Yes and in Me3 Shepard could physically punch a hole in a reaper, but for now it's hypotheicals. What we have is ME2 LI's and Liara -2 Ashley and Kaidan -0. Whats Biowares excuse for the lack of VS in Arrival?

Yes, but even when I hate on sh*t, it's never out of fear. Most of the time it's because I honestly don't like it (Liara as an author's pet with the most impervious of all plot armor and a personality that changes to suit the current plot's needs). Sometimes, it's because the fanbase is either confusing me or pissing me off (Shiala). And occasionally, it's for the sake of lulz (Harbinger) or irony (because Garrus actually pisses me off all the time).jeweledleah wrote...
@ Cheez. you haven't exhibited any hate here, and I'm not seeing you being afraid of anything, so my questions I suppose do not apply to you.
Fear? No. If I were worried about my favorite character not returning, I'd talk about the odds (s)he had of returning. Why the hell would I pick on Kaishley fans?
Your post was bitter as hell and made no sense, is what I'm trying to say, no offense. Normally, you're pretty chill, but that was, like, whoa.

I'm very happy the VS was not in Arrival. Arrival was disappointing and I would really like to see a good reunion with the VS. Hopes up for ME3 (properly done).
I agree, what with the whole 'did you cheat' aspect too I think it was far too much to put into a cheap DLC about the reapers.
I really liked Arrival though. The stealth bit was obviously a lack of a new gameplay mechanic but other than that it was fun, I liked the atmosphere, and I'm not stupid, I could pick tonnes of plot holes etc but why should I? It's just a story and I'm quite happy to let my brain go into relaxed mode and just enjoy it. I didn't have a problem with the choice because Shep did exactly what I would have done. But I still don't think the VS should have been there, just doesn't fit. Hackett also says this is a favour to him, you aren't doing it for the alliance. So the VS wouldn't know about it anyway.
Plus on a mission so important, I wouldn't want a former LI there complcating emotions, I was quite happy with the emotions set off by the struggle to stop the reapers.

Whether BioWare just didn't want them turning up or couldn't afford the cost of the VA I still feel it's a shame such a cameo wasn't incoporated. And I'm not really a 'VSmancer' (Miranda, Jack and Garrus all the way baby) - I just honestly feel it would have benefitted the story.
With that said having the DLC set after the SM would have benefitted the story a whole lot as well.

Kaidan is calm and thoughtful, definitely the angel on your shoulder. His stories of BAat were quite cool without being over the top (like Jack's backstory) He's the poster boy for someone with a messed-up life and managed to overcome it. I'd take him as a squadmate over Jack any day. At least I could be sure he won't go on a killing spree with the crew.
That's why I always prefered Kaidan over Ash. I thought he was a fiarly well done character. Probably my second favorite after Liara.

Having finished the DLC I was left with the distinct impression it was a missed opportunity to have the VS cameo again, this time returning the favour and saving Shepard.
Oh please anything but this "VS as Mary-Sue" thing. Personally I'm tired of seeing Shepard die, getting knocked out by alien devices, get threatened by a military court, threatened by the Council for treason, etc... Lets let our hero [Shep] get down to the business of being a hero without being saved again.
As for the VS they're going to have a vastly more direct role [IMHO] than Liara or maybe even the ME2 LIs [that can die] so you'll probably get your cake & be able to eat it too while the REST of us are whining that we only get an Email from our LI. Right now I'm just hoping for a nice epilogue for most of my LIs as I suspect there won't be tons of interaction during the game.
BTW: My favorite ME1 LI was Ash so I'm not a hater of the VS.

Personally I was at least hoping for an opportunity to confirm my Shepard's LI status post-ME2, just to be sure that the flags are set for where I want them to be in ME3. A nice little chat with the VS about whether or not we want to continue a relationship after a timely rescue would have been great.
I'm thinking now the VS will be involved in helping Shepard with the trial or breaking out of prison, probably finally deciding that stopping the Reapers and helping Shepard is more important than their duty to the Alliance. The VS and Liara are the only characters who can't die prior to ME3 so it's highly likely they will play some major role.

In addition, this mission is playable right after Horizon — right after the VS tells Shep off and calls him/her a traitor. After that spat, they're supposed to go on a highly dangerous mission together.
C'mon, folks.

Look, Hackett tells Shep flat out that the Alliance can't get involved here. Shep's with, or is perceived to be with, Cerberus now. In the worst case, he gets caught and the Alliance still has plausible denial.

Even if you play this DLC after the SM as it is intended - where should the VS be? On the Project (How would they know its location??)?
Lets say they were on The Project, If so they should be indoctrinated like the rest and I send them crashing into the Relay - after that in ME3 I get Court Martial for killing Alliance officer??
They simply had no part in this DLC - that's all. I am sure they will play a huge part in ME3 because Earth is under attack.

Woah there, care to read the rest of my post? I'm not interested in the whole VS romance/mary sui-ing debate. I just think they would have fit into Arrival's plot nicely.
I see a lot of people complain about VS-mancers (or whatever the latest buzzword is) around here, but all I actually read are said people complaining about them. Loudly. Often rudely. It's like the backlash to Tali fans all over again. Calm down guys!
As for my suggestion of Ash or Kaidan helping Shepard escape, I hardly think that is an example of glorifying their characters. I was, in fact, thinking only of how Shepard bailed them out on both Virmire and Horizon and it would be a fun moment to have them return the favour. Especially given how they left things with Shep on Horizon. It wouldn't make Shepard look bad, he/she needed a lift off the Project anyway and had already done the hard work. Lastly it would be the most cost effective way of having them show up, as they would only be present for a small portion of the DLC (I am aware that the cost was no doubt still too high for the level of DLC being produced, but that's another debate entirely).
Lastly, in regards to Hackett's comment about the Alliance not getting involved: It already is as soon as that asteroid sets course for the Relay. Without even getting into the fact that governments everywhere have the ability to send out special ops units without any clear indicator of their alleigance and orders not to be taken alive, it would hardly be a stretch to imagine Hackett sending a respected and highly commended agent to follow up after Shepard's disappearance. I believe the VS was even undercover on Horizon as well, so they would have experience going into areas that can't know they are Alliance.

Yes and that's why I mentioned people being fans of multiple charcters. you don't have to declare you're the fan onf only one character, hell I'm a fan of almost all of them. I'm upset that the characters were treated poorly while other characters were given major roles and oppourtunities were missed or ignored while other hcaracters wer changed due to fan demand. The Garrus and Tali fan bases were in this same predicament when they wanted their charcters to be romanceable and now they have what they asked for, but not the Virmire survivor fans, it's already bad enough we HAVE to kill one of them now whoevers alive in the game gets hidden away in some prison.leonia42 wrote...
@ADLegend21: I agree, polls aren't a good metric. That's why I also mentioned discussions
Which gives me my 6th idea on how they could have been included. Hackett sent the VS to rendevous with the Dr for an update and that's when Kenson and Williams/Alenko were arrested so you have to break the BOTH out of prison. Kenson turns on you both and you two have to fight through the project. Shepard or the VS warns the System about the project and give them a chance to evacuate before activating the project and destroying The relay. After the debrief, in which the VS advocates for the Commanders actions to Hackett, you have a reunion scene with the VS and continuation of the romance should there be one. As much money as bioware made off ME2 and the DLC and Comics they could afford to bring in both VA's and throw us VS fans a bone. I guarantee that would have made Arrival a much better DLC and worth the price of LoTSB instead of 560 points.

And frankly, this type of backlash has been slowly building up; VS on making a cameo where they yell at Shepard, no dossier of any kind in LoTSB, no chance at all to reaffirm their relationship. Simply saying "be patient" is hardly a satisfying response.
