Beat it on insanity with my area reave Sentinal and the Locust - not that hard for a  reaver sentinal because whenever you need to move you just reave someone with the health boost and your tech armor you can move around the level pretty easily which you kinda need to when the YMIR shows up.

Has an Adept beaten this mission yet on insanity without using an exploit? I don't think Bozorgmehr was going to survive that mech without the stasis glitch. That mech had full shields and there were 2 engineers, an elite, and a regular guard still alive in the room and his ammo was low and his barrier was down. The only thing left to do would have been to stasis the mech again and try to run to better cover but with those four guys still alive I don't think that would have worked.

I love Bozo's videos he's a great player for sure but I'm wondering if an adept can actually really do this level on insanity.

I had to reload fairly often [had problems handling the mech] but played 100% exploit free with my Adept and won on Insanity.

I just ran left to L-shaped cover on the left, bunkered down,  used Area Energy Drain to zap shields, Singularity / Pull / Warp Bombs played a larger role than I thought.   Arc Projector was used to 1-shot any Pyros ASAP.

I made it deep into wave 5 "easily" every single time but dealing with the mech was a pain.  When I made it I concentrated on killing goons instead of the mech, emptied my heavy weapon, used Medigel to regen and keep up the heavy weapon ROF.  When I got past the mech's armor it was trivial to dispatch the mech.  I then mopped up one last goon that managed to survive with Singularity / Warp Bomb.

Edit:  It occurs to me that Heavy Weapon && Medigel spam may be considered an exploit but I just consider it the "easy way out" ... YMMV.

Have you survived all enemy waves? YES
Have you enjoyed the fight? YES

Difficulty level: Insanity
Shepard's class: Infiltrator
Weapons used: Locust&Widow
Bonus power: Stasis

What strategy have you used?

My strategy was to bunker down and kill them like a boss. I didn't want to kill heavy mech, I just wanted to strip it's defenses and hack it. Well, I sniped it and the nuke went off. I'll post Soldier video soon (although it wont be my cannon soldier with widow).

BTW: I did some testing with Dominate on this level. I found it not to be terribly useful. On classes that can easily deal with shields I imagine it could provide a MUCH needed distraction vs. the heavy mech but I found other skills vastly more useful FOR MY PLAYSTYLE.

I'll try this with my Adept to see if I can find an "easy mode" button for that class :)

Yeah, I agree, I think the only thing that is difficult about this battle is the YMIR at the end.  If it gets too close to you, you have to move and if the goons are still alive there is a very good chance you won't survive as an adept.  I wouldn't consider Medigel use an exploit at all, nor the use of a heavy weapon although I never carry one because I hate the look of it on my FemShep's back.  To me an exploit is when something happens or is done that keeps you alive that was never intended - I also wouldn't count it if the mech got stuck somewhere which they sometimes do.

Did it once with a Widow Soldier. Made to Wave 3?
Tryed with a Vanguard. Wave 2?
Widow Infiltrator. Didn't even beat Wave 1
Revenant Soldier. Wave 2.

I may try with my Assault Sentinel later or my Reave Engineer.

My main weakness seems to be advancing enemies and the "Fight for your life" battle played to that weakness. Usually if I find myself in way over my head, I tend to pull back. Except this time there's nowhere to pull back.

Don't get me started on Pyros.

Oooo yes, I hate them!!! Always get me when I am happily bashing his buddies.

Just did another run with the Katana shotgun - Cryo ammo was suprisingly effective (because Katana cant OSOK them) - freeze everyone then go back and kill em. Too bad those freaking pyros can sometimes fire at me even when frozen >.<"

[edit]
Statis Mech - kill all goons, fresh statis on Mech if needed - then CAIN the Mech - you may take me but not before I nuke u :devil:

This. Nothing is as satisfying as one shotting heavy mechs.

Exploit is a bit strong of course.   With the Shield Regen & Heavy Weapons you can keep up an insane ROF going that may or may not have been intended.

Whether it is or not things like the Reload Trick or Stasis "bugs" seem more exploity to me but it all depends on where you draw the line :)

In a single player game I don't care much though.  I play the way that makes me happy and others can do the same.  Win-Win.

Recommendations: Before the final wave make sure you kill off the Elites and Engineers first. If all that's left are 2 [hurt] goons when the final wave launches you'll be in better shape.

^^The sweetspots are exploits, IMO. The AI just stops working when you bunker up in those spots. They aren't particularly protected spots in the conventional sense, they're just spots where the AI inexplicitly won't flank you.

I agree.  I noted earlier I'm a hypocrit.  I don't like the Reload "trick"/exploit or the Stasis bug.   However I'm perfectly happy to explot AI pathfinding.

Otherwise I'd only get about half of my classes through this ... and then only after loading & reloading way too much :)

Not by that name.  We usually just call them "80% of Mass Effect 2 players."

Well, I cant explain why femsheps are not as popular as malesheps.
Hah, I belong to 80% people who mostly play as a soldier.I had also finished the game with every class, so I'm in another group but way smaller than others:)

For me the horrible voice acting alone keeps me from playing male shep. Hale does a way way better job.

I actually really like the maleshep voice(s). The Paragon and Renegade malesheps sound like two distinct people, whereas P & R femshep just sound like the same person, just either happier or madder.

Male/Female Shep is off topic..if we continue this, Pacifien will most certainly lock this one.
