No, they weren't. You need to udnerstand exactly what the BIO guy is stating. It's a 'pie in the sky' type of statement.. kinda like one of us plebs saying 'i'd love to be a millionaire'. It's not really something we seriously think will happen as we know it liekly won't but it's ncie to dream.

No way no how did EA/BIO expect DA2 to sell 10mil copies. That would be akin to them wishing DA2 sold 3 times as much as DA1 did. Come on guiys, let's get our serious hats on for am minute and looking at things logically.

Let's not try to twist stuff out of context.

Again, nowhere can you find a post where BIO/EA states clearly that they expect DA2 to sell 10mil copies or they'd consider it a fialure.

However, we can find an EA statement where they say clearly that the KOTOR MMO needs to have 500k subscribers to turn a profit and a million to be really profitable.

So.. are you guys relaly gonna claim that they the expecattions that they expected DA2 to sell 10x - 20x as much as KOTOR MMO?

Come on, people, come on.

Then again, this is the same crowd that claims that BIO was a 'scrappy little dev' just two years ago.

Eh......we won't know the full effect of the changes till we see DA 3 pre-order sales be complete garbage. Right now they got their out of the gate money, which is all they apparently wanted from this game. That and to 'innovate to save the RPG'.

Lets all take a moment to reflect on life in general.


Yes - Dragon Age 2 did have its flaws.
Yes - There was alot of areas that were re-used, seemingly rushed, and poorly designed. (from gametrailers own official review)
Yes - There are more bugs in this game than there are in my attic (and my attic has alot).

But am I going to jump ship and give up totally on Bioware and the RPG's they crank out?
No.

Granted, it has been a long time since they made a success as big as Baldurs Gate, or Neverwinter nights (in my own opinion)
But they do try to create epic games,
granted... they seem to have epicly failed, especially when they are involved in a diabolical pact with EA, who as we all know, are agents of the Illuminati, who plan on starting the end of the world...
But all that aside....
If they keep trying to make an epic game, and even if they keep failing.... hopfully they will learn from their mistakes, and somehow.... accidentally make a brand new epic game that we love.
In the case of DA2, they seem to have gone a little backwards from DA:O.


So.. one more time, lets reflect, calmly, on life and how good it is... yip... done.....

Lifes a ****, and then you die...
Or, if your unlucky, your wife leaves you for a transvestite called Enrique, you lose the house and end up living in the car, in the carpark at work.
To top it all off... you find out that the cheating B!tCh gave you crabs.


But this isnt Biowares fault...
Its EA's fault.

That one is legitimate however. VGchartz is guesstimating, they have no actual data at this point. I'm moreso offended by the use of VgChartz than anything to do with Dragon Age really.

And it's in the top 20 overall in all platforms.

How many of those sales, are people buying the game, and then regretting it. Bet those sales dont count refunds.


Game Stores limited, here in the uk, allow you to 'take the game back' if you dont like it, as long as its within 14 days. (not pc games though)

There is alot of criticism about DA2, especially on these forums, it cant all be 'hog-wash'.

A high selling game, isnt an indicator of a good game, its an indicator of a Successful advertising campaign, and lets face it, how many of us bought DA2, because we loved DAO.  (Raises hand)

I loved Baldurs Gate 2
I still play Neverwinter nights 1 (but not 2, nwn2 is stupid, too slow, sluggish, and thats even with a computer that is 10 years ahead of nasa)

Actually to correct you, Amazon is one of the largest retailers of games in general, and yes for ALL 3 weeks, DA2 has been extremely low on the Amazon charts.

And to correct you on a further point of fact, DA2 never had 3 of the top 9 spots on VGcharts, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions were in the top 10 at the same time, now only the 360 version remains.

You shouldnt lie to try to make your own views seem valid, when clearly they are just false.

Almost 1 million sold in the first 2 weeks is hardly bad. I think it'll very easily get to 3-4 million in the long run. Even moreso if you take into account the eventual price cut, ultimate edition, etc.

Actually during the 2nd week, DA2 was in the top 10 on Amazon's best sellers list across all 3 platforms.  It has since dropped back down, lower than it was in the 1st week.

Yes, it would be great profit for even 1m in sales, since the game took less than two years to develop. Consider Origins took about 5 years.
