Isabella remebers the past yet is not bound to it. Anders, Fenris, Sebastian, and Merril are all trapped by something that belongs in the past. Even though she is promiscious she retains her mystic that veil that hides the story within. skin deep she is a thief and a ****. Deeper she is while not always giving she is compationate and she refuses to give her heart to just anyone. the snack metiphore I think discribes this perfectly.

while I prefer in most conversations strait answers in people if the answers come strait they are probably wrong, or worse boring.

skin color usaly doesn't bother me. cultural differences can however and many think that they should base their culture on thier skin color which can make me initaly wary of people based on thier skin tone but then I decide how I feel about them once they start talking.

is that racism probably but not the bad kind.

My Hawke saw another strong person who occasionally chose survival over other considerations. I respect Isabela's arc (if you let it happen) because she starts to respect herself more, and realize that she isn't as dangerous as people claim. She eventually lets herself be human rather than the caricature people hit on at the bar.

Some of the best banter in the game comes if you do a lot of act 1 with Bethany and Isabella in your party. Bethany is the innocent virgin (so she says in the banter) and Isabella the "I'll take anyone when I'm horny" rover. The exchanges are hillarious. Anyone doing fanfic on either Bethany or Issy needs to play throug ACT 1 with these two together.

I love the Bethany/Isabela dialogue I actually did a little bit of fanfic inspired by some of the Bethany/Isabela banter...a first for me. Then my laptop, that had the only copy, died.

Isabela is a pirate Captain... come on... she speaks "arrrrrrhh" doesn't carry a warehouse of bagage around, and quite frankly is her attitude is quite refreshing.

She can be a bit chaotic at times, valuing freedom above all other neeeds even when a little order/restrictions are needed, but hey with that figure and wild dangerous sex my Hawke can live with it (besides being a FM/SH the rash is not a problem...)

My hubby loved the Isabela romance arc. He said it had a sweet ending and that she was always fun to be around. Made a deal with hubby, he gives ME a try and I'll romance Isabela with the next Hawke. I have always had Izzy as my F!Hawkes best friend but haven't feelt any romantic interest but I'll give it a try. Hubby has never tried ME and I really want to be able to talk about ME and ME2 so this sounds like a good deal =)

I decided to go after Isabella first. The first thing I like about her is that she's tough and knows how to take care of herself. As was mentioned earlier, she does have a softer side to her. You see it come out sometimes in the conversations with Merrill and the private moment between her and Hawke. Some people (though I'm not one of them) just want her to look more like she did in DAO for continuity's sake (same reason some people mod backwards-- making her DAO appearance match that of her DA2). Only mod I've indulged in is to put pants on her because I'm not fond of her outfit as it stands. I'd prefer her to dress more like a  sea captian with great billowing sleeves and a vest and such. Something that would command the kind of respect her men showed her in DAO on sight.

That is what put me off her romance too.  I don't want my Hawke asking/begging her what to have sex with someone else.  It just doesn't feel like a true love interest (for me).  She's fun and I love her character but always as a friend.

Isabella is fun, Smart, Beautyfull (of an animated charakter... ) I love her jokes and her voice is perfectly casted both in DAO and DA2.... Whats not to like about this charakter??

Isabela had the second darkest skin color possible in DA:O. If she was white, she was a Mediterranean person with a tan. The fair skinned Isabela mods turn her the same color as my mother, a red-headed Scott who flees from sunlight because she burns so easily.

I would imagine that would make the long sea voyages spent on deck rather uncomfortable. Provided that Thedas didn't boast Coppertone.

The only mods I use for Isabella is her lower lip piercing removal and an alternate "romance" outfit. (i liked the defualt one too but just wanted to change it up)The piercing only bothered me I think because of the color... gold just don't look right for her to be honest... I think sliver or a jewel maybe just not solid gold... (tho it looks like brass or copper in game)

So far I have picked her only as my romance in DA2. At first I really couldn't tell you exactly what it was, but I think after reading I agree with most everyone above. Self confident can handler herself, not trying to be male, just a strong female. She just happens to like sex, and later on when she confesses she becomes faithful. (You can deny her Zev and she will say ok just you have to be with her instead)

Lip peircings are HOT!!! I know I agree with my girlfriend that they're not but when she's not around (and she isn't on this forum) Lip peircings er one of the reasons why I love romancing Isabella!!

Personally I think she's about Duncan's color now and since his family was also from Rivain, it works. Plus, you know, unrelenting sun on a pirate ship tends to make one a nice toasty color even if one's dark to begin with.

The sex scenes you mean? Eh. I wish they were better-- clothed grinding is kind of strange. I'd take the unintentionally hilarious underwear ones from the first game over that because many a laugh was had from them.

Far as her wardrobe though-- uh uh. Issy's too naked as it is. Her thong, while cute, is hardly protective. I've gotten her some really nice mods that give her a supportive corset, pants, etc. She looks a bit more like a pirate and less like a dock wench. I'm hoping someone comes across with a greatcoat-and-fluffy shirt mod eventually (perhaps a combination mesh from an existing coat and isabela's regular outfit) because I'd love it. Pirate queen to the hilt. Besides, Isabela deserves all that lovely gold edging so she shimmers from head to toe.

My mageHawke saw Isabela as someone who need it help, shallow, no opinions and someone who loved lust, quick adventures BUT and most important the value of life and freedom.
My magehawke been in a run all her life never saw/knew someone like her and Thought that pirates well all men, how?, why? and many others questions were always in her mind about isabela.

When she started the romance was just to see how far isabela will go, and was shocked by the fact that everything she had shown all her life was a facade, she was hiding who she was for fear of hurting herself or someone also by her actions, that was a thrill and an adventure within adventures, My Magehawke never judged isabela or anyone, everyone is different, but she couldn't let go Isabela.
she( Isabela) as a woman was all my Magehawke ever wanted to experience herself.

They are both traveling in a boat to unknow places, keeping far away from The felisisima armada ports.

But Isabela WAS the second darkest skin tone. Her designer confirmed it on these boards after there was an outcry that they suddenly "made her black" in DA2. The lighting in the brothel in DAO made me think she was lighter skinned too, but I'm happy to know that she's actually dark-skinned. Just because we don't often see the primary female love interest in video games be dark skinned.

I don't want to say Isabela's skin color made me love her more, but it's just nice to see non-white characters portrayed as sexy and independent. I also like that she was strong and sexual. Of course, you get a lot of crap from some gamers essentially being sexist about her "sleeping around" when they'd never say that about a guy....

Anyway, I suppose it's fine if people mod the game and the characters how they personally like. But the "Make Isabela White" mods ****** me off on a broader level, with the insinuation that making her white will somehow make her more attractive.

I can understand that, but I'm going to play devil's advocate here and just say that some people aren't attracted to those of other races. It's like that for my current girlfriend. I have a preference for the dark skinned girls, and my current girlfriend is black. It's by no means a requirement for me to date a woman that she be black, but I do consider it a plus in her favor. I just think their features are physically appealing. Now my girlfriend only dates white men because that's what she's attracted to.

I can understand why it would tick you off that people mod Isabella to be white. Personally, I backwards mod her to make DAO version look like DA2 version, but that's mostly because I feel her current incarnation has more character and makes her stand out more.
