I was looking to wear this set on my DW rogue... but it seems I only came away with the chest and the gloves. Since I'm past Lothering, and I never got a key to the chest, I can't get the boots now I guess?

And I don't think the hermit gave me the helmet either. Is that one random chance?

If you are on the PC then you cannot get the boots without a mod I am afraid.

This will place a page in your inventory of all existing characters who have passed this point, it will appear on new characters sometime during or after Lothering. Use the item to make the boots appear.

You can trade with the hermit for the helm, he will accept three items in trade. A book which was given as reward for resolving a romance in the Dalish camp, a scarf from the werewolf who asked you to kill her and a ring you find at some point in the blackwood. (dawn or dusk ring, cant remember which) I'm not certain if you can get the items by killing him after you know he has them, I know you can't get the items if you kill him before he mentions them though.

Ah ha! That mod has a version that includes both the boots AND helmet. Thanks for the link, I think I might have killed the hermit before he told me about things... though I know I traded a book to him before I did that. Just never got the helmet I suppose!

I run the PC version of the game, too, so I have been wondering where the 3rd piece of that set was for some time now.  Up until now I had been thinking I was just missing some hidden chest somewhere.

Thanks for the info.

I found out you can't trade with/kill the hermit once you beat the elf quest, so I won't be able to get the helmet this playthrough. I'll know better for next time around though.

Make sure you trade for the items a.s.a.p., rather than ask/answer questions. You can only ask so many questions before he'll stop talking to you. If that happened, you could still get the acorn from the tree stump, but you wouldn't be able to get the helmet.

You can't get any of the items by killing the hermit, even though he has it coming. You must trade for them.

Kind of off-topic, but I wish that set could be upgraded :(

But then of course, it would push the STR requirement too high. An interesting mod might be to keep the model, convert the stat requiirements to light (since it's Elven after all), adjust the sound values to light as well, and make it upgradeable, and possibly tweak the stats.

Sorry for going off-topic!

Using the Winter Forge, upgrading the whole set takes about 5 minutes. And the Armor of the Devout mod looks kinda similar to the ancient elven, but switched to light and re-skinned to brown leather (I *think* it uses the Armor of Diligence model, which is nearly the same except for the thing over the shoulders).

Any information how to get the full set on PS3? I only have the boots and the helmet :(

By the time you aquire the full set, it's usefulness is nearly gone (only maybe the helm for spirit defence at the end of the game). It's not upgradeable and the requirements are too high for rouges, and warrior don't see any need in it.

Mod-armor may be nice, but they are way too overpowered for DAO. There are only few which think of the little things called "balance". Armor of the Devout is not a good example ;)

The helmet is useful, the rest not so much.

Sometimes I put the armor (cuirass) on Zevran for a while, but there are definitely better sets of armor to be had.

There's also a Ancient Elven Shield you can buy at one of the shops. I don't remember which shop it was however.

The link you provided here is broken, but I was able to find the only currently existing Mod for this on the same site, if anyone still needs it.

I started playing this game later than others as I did not have access to gaming until after I left my ex.  Now that I am playing catchup, I am sure there are many others doing the same for different reasons.  Enjoy!
