as a recent ME2 owner, I hope there will be a discount on DLC... It just doesn't make sense to charge $30 or so for 3-4 hour content that could have a potential impact in ME3 (maybe), while the full game is easily almost half that price

Yeah that is one thing that seems... odd. I never thought about it but the fact that DLC NEVER goes down in price is really... bad. I mean the original game could go down to 10 bucks and the DLC (as stated above) could come to a total of over 40 bucks. Heck I love steam when it comes to their sales (who doesn't like sales?) but knowing that bioware/ea does do sales for their games OTHER then the PC is just... annorying. This reminds me of the Halo and other similar scenarios by other companies where they show exclusiveness to platforms that are still growing in popularity while everyone else who have been true to the PC get gyped.

I was thinking of buying the DLC today but after doing the math I could just as easily buy another game (like Portal 2) for the same price. I don't think they should do a sale for the DLC but instead lower the bloody price permanently just as if it was an actual game. A response from Bioware on this matter would be nice so we actually know how they stand on the whole "PC doesn't get any sales for DLC" thing.

Good points all regarding the price of DLC vs the price of the game. Now it's really the DLC that spins the money for Bioware - no middlemen, no costs associated with producing DVD's and cases etc, plus it's more profitable in terms of the amount of work they have to put in as well.

The thing they're forgetting though is that many of us simply won't buy at the current prices. Even dropping the prices for one day would generate a huge boost for the them by getting the rest of us who are holding out, and give an incentive for people to pick up the game and look at the DLC.

"Hey, this cheap 'Shadowbroker' mission was awesome, I should buy the rest of the mission DLC now!" and so on...

Well the response was that:

"There is no one here that can effect any changes that you seek. This is technical and customer support only. The only thing you or I can do to effect the changes you seek is to post on the developers web site forums. The is no guaranties that this will change anything, but it is the best option that we have at this time."

It really sucks that the DLC doesn't come down. DLC is such a ripoff anyway, a game is 30-40 hours for 50 bucks, DLC is 10-12 hours for 40 bucks (or something simular). The alternative outfits packs don't even add gameplay, just some random sillyness. They should just grab all DLC together and put it out there for 15 bucks or less if they leave out Arrival.

On a side note OP are you sure DA2 freebies include the fire power pack? As I seemed to have missed that.

Absolutely. I think it was a limited-time thing, it was in a banner on the EA store, but it's gone now. Having said that, I don't have Dragon Age 2 (or Origins) so I have no first-hand experience.

Well. EA is having a sale right now, but it ain't for DLC.  Right now the entire Mass Effect series is going for 15$, 25$ (depending if you get the deluxe edition) on Steam currently.

It is difficult to bring myself to actually buy DLC, I do really want Shadow Broker, Kasumi, and Arrival... so, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and ignore the rather steep prices.

It's ridiculous that it's going for $10 on Steam right now when for the story-based DLC alone you're paying upwards of $30.

50 hour game= 10$
Story DLC 2-4 hours= 30$

Does anyone see logic in that?

Just got ME2 on steam for $10
Went to look at how much DLC was..
4 story missions (2480pts), firepower pack(160) and kestral armour(160): 2800 points

2800 points is $59 USD D:!!
Even if I took out the firepower and kestral, thats still 2480 points, which i'd need to buy 2800 to get anyway because of stupid "points" systems.

No DLC for me :x

Yeah I noticed the same of Steam, and it makes the lack of DLC sales even more infuriating! As Chris pointed out, it just makes the gulf between value for money between the game and DLC even greater than it was before!

Well, XBox users have to pay for XBox live to download the DLC in the first place...

What does that have to do with anything? They're paying MICROSOFT for xbox live, not Bioware. It's essentially irrelevant what they have to pay for xbox live.

Yeah, doesn't make much sense, it's great that the game itself has come down in price and will result in more people trying out the series though.

However, as someone who isn't a fan of DLC, offers poor value ( low total hours gameplay etc ) compared to a full expansion and dribs and drabs content instead of all the content in one big hit ( very much preferred ), I just can't bring myself to buy it, will just have to wait and be patient for a PC DLC sale, or a DLC sale in general.

Just hope it happens before ME3 comes out.

I've taken the jump from 360 to PC for the Mass Effect games, and i'll be honest i slightly regret at this stage due to DLC. Never bought any of them for my 360, but i'm planning on going through the whole series on PC instead. Without a DLC sale, there's no way i'm going to buy any of them due to the price tag. I figured there would be sales from time to time on the DLC or points, but it appears i'm wrong.

Got ME2 for $10 on Steam and the DLC is around $40? And that's just the missions. It stings a bit that some of these seem vital to the story experience. Sure, it would cost me much the same on 360 as well, but at least i know a sale is possible on that platform.

It's a shame too, i really want to play a bunch of the DLC missions.

For those who want to support sales for PC, PLEASE go and support this thread on the EA forums here. It's the best way to try and get EA to listen and get something of a sale.

I hate the Bioware point system. Until I can get the DLC for a fair price on Steam, no buy from me. Sorry for your loss...
