Obviously, Orlais will have a pig-boy and a cauldron.

Er, no, I hope not Orlais. I really hope DA3 is not set in Orlais.

[...] An entire game full of people speaking French-inflected English would be too much to bear. [...] If the spoken dialogue were actually in French, it would feel more natural, but how many players would be able to understand it? Non-native accents are to dialogue what spice is to food. A sprinkling is an exotic addition, but you can't make a meal of peppercorns.

QFT.

I've always found the Orlesian accent to be jarring, it bothered me to no end on the Origins playthroughs where I romanced Leliana. What you said about sprinklings and meals is doubly true for something that many many players found annoying or jarring to begin with. It'd be like nails on a chalkboard to hear everyone around you speaking that way all the time, dear god.

That being said, unfortunately, I think Bioware has locked themselves into this route by all the story elements they've hinted at being there, characters that have gone there, and centers of power(Chantry...) based there. So even if they hear the fans' dislike of it and agree they may not have much choice unless they want to pick up a totally unrelated and different plotline from the first two games they way theyd did with DA2 in comparison to Origins.

Hmm, the places in Orlais we could end up in could speak in a Picard French accent, one that happens to sound eerily like that of a well spoken English gentleman (with the occasional slight hint of a Yorkshire accent)

I bet we'll see Isolde in Orlais visiting some relative of hers.

And just think that would mean it wouldn't just be Isolde alone, but there would be a whole family of Isolde's out there, and we might have to endure an entire quest around them *shudder*

A bard is more than likely to happen. Can fit any race, any class, and they are rather important in Orlais

DA3 will most likely take place around most of the world (or a very large portion)if what DA2s ending is hinting at, looks like a huge war is brewing. Would be nice if you get the champion & warden working together. Then DA3 would just be...Warden & Champion.

With everything that's happened, I'm kind of thinking you'll have ties to the Chantry, so probably Seeker?  Maybe you'll be The Seeker that was sent to Kirkwall (whatever her name is).

I have no problem DA3 covering the 'continent' including Orlais. If don't want Orlais because of the posh foreign accent wouldn't that make you a DA racist? lol

For everything else see my reply on this topic.

We could be a seeker, but I'd be more interested in playing a Ferelden spy/knight/diplomat working in Fereldan interests, dealing with *spoilers would go here in a different forum ;)* It would be nice if we had some different backgrounds to choose from. I very much hope that we don't have one preset character again.

I don't seriously believe that they're going to set a game in Orlais. The accent is okay for comic relief, but I think I'd be ready to throw my computer out the window after a few hours.

A hero who bonds himself with lyrium and transforms into a massive worm, establishing a millenia-long tyrannical rule to ... oh, wait.  Wrong franchise.  My bad.

You mean, like Varric? That's what he is, essentially. He tells stories, a fine bardic tradition. He lets Bianca take care of the accompaniment, however.

Edit, regarding whether you will play your Warden or the Champion: You need to remember that DA3 must be able to be played as a stand-alone game. Not all players will have played DA:O and DA2. Preset "histories" are one option, but I don't want to think about the bedlam two imported saves would cause. DA2 had trouble integrating the plot flags of one final save.

French people.

They also need a Quebec part of Orlais. That would be awesome.
