Why do the elves have long elongated faces and huge eyes?

A big defining trait of elves (in-universe) in Origins was that they were supposed to generally be very attractive to humans. The new elves have lost this trait, creating a great deal of discontinuity. Bann Vaughan must have been pretty desperate.

Look Mommy..it's a mutated fish or donkey or both.

And why does he have a dwarven casteless tatt on his face? He's and guppie/donkey/dwarf?

I just noticed that too. It's very strange!

Personally, I find the new look very unsettling, ugly even. I don’t think they became more original either, as they remind me too much of the naavi.

If they all looked like Merril or Fernis (i.e more human0 that would be one thing. But they look like... well, whatever it is they look like.

Sans the horrible Hawke love scene with Merrill, I felt the same way Exile. Though Shadow of Light Dragon's making Felicia Day's elf look like the DA2's made me cringe. It wasn't as pretty as I thought.

Why are people fat? Why are people thin?

Perhaps different people look different?

Perhaps everyone who dislikes the DA2 elves are extremely shallow?

Rhetorical questions are fun :).

Na'vi.
I really would not be surprised if they thought to exploit the Na'vi's popularity that way.

In that screen of Merrill you can tell she has the body model of the elf ****s(edit: sexformoneyladies). When she is in her retardo landf 'underwear' its the same dumb looking corset from the elf ****s(sexformoneyladies). So Bioware didn't even have the dignity to design a unique unclothed body for one of the primary companions and a LI for their game. Really really really lame.

From what I understand they wanted a very specific feel to the 'new' art direction so that when you see a screenshot from DA2 people immediatley think "Oh thats DA2", however when in reality they think "Eww thats DA2" which is how a lot of us view the new art style of both Elves weird deformed anorexic donkey people, the bland horrible scenery and colour scheme of the majority of DA2 being Kirkwall and repeated caves etc, the clown'esque feel and look of the darkspawn but atleast they got their wish given their game is recognisable from screenshots via the new art style... Unfortuantly for a lot of people the art style and world in screenshots is more Eww than Oh.

To be fair the DAO companions also are given the generic body in these sequences Posted Image  given how tiny part of the game that sequence makes, it's easy to understand why they'd choose to spend the resources on other things instead.

That's just silly. The design may have been inspired by the Na'vi, but they aren't similar enough to be exploitative.

Somewhere on the forum I read they were supposed to look like fawns and this was to suggest their connection to the forest.

Rather obvious (I would have thought) tongue in cheek hyperbole.

No way, both elves are awful! Let's just throw in short people with slightly pointed ears that wear a lot of green and are immune to severe weather conditions.

They decided to break the elves' noses and stretched their ears in a wave of elf hate riots.

I beleive the elves were made ugly on purpose to make playing a Human more tolerable.

Obviously, the solution for DA3 is to move the elf eyes on the sides of their head, rather than point forward.

It was stupid in Origins too ... why is this everyones little snide answer? ... "well it was in Origins" They should have improved from one game to the next. The love scenes (where you see their bodies) was an area that needed improvement from Origins.

And NO it is not a small part of the game. The LI is vital part of the companion interraction of DA for many many fans. Special attention to detail should be used during these scenes because they are meant to be emotional and enhance your experience with the game and the companions.

Also why do so many customers feel the need to defend budget restraints and time restrictions? They need to put attention to detail into EVERYTHING. These guys are big budget, big money, and they built their little empire on the sales of fans like me who have been buying their games for myself and friends SINCE EVER SINCE (ok I skipped steel battalion and sonic but bought everything else) ...

like some said recently, their new nose is too similar to the Navi of Avatar, making the design far from original.

Bioware needs to take a look at the World of Warcraft Blood Elves. Now this is a beautiful elf.

All of the Dalish were put together beautifully.  As was Fenris.  And several others (City Elves, etc).  The ones at the Blooming Rose, Orana, and Huon...

They need some help.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a crush on Orsino xD  Posted Image

I would have accepted it in Origins, but to change it mid-series... sparks more anger than necessary. I didn't dig myself deep down in anger for every flaw and enjoyed the game, though replayabillity was bad due to the meaningful choices being few.

If you do a quick Google and find a dictionary Na'vi -> english, then search the word Na'vi in it, you'll get 'The People' -- funny how the elves began calling themselves that too in DA2... coinsidence?
