this is a different topic than the other one because I'm asking about specializations.  And yes, I made the same topic on the other site.

Some european dude on the bioware social site said healers are a must-have. I do not want some old *** lady named Wynee to be in my group. Ever. My questions are-

1. People said Morrigan doesn't start out as a spirit healer. Since you get a specialization point at level 7 and level 14, will she be able to spec into being a spirit healer?

2. Would I have to recruit her in my party before she is level 14, before the game automatically chooses her two specializations for her?

3. What if I recruit Morrigan before level 7. Will I be able to choose whatever specialization I want for her at level 7, and then another specialization for her at level 14?

All I want is to make Morrigan a spirit healer.  I know she has healing spells when you first get her, but I want to make her spec into being a spirit healer.

You can always use Raven or Rings of Respec if u want
Anyway like Ali they start with theyr spec already on even b4 7

I have made a post about this earlier.  We need to be able to control the
way the chars which we pick up, level up. And im not talking about the
basic leveling, im talking about their skillpointallocation they have upon
picking them up for the first time.

If i wait for lvl15 before picking up someone i can pick up at level 6,
we should be able to have full control over their skillpoints.

It has been said in the other thread and should be said here: You probably won't need a healer at all. The Wardens Quest-Event was all about speed. If you are able to take your time to gain xp, advance in levels and most importantly properly learn herbalism and alchemy to make plenty of potions, things won't look so grim.

BioWare wouldn't include only 2 possible healers, who are both easily alienated (for they are moral extremes) if they where crucial for beating the game

you don't strictly speaking need much of anything to beat this game. but if you're looking to have a smooth go of it even on nightmare difficutly having healers in your party is VERY USEFUL. but hey, feel free to just chug potions if it works for you.

the moral and personality conflict of Wynne and Morrigan ends up not mattering even a little bit. they'll bicker in various entertaining ways but the worst thing that ever happens is you lose a couple of favor points. you can actually prevent Morrigan from disapproving of your "niceness" if you give her the Golden Mirror gift (you can buy one in Orzamar common district). this will "soften" her and she won't object so much to your good deeds after that.

i completed the entire game with Wynne and Morrigan in my group the whole time. never caused any problems at all. ended the game with both of them at 100 favor. and yes, i did give Morrigan the Spirit Healer specialization when she got her 2nd spec point at level 14. having access to 2 group heals is incredibly strong.

Yes you can, but Wynn is set to be a healer so it's better to use her and who cares if shes old. She is so epic and she likes ale!

I diasgree.  As far as the RPG part goes, NPCs have a personality of their own.  The role playing suffers, massively, if they're blank slates waiting to be used as a tool by the PC.

The gameplay should be balanced against the RPG aspect.  But you already have options--if some NPC is critical to your strategy, pick them up early.  Really, the lowest level you're finding something is 6-7, and the longest you'd probably need to wait to get any one character (accept the "surprise" ones) is maybe 10.

If that's not enough, there are tools that let you re-allocate all points, you can download one.  But IMHO the game should be balanced for the NPC as designed, not "generic mage" or "generic rogue".

You have 2 choices to get the Spirit Healer spec.

1.  Pick up Wynne, get her rep high enough for her to "unlock" Spirit Healer spec so Morrigan can put a point into it.
2.  Spend 15 gold in the store in Denerim (the magic one) and buy the book

You CAN give Morrigan the healing spells, but unless you do one of the above 2 you cannot make her a Spirit Healer.

Also, she starts with quite a few spells across Primal and Hexes, so when you get her, you'll need to put points in Magic and all points towards healing once you get Morrigan so she'll be ready.

Hope this helps.

You could also get the respec mod and respec Morrigan to healer as soon as you get her ... thats what I did.

She's running as an SH/AW on my team atm :P

The respec mod is great for those looking to mess around in third and fourth playthroughs, but those who are specifically looking for challenge should beat Nightmare without it.

It's an option ... if they want to use it of course.

An option that unequivocally makes the game easier.

Please don't take this as a personal or playstyle attack--I think it's a wonderful mod, and I was going to use it on my third (current) playthrough until I decided to try a Nightmare game with one Mage to test the difficulty difference.

However, it sucks quite a bit of the game's challenge (using unoptimized NPCs) away, and should not be considered for any playthrough where your goal is challenge or bragging rights.

Well, I think it's OK if you just use it to change specs that you could have in the normal course of the game to save you from having to start over. I agree that it's cheesy to entirely respec companions or even yourself (i.e., changing your starting talents to make a character that could not be made in a new game normally)

My biggest concern with speccing Morrigan to spirit healer is an RP one. She starts out with mostly spells in the entropy line, and devotion to healing others seems to be completely opposite of what she is about.

She even says she's not a healer. But on the other hand, her mother seems to be quite good at it so it does make some sense if she learns the art too...

When I told her to get into my tent, it was to teach her healing magic. She didn't see it coming.

"I'd take a roll with ya..."

"I suppose I should be flattered"

"I don't know if I have the equipment for that, but I'll give it a try!"

Epic.

Yes you can make morrigan a spirit healer. On my DW warrior, I had her full spec'd into blizzard and thunder and the spirit healing tree with the basic heal spell. She did fine for healing and damage.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. I chose Spirt Healer for Morrigan at Level 14 and can choose any of the four spells.

lol of course you can make morry as an healer, just have to await lv14 :P

anyway you just need heal up to 3 (heal and regeneration) to have a decent healer (wyn by default doesnt even use her group heal :P)

then go in the tactical window and give her an healer profile (or build your own) and ta dannn here that you have a morry healer at level 9-10

You can select spirit healer for morrigan at 14 or 15 if you have it unlocked.

And unlocking only requires buying a book ...

Be sure to fully develop herbalism on one of your chars, make loads of healing thingies - all sizes so you can chain them if needed - and you won't need a "dedicated" healer.

It's quite doable and makes the game somewhat more interesting seing as you kinda leave 1 group spot open for whatever character you want.

Personally i find the Dog a good candidate.

If you do not like the way Wynne looks here is a mod to change her face.

dont agree that much... Morry imo have a veeery good spell allocation, she also get a bonus to magic (generally better than will), her only huge drawback is the shapeshifter specialization that is crap... but other stats are pretty good
