As for those people saying you had no choice...ok so you save the batarians..then reapers arrive, kill the system and move out. At least this way you've delayed them for a couple of weeks or so.

the only choices in game was to shoot the doctor and the choice to alert the batarian planets of the impact of the asteroid and the relay. i warned them  so i can get full paragon

It was a good enough DLC. The final fight was really amazing. Just a shame that the conversation with the reaper was so short.
.
8/10.

8/10 sounds about right. i enjoyed the dlc but the beefs i had were small like the reaper convo and the length of the gameplay. i died only once so im giving this a few more runs

So the Reapers did it to give Shep something to do? Ha! My point is that Reapers are behaving idiotically, they drew attention to themselves with the human abductions, fail, then remember they can get to the galaxy anyway.

If I were a Reaper, I would just wait until Shepard died naturally.  What's 80 or so years to them?

I still don't see why they needed to bother with the abductions, I'm pretty sure the invasion would of gone just as well without the half-made Human Reaper. Nevermind, have fun playing the DLC Cheez, I think we've diverted this thread away from reviewing Arrival enough.

Simple, they want to make a human reaper.

But they want Shepard as their vanguard.

Anyone actually get the stealth achievement yet?

In general. thought it was good - but I could have used so much more.

Face paced, a final dialog with harbinger, massive foreshadowing into ME 3 and finished off with a bang that made the destruction of the collector base look like a high school science project. Blood Beautiful.

It set up perfectly for Mass Effect 3 and I'm glad it's starting that way. Story wouldn't have made much sense if you had a choice though, "I'll just let the Reapers arrive early to save 300k people" may seem Paragon but it's also foolish and would screw up with the ME2 narrative too much.

At what point does it trigger...do you have to let her get tortured?

I didn't, I opened the door where she was and it unlocked after the cutscene.

I am confused about how you are relating these two events. Why does the contruction of a human Reaper negate their need to come to the galaxy?

My point is why they even bother with construction of the human Reaper when they can apparently, according to Arrival, travel to the galaxy anyway.

To be honest, I find it absurd that this costs as much as Lair of the Shadow Broker. This DLC is so short. Not saying it's bad, but, I expected something a bit longer.. It was fun though.

Multiple options, not all mutually exclusive.

1) Human-Reaper being an optional 'Sovereign Attempt 2.0' with all-Heretic Geth, to get the 'preferred' way back in. This also allows that traveling to the galaxy the long has some cost to the Reapers that they would prefer not to pay.

2) Instigating a war in the Terminus in a way that would ultimately advance their goals regardless. If they get the Human Reaper... all well and good. If they spark a Council-Terminus war, the galaxy is tearing itself apart and much less likely to unite.

3) Killing time until they got there.

1.Reapers invade using Alpha Relay
2. They destroy all of Earth's defenses
3. Collectors come in and abduct humans to make the next Reaper
because Humans had been selected for ascension

I just finished Arrival, played on Xbox, on hardcore difficulty. It took me almost exactly 2 hours to complete. I did not get the "survive 5 waves" achievement.

The level design. Blessings be upon the level designers. The Batarian prison was grimey and fun to explore. But the Project station is what really stood out to me. Thank you so much for making a space station that doesn't have all grey metal walls. The white textures with blue trim looked great. The glass tubes are something I have been wanting to see for a long time. I would love to see more glass tube space stations in colorful settings like bright gas giants or nebulas.

The combat was very fun and challenging. I play as an engineer and I did not expect to be challenged on hardcore difficulty. Still, it was quite fun being cornered in wave 4 or 5 of the Rho artifact sequence. I was frustrated I didn't survive 5 waves, but unwilling to try repeatedly on my first playthrough.

The Story was good. I found it a little dry, but overall still compelling with memorable high points.

The Admiral Hackett was great, I love this guy. Everyone loves this guy, and now they will love him even more. I made paragon choices and I was surprised to see Hackett's trust in my ability to do the right thing. I also liked his little nod that Normandy SR2 is no longer a Cerberus vessel. Damn right its not. Voice acting and dialog were stellar.

The Reaper. At first I disliked this exchange, mainly because I picked the paragon dialog choices and I thought Shep sounded a little weak. I will (and am eager to) replay this dialog sequence to hear all the permutations. I think I might enjoy being renegade to the reaper a bit more.

The lack of choice. I was sure when I started Arrival, I would have to choose whether or not to destroy the relay and kill 300k batarians. To my surprise, that was not an option, and my paragon efforts to alert the batarians were futile. So ultimately, playing Arrival guarantees a delay of the Reapers but instigates a conflict with Batarians. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, I was just surprised there doesn't seem to be any choice making in this DLC.

The solo gameplay. It was okay, but it felt noticably lonely, even with my combat drone at my side. Shep talking to himself was a little weird.

The Smoldering chunks of Dr. Kenson were a nice touch.

Definitely worth 7 dollars, I will be replaying again immediately as a Renegade :D

Very good review. I gree with pretty much everything.

from my understanding the reapers find the humans race very interesting than the rest of the other races, so going to the Citadel first is just a waste of their time. but if they can take the humans core worlds the rest of the galaxy would fall down easily.

The whole DLC was good and i enjoyed it. i liked the choices which i made in the end and what i told admiral Hackett.

The DLC was good. And worth the money. I'm just a little tired of the nobody (except a few of Shep's friends) believes the Reapers are coming story line. I want to get to fighting the Reapers already.

Oh right. I got confused xD I thought LotSB cost 560 also but that one costed 800. Oh well. I still think it was kind of short, but hey, to each his own. It's better than nothing. That's for sure. Since this is the last DLC I guess it's time for me to play my final ME2 playthrough.
