I don't know if this is a bug or if it's supposed to happen, but I was able to knock down a few enemies that I thought were resistant to knockdowns such as Ogres and Pride Demons. It usually happens after they are immobilized by a spell, but they eventually get back up after lying on the ground for a bit (which I find quite funny). Here are a couple of screenshots of a knocked down Pride Demon Hybris. No mods or exploits, on normal difficulty.

I didn't explore the cross class combos, but some attacks had extra effects on targets that had suffered a special condition.

Also, I think a critical hit could knock down enemies as I think I saw a few knockdowns from basic attacks.

I've seen knockdowns on ogres. I don't think they were bugs due to the crcumstances involved. Stunned with a crit; two handed sword fighter. I do like that they take greater damage when prone.
