I shouldn't have done a sarcastic run first I think.
I had lots of fun with the sarcastic dialog and Hawke always chipping in with a snide remark or two.

Goody-goody Hawke or "Look at me I'm tough. Rawr." Hawke are rather dull by comparison.
Not that the dialog is *bad* exactly, but sarcasm is so much better, at least for me.
Anyone else agree?

Sarcastic, witty Hawke is just too good.
While compare to sarcastic Hawke, Direct/mean Hawke is not 'mean' enough, it should be at Renegade Shep's level. Good/helpful Hawke is just...well, just a good/kind person.

Nothing wrong with other two Hawke but 'they' got overshadowed for sure.

P.S. Many golden lines in game are from Witty Hawke.

I agree totally.
I'm on a goody-goody playthrough to see what the Isabela rivalmance is like, and it's so, um the opposite of fun (am pumped full of flu-meds so brain not working bah).
Snarky-Hawke is genius, especially when she's the only one who thinks she's funny.

Gonna have to stick to the good-old middle option from now on;)

Edit to add  ,tried mean-Hawke but, like ME2 is just too mean. Although on this run felt it fit to go all red-response to 'Bela and Merrill after they betrayed me in the fade - considering had just lost Bethany to Bertrand's betayal felt totally right at the time.(ok I admit i felt horrible for shouting at Merrill )

While the dialogue is better, this game is pretty much the first, that gives me characters I just can't be mean towards. In all previous bioware games, I had no problems doing at least one twirly-mustache-pure evil run, but in this game, I simply can't :|

I cant bring myself to play the sarcastic Hawke, I played Noble hawke first so that seems the best, the sarcastic one just feels terribly out of place most of the time, though sometimes it works I just wish I could see what he is going to say before selecting something

I don't know, it always gives me a laugh when my direct/agressive Hawke hands over the items I randomly find to the person it belongs to and says ~ here's your garbage.

And then they tank him vigorously for it

Its the opposite for me. I can't stand the sarcastic Hawke, he just comes off as such a douche. Maybe femhawke will be more bearable choosing purple options, haven't tried it yet though.

Yeah, he is the best. Sheppard will feel empty after having a go with sarcastic hero.

I had my best tabletop D&D games playing as sarcastic and chauvinist hero. He really stole the show, especialy when he was acting like a jerk at the women and cracking jokes at every sittulation. Thou, it was pretty bad for his health, making loads of enemies for my party and getting slapped and even kicked to the face by women he insulted.

Ahhh... Good times...
After playing that campaign to the end, I always wanted to RP hero like that in video games. This was the first game that REALLY gave me the chance to do so. Been playing the "good guy" in most RPGs. Now it will feel bland and boring.

Nah, I like Aggressive!Hawke as well, and it naturally leads to rivalmances (although I'm discovering that attempting that with Isabela is a **** - there are not nearly enough rivalry opportunities with her).

I will agree that the snarky options pretty much stole the show, though. The others aren't the font of memes that they (and Renegade Shepard, for that matter) are.

It is better, even the lines are the same, female VA is perfect for witty Hawke.

I agree. Sarcastic is funny, Good is almost like Stupid Good, while violent sometimes feels almost Chaotic Stupid.

Speaking of Lady Hawke here. Who is her VA BTW?

Snarky FemHawke is pretty much pure unadulterated win. First time in a BioWare (or Obsidian/Black Isle, for that matter) RPG I've ever played the first time through with a female PC.

I'm going to have to go run the game playing an evil/sarcastic/doesn't-give-a-damn female Hawke just to disassociate myself from what I would normally do.

I don't know about anyw one else, but the more I play this game, the more i'm coming to appreciate the depth of character that's possible with the personality types.

Unlike the Mass Effect system which shoe-horns you into the paragon/renegade route, I've found that in DA2 it's easily possible to craft yourself an great character who's both irreverent and honorable/noble at the same time. Or even rude yet noble etc since your actions define your moraily rather than your responses most of the time.

I am a sarcastic person so no matter how hard I try otherwise, I will keep picking those responses. A lot of the time they seem to match up with what I would say anyway.
I was trying to do one as a good Hawke but no, sarcastic just keeps coming in.

My 2H warrior always picks the purple response. Always. Even when I know it's just not the time for a joke (as the Viscount cradles his dead son, for instance). Even when Hawke knows it's just not the time for the joke. It's like he's leaking smart-arse—he can't help it now!

Sarcastic does not work for every character I play. I had my angry mage that mellowed into sarcastic, my noble warrior was a peace maker who showed occasional wit, and now my sweet rogue who goes all "Rawrrr" when it comes to blood mages. I can imagine that using only one approach could get tiresome, but I just don't play that way.
