She was enjoyable at first, a little flirty and fun. At the point where she says she actually starts to care about you she just becomes a complete emotional cripple, and not in a cute and endearing way. All she did was yell at me for caring about her, unless I wanted just a kiss; then she acted as if I was a romantic god.
I was honestly sick of her at the end of the playthrough, and it didn't feel anywhere close to a romance. Maybe I should have slept with her; maybe some depth would have emerged. Leliana at least feels rewarding and believable as a romance.
Morrigan's just not worth it; her relationship is 10 times more emotional if you keep it at a friendship level. I actually think it's more believable for Morrigan to want to have a meaningful sexual relationship with my female PC's than I did with my guy.

I absolutely hated this "romance". I actually played a dude all the way to the end just to get Morrigan a baby by my own hands, and by the time she offered it, I had absolutely NO desire to sleep with her.

After reading your post, It does make a bit of sense to me now, but at first you're just her "Target" so to speak.
Sleeping with her the first time it is available, which I will admit is a bit too early, doesn't change much, but it's after her approval is over 90 when things get at least remotely interesting. As we all probably know, after our "first time" with said partner it is up to you to decide when the deed is done next, ask Morrigan this with 90+ and she says no. Ask her again she gets angry. Confront her about it and she explains why. The results of this show quite an interesting part of her character. Whether or not it is the truth is unknown.

Morrigan is a complicated lady.
As much as I wanted to kill her and possibly have a sex scene with her corpse, I do think the romance was good... and a total gut-wrench at the end. -le sighs-

Hah, Well this is going to get some interesting responses. I know exactly what you mean by your post though funnily enough. For guys who romance her, you feel let down. Hurt maybe? Well I personally did. I honestly had no idea that was what she was planning. I sorta got some ideas after all her warnings though. But still...
I didn't feel let down. I pretty much expected her behavior. She's not my pet, after all. That much should be obvious from the minute you first start talking to her.

I didn't find it interesting. I found it completely contradictory. At that point she should refuse to kiss you as well, and she shouldn't greet you with her sultry "Your desire..." line. It completely doesn't mesh, and I honestly didn't believe her explanation as to why she wouldn't sleep with me anymore. It felt so awkward and disjointed. All she did was tell me to break up with her, call me selfish when I said I didn't want to lose her, and then at the end she expects me to give her a baby and let her walk away for me never to see her again?
I honestly don't believe she cared for my character at all. It didn't seem deep, emotional, or complex. It felt like a total, frustrating lie. The friendship path was much, much more enjoyable and fluid.

I think love just isn't what she's after. She's only human and can get romantically attached, and she deals with it maturely as long as you don't break up with her. In which case, she deals with it more poorly than Leliana, judging from influence loss. She is more aggressive, but she's a dear in her own way.

I agree with you on the "Your desire..." opener. After a heart-to-stoneheart conversation it's not exactly the most appropriate conversation starter.
But maybe 'tis time I make myself a female character and befriend Morrigan instead. As a guy I just end up romancing her. Shameful yes, but I am only male. Plus I want to see how either Alistair or Zev acts when speaking to a lass. I'm guessing Zev is the pretty much his cunning, suave self but Alistair I'm unsure of. He seems...timid. Guess I'll find out in due time.

I kind of agree, to be honest. Actually, the romance seemed to be a friendship with benefits.

Hmm, I'm confused. When did she deal with this maturely? Even when I didn't break up with her she was a total nutcase. She completely shut down, practically screamed "NO!!" when the subject was breached, then when I asked her about why she was like that she got even more crippled, pleading for me to break with her. When you refuse to break up with her, she screams at you again.
Then when you come back to talk to her again she's all sultry and come hither. It's obvious she wasn't expecting love, and she has no idea what to do with it, but her way of handling it all was not endearing at all. It jsut made me dislike her, and when she asked for a baby I just wanted to laugh in her face. When she then propositioned me to convince Alistair I was even more thoroughly disgusted. I don't know, I just expected this to be emotional from other people's reactions to it, and I found nothing like that.

Aspects of the game's promotion try to make you think this game is dark. The scene with Jory and Duncan might make it seem that you face some hart decisions. But ultimately, the game is not dark and it does not face you with any serious moral dilemmas. There is a true ideal solution to most situations, except Dwarf stuff, and that's not going to matter to most players. You can save the mother, father, and child, end the curse, avoid hurting any innocents, resulting in peace throughout the land, you don't even have to sacrifice your life at the end of it all,... but then when you try to get the girl, this girl, you get a kick in the nuts. You can even melt her ice cold heart and make a friendship or love that is cherished by both. But, still. WHAM. Right in the cherrypicker.
Some serious mixed message nonsense there.

It's interesting to see how players react to a video game character, and I don't mean that in a condescending way. Morrigan certainly provokes some apparently genuine emotional responses.
I definitely agree. Which is why I enjoy these sorts of threads so much. Films provoke emotions strongly. Books do it too. Heh, Music probably does it aswell. It's about time games do it. I know there have been more and more story/emotion orientated games being released but they are definitely starting to raise the bar. Makes me proud to be a gamer.

Do people just love picking random insulting adjectives to throw around? There was nothing whiney about Morrigan. ****y you can claim, but whiney is just daft.Damotta wrote...
whiney, ****y attitude.
Morrigan is essentially a very rational character, with an anti-social lean. She's about as whiney as evil Spock. And as sexy, too.
