Make you wonder if the EA beancounters understand how easy piracy is on PC. Better they make a sale at a discount then no sale at all.

I just bought 1600 points Friday and spent them all and then played 18 hours of ME2 between Friday and Saturday. Arrival and Overload are the only DLC I have left to buy so i almost jumped at the chance to get it a little cheaper.
With EA changing their store to Origin I think that's one reason why we don't see PC DLC going on sale or Bioware points.

Once again PC users are left out in the cold. Arrival DLC is half price on the Xbox this week.

Yep, maybe we are paying the price due to piracy, but then again, those that price the games are their own worst enemies at times.
Take the varying prices on Steam for some games, or the Aus tax as those here in Aus like to call it, being charged far more for the same game, yet the Aus dollar has been worth more than the US for a while now, go figure, nothing but pure greed and promotes piracy or fraud, ie putting a US address etc.
I personally don't feel sorry when developers lose money to piracy when they do things like that and EA are guilty of it, they are asking for it, thankfully not everyone developer does that and they are the ones that will get my money.
Take Dead Space 2, I wanted it in the recent Steam sale, but due to the Aus tax I passed and I will do that for 95% of games that have the tax, it would have to be only a couple dollars in it for me to put my principals aside.
EA is the publisher for that game, so they are just as guilty as the others that do it, to buy it on Steam is $69.99 for Aussies and only $29.99 for US, that is more than double and you can see why people don't like companies like EA and those that price gouge.
/End rant

My flatmate used to work for Allied Games, the people who provided and serviced the games for arcades, and he mentioned the various import duties when I was having a bit of a rant in his general direction about gaming prices and the aussie dollar. The varying rate depends on if you are importing software, firmware (ICs), or full on hardware (game cabinets). Its not a recent thing, its been that way since they started importing Space Invaders and Pacman consoles back in the early 80's.
Dont know if that still applies to the PC games that we buy and play, but wouldnt surprise me to find out that it is the case.
The way things are going, I will probably purchase the CE of ME3 from the US, and import it myself.
$70 to buy, $20 for express postage, and still $20 better off than buying locally.

Actually, part of the reason why us Aussies (yes, I'm Stryne too) pay more is because of the 35-48% import duty that is levied on computer and video games.

That's sheer robbery.
Though here in Canada we have something similar happen with books... i.e. a paperback novel that is priced $5.99 US is priced at $10.99 Canadian... despite the fact that the Canadian dollar is practically dead even in value to the US dollar (and actually the Canadian dolliar is now a tiny bit higher valued actually). As an avid reader of science fiction, this really peeves me off.
I can only imagine how infuriating it must be for Aussies though with games where you're paying ludicrous sums more than you should be.

Some are the same price on Steam, the odd game is actually cheaper in Aus than the US and then you get the real bad ones, being charged over double the US price, like is the case with Dead Space 2, no import tax could count for that, it has to be greed.
I don't know what if any extra charges would apply for Steam, being digital and no boxes and stuff, but obviously you wouldn't have stuff like postage being passed on.
You expect digital games to be cheaper than boxed, no disks, manuals and can't sell second hand etc, yet you see some digital games like $90 Aus on Steam, far far too high.

I'm honestly not surprised us PC users are still being shafted with DLC prices. As a few people have said it's a bit ridiculous - ME2 DLC, some of it anyway, is really easy to pirate. Why then not simply reduce the price, at least temporarily, to encourage people to buy it in a legit fashion?
Oh and as for ME3, go to game.co.uk. That's where I bought ME2 from soon after release, and was a good $50 cheaper than locally for months afterwards.

Yeah as I said in my last post, I read in the Steam forums that Xbox users were given the chance to vote on the most wanted DLC sale and ME2 apparently won.
It seems going by what you said, they have now got yet another DLC sale for it, yet it was nothing binding or anything, they didn't have to put it on sale again, it was just a vote for what Xbox users most wanted.
It seems some people listens to it's fans at least and it's not those that decide PC DLC sales....
Equal treatment amongst all versions ? , pfft YEAH RIGHT, that has well and truly been proven not to be the case now....
In an ideal world, all the DLC for the ME games would be availble to buy on Steam, like with other games on Steam and we can wait and buy it whenever they are on sale, it would be much more convenient/easier to boot ...
Yeah that's right, Xbox users voted, and they voted for ME2 DLC. For us PC users a poll won't even be necessary, this thread(which is 8 pages long by the way) is a good enough example of what we want: Namely a DLC sale for ME2 DLC. If Bioware/EA threw in a bundle of all the story/character DLC such as Kasumi, Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, and Arrival they'd make my day. Since I've none of them, and a lot of other PC users are in the same position.
Why none of the ME2 DLC isn't on Steam is a good question, I don't have any good answers though. I know EA and Steam are in a bit of a disagreement at the moment between their standing on some types of games, such as Crysis 2 which was pulled of Steam. There's speculation around that it's due to Origin but I don't know. The reasons for why Crysis 2 was pulled off, was due to EA not having control of the flow of DLC and patches to the game. However I don't think ME2 would be in the same position, once again though I'm not sure since I don't know how Crysis 2 handles its DLC.

I think the problem is Steam wants a cut of the sales (because they need to support server infrastructure for the games etc.), also for DLC. Because they now also do F2P games, their policy is that your DLC needs to be sold over steam (because steam needs some money to support those F2P games, it'd be unfair if F2P games' DLC were sold and steam wouldn't get anything).
EA, however, is the only publisher that doesn't want to share with steam, so all EA DLC is sold separately. This leads to A) annoyance with customers because DLC is harder to find and never goes on discount and
So in short, EA wants money, Steam wants monopoly, and in the end it's us that have to pay for it.
I wish EA was either more supportive of PC and get us some sales, and Steam would allow EA games back, or that EA would just quit whining and listen to their customers. But well, who has ever heard of EA being customer friendly...?
P.S. DLC sales for PC please, Arrival should have been free in the first place.

As a suggestion guys - complain to EA support. They'll tell you that they can't do anything, but you may be able to get a discount code from them which would make buying Bioware points cheaper.
Uhh... Im not sure I can ask but did you do that and did it work? If so, what kind of discount did you get? Because buying BW points via EAstore/Origin or whatever they want to call it is already way more expensive than buying them on this site. Like 50% more expensive, so they'd have to come up with some solid discounts... for everyone. You know, I think a package deal/discounts would actually make them more money, so that makes me wonder why they haven't done it yet.

All we want is equal treatment, yet while we have been asking for a PC sale for months, Xbox got yet another 50% off sale instead, not sure how many that makes for them.
Equal treatment, nothing more, nothing less and isn't much to ask at all, but it seems this isn't a goal for those that can grant a PC sale ........

Have ps3ers had a sale on the DLC, or is it just xboxers? Maybe its not PC users getting screwed, but just xBox users getting loved?
I have both pc & xBox, and I only bothered to get the DLC for the xBox. And I got it all at half price. PC users do seem to get a slightly raw deal. But on the other hand, the PC version of ME2, and particularly ME1 are far superior to the xBox versions.

FemShep - yes and no. PS3 users received all DLC packed in with the exception of Arrival. Then, very shortly after the release of the PS3 version, there was a Facebook competition giving away something like 50-100 free codes for Arrival on PS3.

"We" always get things for free? If you're refering to the Bring down the sky DLC, we(probably) got it for free because we had to wait an extra year to play ME1. Just look at what the PS3 players got for free for having to wait an extra year: All the DLC except for Arrival. Mods are free, but those are mods and not official content.
All we want is equal treatment across all platforms, so far regarding DLC sales, that hasn't been the case.

Any yet another 2 months with absolutely nothing from Bioware.
Well Captain_Obvious_au, looks like the wait is over. I was browsing the internet when I saw a sale for PC Bioware points ( 800 points for 4$ instead of 10$) The catch is you need to download Origin and buy them from Origin ( I know it sucks). For you to get the Bioware points on sale. you need to download Origin, launch the client, type Bioware points in the search bar, select them, and before you check out, scroll down and enter the following code: ORIGIN60 ( with caps). Then the points will go on sale, along with other games ( ME2 for 8$, DA2 8$, Crysis 2 16$, ME pinnacle station 2$, Battlefield Bad company 2 Vietnam 6$,etc.)

And there's the problem. You need to instal Origin. I actually really cannot believe this, the points finally come on sale and you need to instal Origin to get them.chris2365 wrote...
