I don't mind waiting for it but I do hope it fixes the performanance issues with DX11 on Nvidia cards, although I appreciate this is also partly Nvidia's problem. Actually, I found an older driver (260.52, to be precise) helped a lot with framerates. Other than that I have to say I haven't come across any showstoppers but I'm only a few hours in and other people have clearly seen plenty. But my biggest issue is that, bugs and performance issues aside, the game just feels rushed and not as rich as DAO. It's still fun, but I don't think it's as good.

Since this is, going from the relative lack of icons under your profile picture, your first Bioware game, I 'm going to let you in on a secret: As Bioware releases go, this is about as bug-free as they get. Sure, they let slip two really nasty ones (the combined Isabela/Sebastian/gear set bonus/whatnot one and the phantom quest one), but in comparison to the issues that plagued, say, Origins, on release, this game is near-flawless.

I'd say that a lot of us who are familiar with Bioware's past releases (and remember the list of unofficial fan fixes Baldur's Gate II still requires) are seeing more of progress here. :P

I have to disagree with you here.

I've been here, game in hand on launch day, for the past several Bioware releases. Yes, games of this magnitude generally and from this developer specifically are far from bug-free on launch. But Dragon Age 2 is not "near-flawless" in comparison to any game. I realize you were speaking in hyperbole, but still. This game is broken every which way, and as someone who would really like to keep playing it...it's absolutely frustrating. Everything from companions to equipment to cutscenes to plot flags to the performance of the game is in desperate need of patching. Maybe I've just been one of the lucky testers for the last few games and that has altered my perception, because I have never played a Bioware game that felt so incomplete.

In theory, Dragon Age 2 is a pretty fantastic game. Once the patches are rolled out and the game actually works as it was intended to work, it might be. But right now it's not functioning as intended for a whole lot of people (I know, there's always one guy who has no issues and claims that we're all just making these bug reports up), and I find it strange that so many people on the forum continue to be more concerned with "defending" bioware from criticisms and bug reports than bringing these bugs to light.

No, it's not near-flawless in comparison to most games. It's just near-flawless in comparison to, say, Origins.

It's not like even I'm happy with the game as is, I'm postponing my next (third) playthrough until some of the nastier bugs are fixed. All I'm saying is that I'm not seeing the "massive dip in quality", which a lot of people - including you - seem to be claiming. Par for the course, if not better.

Even a vague glance at this fourm can tell you the patch is underway. My guess is that they are trying fix as many issues across as many platforms as possible in one go so they can get on to DLC.

Please, please, please, this.

I don't mind waiting another month(actually I do, terribly, but there is other stuff I can do in the meantime) as long as I know that at the end of it, the issues affecting me are dealt with and I can actually carry a game on past the Deep Roads.

Dragon Age II has been very controversial these days. Many reviewers give it an high score, while others give it a very low score (something like 5/10).
This means the community is divided. Divisions apart, we can all agree Dragon Age II doesn't look much like a subsequent adventure. It looks like a new IP, instead.

They don't know yet for sure. They don't post tentative information - not after Return to Ostagar.

I was drawn to this thread because I am having a ball finishing my 3rd play, and was hoping that I wouldn't have to leap around and over glitches on my 4th.

I want a complete, good patch though, not a fast one.

Like Funker, my experience with this launch has been smoother than other Bioware games (games in general, really). I realize that varies from user to user, especially on PC. My gut reaction was, "wow, this is very polished." No crashes at all etc.

I did not avoid the biggies: Merril out of sequence cutscenes and Isabella/Sebastion/Armor bonus bugs.

Merril's time warp can just be ignored and the bonus bug can be worked around by meta-gaming or modding...not saying that is acceptable, but I find it not that big of a deal, frankly, for a brand new game.

Cheers, all and happy day when patch comes!

Unlike for the original game, (which was delayed months waiting for the console versions) a quick review of the entire DA:O patch release history gives no indication that anything except 1.04 was ever delayed for ANY platform in order to coordinate release dates across ALL platforms.

The other patches became available on a staggered schedule, and not always for PCs first. And I know that the Witch Hunt v1.1 fix was pushed out and available for PCs as soon as it was ready. (PS3 and XBox players had to wait weeks longer... Mostly for their respective platforms' "certification" process.)

Damnable thing is, if it's released on April 1st, no one is going to believe it.

I'll give an update as to where we're at on friday as I said, though I didn't realize that's April 1st so we'll see how much weight it carries

3. Just an update on when we will get a patch
