A Vanguard upload that doesn't use Stasis.

Have you survived all enemy waves? Yes
Have you enjoyed the fight? Yes
Difficulty level: Insanity
Shepard's class: Infiltrator
Weapons used: Carnifex, Tempest, Widow, Arc Projector
Bonus power: Warp Ammo
Started off by going cloaking, and heading right, towards the first project guard. Killed him at point blank with the Tempest, then took cover behind the barrier. Then I made my way along the outside wall, using cloak, to make it to the corner with the couches, picking up ammo on the way. I then worked my way throught the first two waves. When the third wave appeared (the one with the Pyros, Elites and Engineers, I used the Arc Projector once (only had 3 ammo for it to start with). Then using the Widow, I eliminated them until the YMIR mech appeared. At that point it was cloaking/running to cover with shooting in between, until it was over.
If I had to do it again, I would take advanced training to give myself a useful bonus power. I didn't use warp ammo at all. Area Energy Drain would have been my choice.

Have you survived all enemy waves? YES (after numerous attempts)
Have you enjoyed the fight? Yes (first few attempts), then no (goddamn pyros), then yes
Difficulty level: Insanity
Shepard's class: Adept
Weapons used: Vindicator; Locust; Brain
Bonus power: Warp Ammo
What strategy have you used?
Watch on YouTube
I used my usual strategy of camping in the start point, and starting with death to the guy on the right before I focused left.
To conserve lolammo I decided to use Warp Bombs almost exclusively for my kills.
Method of killing...
1. Singularity
2. Upon collision, lean out and drop shields while the target is held still and not shooting me
3. Warp Bomb
The explosions were very helpful at dropping shields of surrounding mooks, too, further allowing me to conserve lolammo.
For the pyros, I tried to shoot the tanks. But if I couldn't pop them quickly enough I'd hit Throw to get them off me and give me time to try again. Unfortunately the one I had to Throw somehow had diamond tanks. I shot a tank, but it didn't pop... so I used Pull, and then Warp Bombed the bastard.
...he landed behind me - alive. o.o
Somehow I wasn't staggered when he dropped my shields (guess I caught him during the 'window of invincibility'?), so I hit Throw and finished him with a quick needler burst while he lay on the ground in a heap.
Elites and Engineers called for me to whip out the Locust so I could quick-drop their shields. During the final wave, after I finished the last Engineer, I kept the Locust out.
Then I ran to the right, almost derping up, but I survived and even managed an opportunistic warp bomb.
Took cover in my trademark anti-YMIR spot, and got flanked by some dude who thought he was a vanguard.
I slapped a Singularity on his ass, his shields practically vanished when I pulled the Locust's trigger, then I beat him to death with his own spine. Poor bastard never stood a chance.
After that it was simple clean-up. I tore a couple of mooks up, then bombed a petrified Elite right in front of the YMIR... then the YMIR glitched and fell through the floor... exploding in the process.
How anti-climactic and frustrating.
But oh well, I survived. I was not going to do that again. When I beat Rho... I do not go back until a completely new playthrough. NEVER.
Watching the unskippable cutscene so many times and going through so many surprise critical mission failures is enough, thanks.

why the throw field ? just as a stun device ?
i lol'd at a few comments .

Have you enjoyed the fight? Yes
Difficulty level: Insanity
Shepard's class: Soldier - Hardened AR
Weapons used: Vindicator, Claymore, Mantis
Bonus power: Tungsten Ammo
Take out first two guys on right and left, run right and then across the room. Camp out at the L-shaped cover with the Vindicator and Mantis. Take out Pyros at range. Punish those who get close with the claymore.

In some other videos I've used Throw to do the odd Home Run. So I'm glad I maxed it out.
When I'm not stressed for time/survival it also gets in some collision kills.

With the starting point method, as long as you stick to the cover and remain close to the cover box beside it (the one where if you try shifting to/from Shep can sometimes glitch and STAND UP FOR NO REASON ._. ), it generally works. Every so often someone will still try running up the stairs and around the top left of the room to flank you if you don't kill them quickly enough, but it's not common enough to pose a real threat usually.CaolIla wrote...
Nice Caj. I always get flanked at that starting point, but everyone who manages the fight at that position makes it look so easy. And another bug I haven't seen so far, I think he was just so disappointed that his shield was gone, he combusted.
If you step back to get the starter thermal clip on the floor that can also trigger a mass of flankers to make your life hell, so it shouldn't be done at the wrong time.

Have you enjoyed the fight? YES / NO
Difficulty level: Insanity, Xbox 360
Shepard's class: Soldier
Weapons used: Vindicator, Viper, Claymore, Avalanche
Bonus power: Stasis
What strategy have you used?
Watched CaolIla's video of soldier to get an idea of strategy. Fumbled around and tried going
right first, quickly gave up and started moving left of starting position. This fight totally
negated my bonus weapon, Claymore - could not get out of cover to get close enough to use it on
anyone ( well two guys toward the end ). After many attempts ( more than in my failure vid ) I started
using avalance to get rid of some guys. In the successful vid I use stasis on the Mech and I think he
must have got hit by friendly fire, because I never saw him again. Also used medi-gel. How much Medi-gel? Eight. If I would have had nine, I would have used nine.
I have two vids to post. The first is the ending of some of my more valiant attempts, although
I'm sure each of us has seen a few of those.
The second vid is the successful one, and you actually can see the xbox achievement pop at the end.
Close but No Cigar < sorry, but the fourth failure repeats, bad editing >
Successful Run

Have you enjoyed the fight? Yes
Difficulty level: Insanity
Shepard's class: Soldier - Heightened AR
Weapons used: Revenant, GPS, Mantis, Arc Projector
Bonus power: Improved Flashbang
Call me a noob,<_< but camping the start point is certainly viable. Spamming Arc projector against the later waves works very well. Due to the sheer number of enemies, I didn't get any good chances to flashbang some fools.
Difficulty level: Insanity
Shepard's class: Infiltrator - AR Training
Weapons used: Mattock, Viper, Arc Projector
Bonus power: Improved Flashbang
Agent + Enhanced cloak is your friend...it allows easy ammo scavenging for the Mattock + Widow. On the final wave, I go for CQC: Cloak - assassinate one enemy - cooldown - cloak. In fact, cloak is probably the best power for solo missions.
EDIT:Why did I have Mattock + Widow on my infiltrator? That's not fair...
Now I need to find my old Vanguard playthrough...

This sounds somehow familiar "Fumbled around and tried going
right first, quickly gave up and started moving left of starting position.".
There are some videos that make this fight look so easy, even if they are moving around the whole time and barely - if at all - use cover. But apart from the Vanguard I didn't even make it once without using your position.
That your Mech spontaneously combusted is a shame, but the fight can be such a pain, that I think he deserves whatever he gets... just like Kenson, the stupid old nagging hag.
And I see the typical "I DON'T WANT TO DIE NOW!" behavior, after the mech is down and just Mercenary 84 and 85 are still standing... brings back memories of every Project Rho fight I ever made
@Eckswhyzee: I always get flanked at the starting point and never made it like that, so no noob in my eyes ; ) And you might be right with your statement regarding cloak.

Actually I think it's best to camp the start point with Soldier, as ARush saved me from 2 random pyros. I literally spotted them at the last second, and only just managed to kill them before I was in flamethrower range. I would make some gameplay vids, but my laptop isn't exactly the most powerful. (OT: what programs do you pro people use?)
---------------------------------------
On another note, I'm still quite far away from the SM on my insanity+ playthrough. Will let you know how I go........

I did not have any luck at the initial point, maybe with the mattock I'd have a better chance. I also noticed that I left out of my failure video some choice pyro deaths
If I ever do this again with a soldier, I'm going to take the Mattock or Revenant - vindicator does not kill enough guys per Arush, or the widow - the viper makes me spend too much time out of cover.

It's not a loved rifle, but a fully tricked out & upgraded Mantis with lvl 4 disruptor ammo can one-shot anyone who's not a project elite or project engineer even on insanity.

That was great. It took your vanguard half the time it took my soldier. I notice that your Ymir died similar to the one in my video. I think that when you cast stasis on it, if that artifact pulses at the right time the artifact kills it. at 3:39 you cast stasis, at 3:49 its gone. It was beautiful.

Shepard's class:Adept
Weapons used: GPS only . ( EDIT/ also brought carnifex, locust, arc projector )
Bonus power: enhanced stasis ( the Ymir also blew up after stasis )
pretty much stayed in the L shape console on the left
Arrival is one mission where i find wide singularity really helpful. I often detonated 2 enemies at once .
