Gamestop had an absolutely devastating review of this DLC that was also extremely well-written (and the score was 5/10): http://www.gamespot....val/review.html

Mass Effect 2 is my favorite game in the last 10 years. That Bioware thought that this DLC was an appropriate "bridge" seriously raises concerns over what they're going to do with ME3, and where they buried the bodies of the fine devs who made Shadow Broker.

I really wouldn't trust what gamespot , ign , or gametrailers have to say , these are the same people who whined and complained about the new castlevania going back to it's original roots because it wasn't metroidvania.Comparing the game to GOW (which played , beaten is far from it and a great game) , and yet it's sold over 800,000 in sales going up against other AAA titles released on or near the same day.I'm sure they're going to be whining about something in ME3 in some way , and will lower the score for the heck of it.

Anybody on the fence , I'll put it this way.If you don't like having to rely on your self without your squad mates you probably won't like this dlc.If you don't mind that then you will enjoy this dlc.(For me it was way better than the Kasumi dlc but not as good as Shadow Broker dlc.)

I loved it for one reason, driving home why Shepard is so respected. I didn't like how small the scope was, especially after how incredible LotSB was. But I really wanted to play through some kind of scenario that forced Shepard against really difficult odds all alone, and still coming out on top. It was especially sweeter since my Shep was a soldier, so the impact of a mere human w/o any biotics tearing through a facility on his own was even more significant.

This dlc its bad. Its short, its linear and the choices are meaningless (you get the same outcome either way)

I don't necessarily trust them either, but I do agree with everything the gamespot reviewer said. You do know that there's not one guy reviewing everything, right? Different people review different things. Anyway, I'm sure they will give ME3 its just desserts.

As anyone noticed that if you load your last save after Arrival the Normandy is in our solar system?

I couldn't help but think "cool thought".

So you got our money from the DLC Bioware, can you fix the game now?

It is curious.  The levels are fantastic.  I really liked the elevators, the skywalk tubes, the muffled noice in near zero gravity.  I think they just spent all the money/time on the level and Lance and just kind of slapped something together for Hackett, figuring he was not going to be in the DLC long.  That's just a guess, though.

I thought Bungie.Net sucked, but Bioware's community seems desperate to beat 'em.

Biotics are actually underpowered in ME2 imo, particularly at higher difficulty settings.  As for Arrival i think it's too short, certain plot elements have been used before and the stealth part is awkward as it's not really suported by the gameplay mechanics but just hacked in during level design. Also story wise ME2 was weaker than ME1 and this story only widens some of the huge plot holes. That said i did find the last stand fight fun as it really showcases how the AI tries to flank(even if the pathfinding has some kinks) which is not always apparent since your teammates do cover your flank.

Agreed , but I think ME3 will get things back on track and have a stronger story given that the reapers will be in full force.

No Killjoy, it isn't. It doesn't have any lasting effects on the universe at all, you get some cool moments... but that's pretty much it. There is little to no dialogue in it. You should just watch a whole playthrough on Youtube instead of wasting your money on DLC that wasn't what Mass Effect 2 deserved as a send off. Bioware got lazy on this one.

It was a good DLC but I expected better from BioWare. They said they listened to feedback...did they? Once again, they made a DLC that was too short, and they could have done so much more with the story and characters. Although the conversation with Harbinger was nice.
It was decent, but it seemed like BioWare didn't put much of an effort into it, at least when compared to the other DLCs. To sum it up, it was a missed oppurtunity.
Learn from this, BioWare.
- Make your DLCs longer.
- When there is potential for a great story, create one.
- Add some extras for after the DLC is over. LotSB and Kasumi did this brilliantly.
- Sections like the skycar chase and controlling a mech work well. Use them more often in your DLCs.
- I appreciate the new combat elements you added (stealth, wave battle, multi-pathing) but the enemies are still too generic.
- More boss fights.

Why did I post this here? Because I'm sure BioWare will see it. Overall, the ME2 DLC has been great, but there is definitely room for improvement.

This sums it up nicely. Take notes from this man Bioware!

Just a suggestion: Instead of continually taking notes, Bioware should hire the best in the business so they wouldn't have to take notes.  :P  If you can't attract the best talent because nobody would rather work in Edmonton ( even hockey players being paid million don't want to play for the Edmonton Oilers if they have a no moving clause), move in the US.  =]

First of all I want to congratulate Bioware team on all of awards that you have won with this fantastic game. Second thing I want to thank every man and women whose great imagination and hard work helped create this game. And when I said this game, I actualy mean both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. But I have to say that last DLC was a complete failure, it missed to create core thing that is geniune characteristc for ME universe, and that is to create our own desicions. It was WAY to LINEAR, witch is not something ME universe is known for. Shepard should be making it's own decisions, it was like that trought ME1 and most of ME2, and even in every DLC that has been out, exept for this one. I understand that you had to make some sort of bridge betwen ME2 and ME3, but this was to extreme, you just make Shepard looks like a war criminal, and player couldn't even choose wheter he want that or not. I meant to say that we should have the option to choose wether or not we are going to smack that asteroid in the mass relay or not. If we do, we are geting a lot of regenerate points, and we go back to Earth on trial for that and work for cerberus and things get easyer in ME3, or we don't, and we get a lot of paragon points, and again go back to Earth but this time to try and warn Alience about reapers, but in ME3 we have a lot tougher job of defeting reapers.
Also, soundtrack in ME2 is fantastic, and even in DLC-s, like LOTSB, and especialy Overlord, but here, in Arivall was totally off, sometimes even frustrating, exepct in that one short period where you need to get from the engens to the shttule to escape. To sumarise, you should really make it up to all of your fans by patching up this DLC, by giving us the oppotunity to choose whether or not we are going to destroy relay or not, but if this is not a possibility, then at least make a good game of ME3, like geting us a chance to choose who we are going to take with us in squad. For example, if everybody survived in ME2, then it would be great to choose who will be in squad, from them, and from new characters, and from characters from ME1, and not just recruit this, recruit that, like in ME2 without any option to make desicions ourselfs. This would give us a lot room for diferent playtroughts, with diferent squad members. Something similar you manage to made in ME1, when you choose wether you will ask help from Garrus or Wrex, you can go with option to get them both to the team, but you also can take just one of them, and the other will stay on citadel in c-sec, that created very good illusion of non-linear game, and now in this DLC it was all gone.
And one other thing, personaly I like hybrid that you manage to made in ME2 (third person shooter with elements of RPG), fights were much more fun and realistic than in ME1 and you should go with that in ME3, but with more RPG elements in the game. I posted this here like a hardcore fan of ME series  witch I am (I played ME1 and ME2 at least 25 times combined :-S to get different story lines) because, I belive modestly that someone from Bioware team will see this, and perhaps it would help them, to create best game in the trylogy, a truly masterpiece (your fans expect nothing less from you Bioware). Thanks.
P.S. And one other thing, I don't know if eneybody noticed that cinematic parts in ME1, like those conversation with Wrex, they look much more realistic than any other in ME2, exepct with Mordin, my point is: more cinematic ME3 please, more details. Because if you can deliver that, with a fantastic story, great script, and at least as good soundtrack like that one from ME2, witch was apsolytle master piece, and even better acting if that's even posible, and truly good hybrid betwen RPG and TPS, and a little bit more non-linear game, like what you did in ME1, and finaly but not les important, great scenary like you manage to create with Ilos in ME1, I mean it was like you are actualy there it had an atmosfere and soul of tryly uniqe real and old place in the game, then you have a chance to enter in history as a development team who created best uniqe trylogy ever in gaming industry, and your fans will not forget this. I just humbly hope I wasn't to late with some of ideas witch could be useful, however I trust in Bioware team determination to create something special, and as a fan I am giving them support.

It's another Mass Effect adventure, dude, and the last you'll get before Mass Effect 3. It was fun, don't listen to the qq forum trolls. They're just mad because "none of the choices matter". None of the choices "mattered" in LotSB, either. Nobody ****ed about it there. A bunch of folks die at the end, and despite you attempting to warn everyone off, the universe conspires against you and renders you ultimately ineffective.

"The Arrival" is the Mass Effect equivalent to the Star Trek "Kobiyashi Maru" no-win-situation. I didn't have much problem with it.

I think it is worth the money, at least for all the mass effect fans. The dlc was in my opinion a missed opportunity to make something as good as Overlord (I´m not comparing with shadow broker because it was cheaper) or Kasumi. There are some brigth points inside, but the whole thing was rushed and lacked a lot of polish. I bought it blindly because i thought it would be decent, it was worse than i thought, but still i don´t regret it because as a mass effec fan i would have probably bought it eventually. For some people going alone with shepard and a hard fight was refreshing, for others it was about the codex entries and the cinematic ending (very well done). As i said the dlc could have been much more, but probably all the team went to work on ME3 and the dlc suffered for lacking enough time to polish all the rough edges.

Whether you play it or not, what happens in the DLC is canon and leads directly to Mass Effect 3's opening. If you just want to know what happens in the DLC watch someone's gameplay on youtube. If you want to get another great Mass Effect 2 adventure and see for yourself why you're on Earth in Mass Effect 3, just get the DLC.
