Dwarf Noble definately changes how the whole game plays Image IPB

I have no doubt. There is not enough incentive for me to play through the whole game again to see it though. And that's a shame, because the Landsmeet was some of the best writing I've ever experienced in a game. But I just don't have that much fun anymore getting to that point. I'm not bashing the game, or bashing those who still enjoy it. I'm merely sharing my experience. DAO is still up there as one of my favourite games, because when I played it through for the first time I absolutely loved it, and I try to remember that feeling I first had, even now when I don't want to play it again. I just happen to prefer DA2's gameplay a whole lot more.

Exactly. I beat DA:O twice. Once as a Human, and once as an Elf. Started multiple games, but couldn't force myself to get through Ostagar.

DA2 is really replayable. It's like clockwork to me, though. Once you beat it once, you already have a feeling where you'll be going next and who you'll run into. Not so bad though. I really enjoy doing it over and over. Always get a chance to take a new spin off an old conversation with the personality feature. :]

2.  Deep Roads.  The first hour or so was fine, but it just dragged on and on.  I was so happy whenI finally got everything done down there that I said that I was never going to reply DA:O just for that long, drawn out experience itself.

3.  Fade.  Once is enough for me on that too.  No wonder people modded the game to skip it.

/shrug Those were 2 of my favorite parts of DA:O.  They were unique experiences in and of themselves.  No, they weren't "smash a button and something awesome happens instant gratification straight corridor finish in 5 minutes" layouts, but that was the point. :P

No offense, but I find that REALLY odd. I find DAO so much superior gameplaywise, it´s actually shocking.
Finished my 5th playthrough just yesterday and couldn´t sleep because i was already thinking about my next characterbuild:)

Five playthrougs of Origins seemed to be my own limit. One for DA2.

Though i have to admit, I used the skip fade mod on playthroughs 3-5.

Oh look, the DAO Cultists are out in force. Guess what? Not everyone hates Dragon Age 2. I'm replaying it now. My first character was a saintly female mage who romanced Anders, and in my current playthrough I'm playing a smart-alecky male mage who's romancing Anders. Even with just the gender and personality the only different variables, it feels like a very different experience and quite fun. It's also quite fun to watch my sexay ManHawke runnin' around with his shirt off. He's too sexy for his shirt! :D So yeah, I'll never join the DAO Cult, so stop sending me pamphlets. Ironically (coincidentally? tangentially? whatever), I have more interest in playing DAO after playing DA2 than I did before. I couldn't get past the silent protagonist and all the other "classic RPG" BS that people keep harping about. But now that the setting feels more alive to me, and I have some sense of what the world is about, I might pick up DAO and play it sometime. But I don't think I would ever become like the people on here who devote countless hours of their lives bashing DA2 for not being a recycled version of DAO. Games evolve, they change. Companies have to attract new audiences, and some audiences don't like to micromanage inventory and combat. Should that feature be in place for the hard-core glued-to-the-monitor types? Sure. But come on, it's not like Dragon Age 2 doesn't have enough stuff to keep you busy in that department. I'm already tired of looking at the inventory screen.

Funny the OP mentioned the Fade as part of his reason. I tried to play DAO again and when I hit the Fade part, I actually got ill. I had to turn it off and go grab some medicine.

Request for any other game Bioware does... NO Fade or anything like it.

I'm probably about 35 hours in to DA2 and just starting act 3, and I'm already interested in replaying DA2 at least a couple times to try out other relatinships, and how the game progresses as a Mage, and to make some other decisions.

I only played DA:O once, and as much as I loved it, I can't bring myself to replay the game aside from checking out the origins.  I think there is a few reasons for me:

1.  Origins decisions overall were not difficult.  I don't believe I would have concluded the Circle quest with any different decision, or the Redcliffe scenario with any different decision, or the Landsmeet.  I suppose I could reload to view a dramatic scene or something, but since it's so easy to have a happy resolution of most issues I don't see the point of wanting to purposely make bad decisions.

So far in DA:2 I haven't noticed any required, drawn-out meandering quest that kept me stuck underground for 12 hours.  So, thus far I haven't had any moments where I was so bored/annoyed that I made a note to myself not to replythe game.

Just my opinion, and I am a fan of DA:O or I wouldn't have bought DA:2, but DAO wasn't all roses and sunshine for me.

Instead of writing all that waffle, you could of saved time and posted 'Dragon Age: Origins is too complicated for me '.

I wish I could replay it, but I don't feel like dealing with the nastier bugs again.

PC doesn't have to do that. Press R once until the opponent dies or you go to another target then press R once again.

PC version I rank higher than the 360 because of auto-attack and the work done by the modders. I have it on PC and 360. I can't even play it on the 360 after doing the PC version until they fix the auto-attack. Mods I can take them or leave them really. They add to it but not necessary like auto-attack.

He's a great friend of Spreadsheet: The Game.

(...actually, I'm a big fan of many games that have been derided as spreadsheet games. I have a math degree, after all. I like tweaking numbers, it drives my D&D DMs nuts.)

I got the 360 version first because I had DAO for that plus when we were doing the demo, I didn't know about the auto-attack available on PC either. And I'd rather mash the A button than the mouse button. That was brutal. Plus I thought imports would really matter back then.

But what little the import does matter, there is a mod now that creates import saves to use.

If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have bothered getting it on the 360 and just got it for the PC. But on the upside, I got the PC version for 47 dollars from Amazon and 360 for net 40 dollars after Best Buy gave me 20 dollars back with their match sales price policy.

DA3 would be PC for me but I'm probably going to get it late and not bother. I'll wait for the reviews. Blind faith only lasts to the next product. After that Bioware has to prove themselves worthy again.

Same for me OP.  I loved DAO, and I tried to do a second playthrough, but I couldn't finish it.  I think it was just too long for a 2nd run.  I think a 2nd round of DA2 is better for me too because I think the combat is a lot more fluid now; and playing a mage as opposed to a warrior is a lot more different than how it was in DAO (i.e. playing a warrior is now akin to playing Dynasty Warriors).

Like I said in another post, DA2 is a great game.  It's a little different from DAO, but it's a great game in its own right.

You didn't like the new combat?  Which version do you have?  I couldn't survive a lot of the battles if I just pressed "A" all the time.  I constantly switch characters, use the combo and kite.  DA2 is a lot harder for me than DAO.

Honestly, I don't know if I would have as much fun with the game if I got the PC version though.  I don't really like auto-attacking, so I got the Xbox one.

The fade was great the first time.  But when I tried to re-load even some parts of it in... bleagh.. I also couldn't wait for the Deep Roads to be over.  The story was great there, and also the last part, but it was too long..

DA2 is a great game and so is Origins. People who are saying DA2 sucks and their arguement that the combat is a button masher or not tactical is just stupid.

Button mashers are games like Devil May Cry and Dynasty Warriors. Origins being more tactical is your opinion but really pause and play in Origins was so not needed considering how terribly balanced each class was. Mage killing everything in any gear you could find. At least in DA2 soloing contest is a lot harder. And I pause A LOT in DA2.

Well, I heard there's this great mod over at nexus everyone's talking about when thinking about the fade part...

But yes, the fade part was quite dry after the first playthrough.

It's hardly fair to say "Game A is perfect! ...except for X, Y, and Z, which needs a mod to remove it." ^_^

Try playing Origins after DA2... didn't last 10mins. The combat setup and travel speeds are incredible.. I felt like it was a serious downgrade; which makes me sad because i abo****ely loved DAO and Awakening :(

Am i reading this right though? Does that last post say its been since december 12 of 2009?
