What happened to the elves from the time DA:O ended to the time DA2 began? Why do they now have long elongated faces and huge eyes. To be honest, they look like they have undergone a transformation after visiting a darkspawn camp.
Did they evolve that quickly from DA:O to DA2?

Honestly there is nothing wrong with the elf looks. If you read fantasy fiction, elves are almost always described as alien, sharp features, maybe beautiful alluring, yet alien.. Sometimes they are human size, sometimes 7 feet tall with long lithe limbs. They are hardly even described in any fiction as slightly short humans with small slightly pointy ears.

They are not supposed to be short pointy eared humans, and much of DA2 I dislike, but I do like this change:)

Some didn't like them as smaller humans with pointy ears. Like people didn't like the combat, Bioware jumped to another extreme, which meant fast-as-hell combat and rather alien looking elves.

Is there really no middle ground....

I'm with BobSmith101 on this. They have some artist/artists who are great admirers of Final Fantasy and Manga. Just look at Fenris and Flemeth. And maybe M. Laidlaw as well. Though he could just be clueless about how much that kind of style annoys wrpg gamers. Though I'd say Laidlaw last played Bayonetta, and now in his enthusiasm thinks he knows how all other kinds of games can become "better". You get that attitude from 14y olds too. Whatever the last game they liked, the next should be more like it, like.

That picture's not an opinion. It's the burning, cold-hard truth that you can't look away from. Look at that giraffe neck, those stick-like protrusions that are supposed to be arms, the flat-nose that hearkens to a certain James Cameron movie.

Yeah! Just like some people are necrophiles and some people like the "Two Girls, One cup", some people like the new elf look.

For some reason I think that this look isn't exactly what they aimed for.

The more I look at that picture the more disturbing it is. It's like he's in bed with a malnourished child. It's quite creepy to see in motion, when his hand is caressing her, as it really makes the annorexic-like look glaringly obvious. When she stands up she looks like she hasn't eaten in months.

Yeah. The elves now are distinctly different from humans, but at what cost?

The new elves make even Cammen (sp? DAO dalish elven hunter, pursuing Gheyna) look beautiful. IMO the DAII elves look like fish with cat-noses.

Well i'm glad to see i am not the only one that thinks the elves in DA2 are....erm...i wouldn't say ugly...just not quite right somehow. I do hope if  there  is a DA3 and if  there are elves in it, then at least make them more attractive.
( i was referring to the devs)
Oh but wait....all they have to do is to shorten their face and neck, round the nose a little, make the eyes smaller...give them a slightly better build...ie...not too thin , and all will be well. 
I bet that is too much to ask.

The concept art doesnt look half bad, but someone REALLY goofed with the model and they just rolled with it. The result of rushing games out the window.

"Hey charlie how are those graphix coming up?"
"Good, but the elf models look like ***"
"Screw it we're out of time. Make fenris look like dante from DMC and give merrill a scarf to hide her neck!"

I like the new look, though i'm not bothered by that one from DA:O.

As for the naked picture, it's just really bad modeling and rigging not the fact that it's a new art style.

Some elves look pretty damn normal still. I guess their facial features vary greatly, like humans do in real life.
