I tried to do a search but didn't find anything specific to my query...

Is this an unlockable to get at the beginning of the game?  According to the Dragon Age Wikia you buy these from Jean-Luc in Hightown in Act 2.  I am level 3 and just landed in Kirkwall.  This armor seems insanely strong compared to the range I am using now.  I am a rogue, my last armor upgrade was from 49 to 54 leather armor.

Robes of the Void have 151 armor, +36 mana, +88 attack and +712 electricity resistance.  This is triple the armor rating of my leather armor.  My base attack rating is 66, and this brings my electricity resistance to 98%.

I'm sure there's a reason for this, but it just seems so random.  I have many unlockable items that I entered codes for, but supposedly I get those later.

I'm not complaining, but if you have any idea as to why I got this item please shed some light

Robes are only for mages, your rogue can't use it, if you will notice it takes a certain level of magic to use it, and not sure if you would want to waste points just to get it
