Tactics you wish you could set up (fun/serious thread)

Funny:
Fenris->Getting chewed on by the high dragon (again) ->cast barrier
- He got chewed on so many times in my first play thru that I really wanted this tactic since I was microing my DW rogue behind the dragon due to other tactics issues. Had to switch to other characters every once and a while to see if he was still standing or being chewed.
Merril-> Wait for the damn dragon to land ->cast petrify
- She is very fast casting petrify. So fast that with the few Mature Dragon fights (top of sundermount comes to mind) she would manage to petrify the Mature Dragons before it even landed! They didn't even hit the ground with a pleasing thump or anything. Which was ok for her and Anders... They just looked up and shot at it. Meanwhile my DW rogue and Fenris just stared at each other and thought "you want to get this one?" This defeated my tactics of pertrify->Hex->Mark->Assasinate.
Serious:
Chaining is nice, but where is the tactic to use explosive Strike once the chain is full? Ie, when you should be using it. Was always annoying to head back to my rogue every few seconds (pausing of course) just to click the button to release the chain.
Dispel Magic on a sustained ability. Even warrior bosses cast sustains that the dispel magic works on. I haven't figured this tactic out yet. Actually, I'm generally more concerned about the warrior boss sustains than actual magic users since most of those heal their mobs. For mages I just use anything that will knock them back or stun them to break the spells.
I think there's more, but for now that's a start.

I also find he gets stuck in a corner and surrounded by mobs far more often than any other companion. Then he just sits there and constantly gets staggered by the lowest of mob guys and effectively gets owned by a kid unless you send someone else over there to help.

yeah.. Anders has this weird concept of trying to hug the enemy mobs.

Anders draws aggro harder than my 2H Warrior having Goad and Armistice used, and I don't even think I have any offensive spells for him. The mobs are permanently set to 'go after healer', and it makes me sad.
NOT THAT ANDERS MAKES IT ANY MORE DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO BEAT HIS FEATHER-COATED ASS.

Enemy: Clustered with one or more allies > Ignore tactics
AKA don't Scythe me bro
As it is, I just omit Mighty Blow/Scythe/Whirlwind from his tactics entirely. Varric and Sebastian don't even have any archery talents besides Pinning Shot and upgrades.

As for Anders being a threat magnet, is Anders sustaining Heroic Aura or Elemental Weapons? Allegedly support abilities like said sustains will channel threat to the original caster based on their contribution to damage, even if it's other characters delivering the damage.
Of course I don't begrudge the AI going for healers as a priority. There's a reason why clerics in D&D wore plate!

I want to play strategically, pure enemies to a choke, door, hallway, etc.
Unless I put them on hold position, they will try to run through the doorway as I am hitting monsters and die >_>

actually, that reminded me of a fight where I was wondering where the 'lock door' tactic was.
Act 1 - 'fake' guardsmen in hightown house. Some of the mobs started in the back of the house, others started in the foyer. I could close the door in the fight (did that by accident when they spawned - thought it was funny... Hey look! People are coming to visit and we haven't cleaned up yet - Varric - No one's home, please go away! - Ave. as she closed the door)
It stopped the mob for 1-2 seconds, but that was long enough for my mage hawk and Varric to lob some AoE's into the doorway that was now jammed with the whole mob doing a routine.

Fenris: Can't Attack: BarrierFenris->Getting chewed on by the high dragon (again) ->cast barrier
I just want tactics with 3 sections not 2. 2 just doesn't work properly when setting conditions. It doesn't specify that the 1st or second condition is to be on the same target, thus forcing you to create exact conditions for the tactic to apply as intended.

Seriously, how many times do they have to kite enemies straight into my mighty blow, instantly killing him.
Also:
Anders -> Doorway at short range -> Glyph of Repulsion
Varric -> Enemy Cluster of 3 -> Jump -> Friendly cluster of 0 -> Mismiac Fask

Seriously. "But he still has his beard. Do you think it hurts?" Arg, it's funny, but I'm trying to prevent a war with the Qunari here. Don't give the Arishok more reason to crush us.
