Funny side note. Cause I ran it again a few hours ago. Anora actually presents the Hero of Fereldon as "your Future King". I think she calls you the prince consort in Awakening if I recall.

Well, maybe during the Coronation, Anora is happy enough about the dead dragon on the roof to actually call you "King." But then she comes down off that high cloud and goes right back to sternly reminding you that you're her Prince-Consort.

Oh she gets her kingdom back eventually. When the King Hero of Fereldon goes through the Portal with his love to prepare their son for what is coming.

Yeap... Sucks for her... Cause Prince-Consort here has a secret heir to the throne who is going to be a evil mofo :P

Lirene mentions that the only Fereldan Warden she knows is the one sitting on the throne when you ask about Anders. Also, the Hero of Ferelden codex in DA2 mentions you're married to the queen and are the Prince-Consort.

The first mention you can get is from Bodhan Feddic in act 1, just after you talked to Bartrand and Varric for the first time.

"I heard the Hero married the Queen now, well fancy that."

For ordinary people probably the distinction between king and prince-consort isn't that big. He's married to the queen so they think of him as king. Also initially Origins says there was a bit of power play between the two but after Awakening, Anora gives him a big welcome back. I had the feeling that he started to grow on her and so may be she even did make it official. My warden's, "bit on the side" was Zevran, so I can even take it that the reason Zevran was no longer there was that Anora made it a condition of him actually becoming king. It was disappointing, though, that you got less carry over from the King Cousland/Queen Anora end than King Alistair or even Warden Alistair. And if Loghain hadn't sacrified himself to the archdemon, which in my case he did, it would have been amusing to have him in the Vicount Keep and hear his take on the situation. Even better if he had actually disagreed with Meredith!

I guess that's one of the reasons Anders changed voice actors too, because Cullen has a LOT more to talk about in Dragon Age 2, and Greg Ellis voiced Cullen before Anders ever hit a concept board.

Cullen = DA:O:A Anders?

Mind = Blown. :huh:

It makes a lot of sense. My guess on why you don't hear alot about the King and Queen in DA2 is that Ferelden is probably pretty stable under the two of them-increased trade , a rebuilt military, and no rebellions. I'm sure Orlais was probably pretty concerened on how things were developing in Ferelden, and they may have played a part in the disappearace of King Cousland. It's possible we find out in DA3 if it's in Orlais.

Yes, Originally Anders was voiced by Greg Ellis. In fact he was suposed to voice him again in DA2, but got a major part in a movie and wasn't able to commit the time, so they brought in Adam Howden instead :P.

The one thing that surprised me about DA2 in a King Cousland playthrough was all the references to the King, and nary a one about the Queen. I actually thought Queen Anora might have died a natural death. There was a reference by Aveline about "they just counted up the casualties at Ostagar" 7 years in. I suppose that they could have been the King and Queen. There's also a cameo by King Alistair when he mentions the Queen.

It seems a bit OOC for Anora to allow people to refer to the Cousland as King, when she fought so hard in Origins against that idea. It may be she mellowed out a bit after she realized he wasn't going to take her throne, though(at least in some playthroughs) .I'll really be interested to see what they do in the next game

And some of the lines people posted up there also worked for Alistair as king. (Like the one in Lirene's shop about the only Warden she knows is the King of Ferelden). Either it was oversight on QA's part or just some of it was reused.
Aside from the guys who accost you immediately after that who named Anora as queen, I didn't notice a huge difference in my imports. (I've had Alistair in the role of Drunk, King and Grey Warden).
My only King Cousland save was lost to reinstall long before DA2 came out and I didn't have it in me to replay and marry Anora. Sorry, not a big fan.

The bartender says the prince consort is rumored to have an elven lover if you keep zevran as a lover while marrying Anora.

I don't think Anora would be traveling around Thedas making sure everyone says Prince-consort and I doubt people would be bothered to to distinguish between King and Prince-consort.

I freaking loved Loghain as my King Cousland's father-in-law! It was.... just.... OMGSOAWESOME.

Okay, yeah, the more I think about it, the more I realize what a gift Awakening was for my King Cousland. Like, seriously, not one cameo, but two? Both his wife and his father-in-law? COMPLETE WITH CHARACTER-SPECIFIC DIALOGUE? It was all so good!

So, no, I can't really complain that King Cousland didn't get much love in DA2, nor complain that Anora didn't get to make a cameo. But the interactions for my King Cousland were so enjoyable that I couldn't help but hope for more in DA2. :happy:

Ooh, I know this is such an old thread but it's cool to see someone else who thought it was badass to have Loghain as a father-in-law plus the pairing with Anora! hahaha. I've had enough of those haters who bash me for simply considering to spare Loghain. I am optimistic that King Cousland will get a cameo in DA3 as suggested in one of the PAX interviews. I'd die happy even if it was just a cameo of King Cousland and Anora plus some epilogue text! Come on Bioware give me that happy ending!

There is a moment, when you are looking for Anders and you enter the Fereldan refugee shop, where the shopkeeper says...

"The only Warden I know is sitting on the throne."

That and Leliana mentioning the Warden is a "good king" were the only moments I recall that my Cousland got any cameo mentions.

I know she says that if Alistair is King. If it was the Warden I don't know as I never had a game where the Warden married Anora. Otherwise she says "The only Grey Warden I've ever heard of slew the archdemon to save us all. Fat lot they care." Or something like that.
