Yeah, because the fixes in that patch and the fixes in this one are going to be completely similar!*
*hint: no, they aren't.

Nothing, that game was perfect. Only DA2 has ever needed patching and the patch was not released immediatly. This has never happened before in the history of ever.

Correction, The Witcher Enhanced Edition was near perfect, the original game also needed some patches to make it work right...

It relieves stress, and lets you remember where all the keyboard keys should be.
And can be hilarious to those around you.

No, that's not it. It's the "my life is going to end, the sky is going to fall, I'm going to sue and I can't bear the thought of another weekend" without a GAME! I like the game too, but for crying out loud... go to Amazon.com, search on the word "life" and, whatever it costs, buy it!!!

Concur. I use KOTOR II as my measuring stick for half-finished. So, in comparison to that, DA2 is in the "definitely finished, and practically bug free" category.
These days I tend to use Kamen Rider: Climax Heroes as mine.
A fighting game where a good third of the fighters didn't even have a complete set of special moves, the combo-system didn't really exist, and there wasn't anything that even resembled balance.

The 1.01 patch had very few superficial fixes that didn't really affect the inner workings of the game.

I don't think my path of thought is flawed. They put out a game with severe problems, it follows that the patch would have some too. I mean, look at 1.01. You just said so yourself that it wasn't very helpful.JediMB wrote...

Yes. 1 point.Unichrone wrote...
I'm done with Dragon Age II. I've played through it two and a half times. The time for a good version of the game was in the past month, not the next. I'm not trying to complain, I'm just stating the facts. Many people are done with this game, and it's probably left a bad taste in their mouth, which is understandable.
That's too bad, I guess.
Don't have much love for the idea that you have to burn through a game as quickly as possible and then shelve it or sell it, personally.
And, like I said, if there's one thing I know about BioWare fans, it's that they tend to keep playing the games for months or years after they're released.Unichrone wrote...
And why does a quick fix need to be "dirty"? Why does a series of quick patches have to be inferior to a delayed, larger one? I would rather have multiple miniature patches over the course of the month that fix a number of things, rather than wait for one patch at the end of the month that will cover the same issues. I say, the sooner something, even if it's one thing, is fixed, the better.
You're implying that if they give us smaller, more numerous patches that
it's inherently not as effective as a delayed larger patch. And that's
an unfounded assertion.
Thing is, following protocol it is not possible for them to deliver a series of quick patches. Why? Becuase EA/MS/Sony certification slows down the process. A patch that alters critical components of the game can't be released until it has gone through certification, and work proper on the next patch can't start until the previous patch has been released. You'd end up with a series of small fixes that in the end only fix a fraction of the issues a bigger patch would, but within the same time span.
The only way to get a series of actual quick fixes out would be through bypassing certification, and this is only physically possible on the PC to begin with. The PC isn't even the biggest market, and the PC players are the ones most likely to hold onto the game and keep playing it. Bypassing EA certification for the PC patches would constitute as releasing a "dirty" patch.Unichrone wrote...
EDIT: Calling the game half-finished is not hyperbole. Your glasses are extremely rosy, good sir.
Sorry, but obvious hyperbole is still obvious hyperbole.
I've played actual half-finished games, and DA2 is not one. It needs a good deal of polish and some questionable design decisions have been made, but that's it.
I think you ignored the issue of the good version of the game needing to be out before, and instead feigned pity to give credibility to your stance. Whether I'm done with Dragon Age 2 or not is not the issue; that's sort of straining out a gnat and swallowing the camel. The issue is, people (those who have the ability to, anyway) have played through the game. The best time to get a stable, enjoyable version of the game is gone. Anything they do now is only going to be interpreted in light of the poor release. I'm not saying BioWare doesn't deserve a chance to fix the game. It simply is what it is. Bending our minds around reality doesn't change reality, it only changes us.
Concerning EA, you don't get to sell out to a company and then blame them for the restrictions they place on you. You have to sustain criticism when criticism is valid.
And I did not use hyperbole. You can disagree, but at the end of the day you have your opinion and I have mine. I think it is perfectly fair to call Dragon Age 2 half-finished.
Also, who said I burned through the game? Who says I zip through games and then shelf them? Dragon Age 2 is a rarity. You're the one using hyperbole. Or, in this case, complete fabrication. By the way, replayability is predicated on quality, not brand name.

Perfect?!? perhaps hate gives you short memory, but I remember very well the reviews when it came out, it was so buggy to be unplayable (something that doesn't happen with DA2, with all its shortcomings), it took almost six months to assemble a decent version.Avissel wrote...
