Perhaps if you policed your own and proved yourself trustworthy, instead of hiding the dead bodies and research on necromancy, things wouldn't have spiralled so far out of control.

Erm.

Point: Orsino protects Quintin. He claims to fear not protecting him would be bad for mages. Wouldn't proving himself and by extension mages in general capable of watching after themselves be better than hiding it and hoping Merry never notices?
