...she also tries too hard by talking really low and soft, especially in situations where no way in hell you would be like that. I saw the Mass Effect 2 interactive comic for the PS3 version and I think that was some great voice acting. I hope both voice actors step up and actually do the voice acting right for all the situations in Mass Effect 3.
Jennifer Hale is a better voice actor, but...

Yeah, it is often criticized of Jennifer Hale that it seems like she says her lines as if she was forced to do so.

Is there a link that I can read that? Just for the curiosity. She did a awesome job in Metal Gear Solid 4 but here and there she does the same thing.

Lol yea I been knowing that.
She's Naomi Hunter. Not sure if she was originally in the other Metal Gear Solid as the same character.

Both voice actors are great. They both has positive and negative aspects of their talent. However, BioWare hires the best VOs, they have amazing talent. I would like to see one of us voicer over a character.

Meer is the better performer IMHO; I like Hale too, but some of her lines are just weird. It happens way less with Meer.
Personal preference I guess.

Mark Meer is a very good voice actor, but for some reason doesn't really give his all with Shepard. I don't know whether that's Bioware telling him to do so or him just getting tired after so many lines, but hopefully in ME3 he'll step it up and hopefully have voice acting of Hawke quality.

The we're gonna need bigger guns line with fshep sounds alittle forced but I can usually excuse that line by saying she might be scared and hiding it. There are others where she sounds too low for the situation but I can live with it for all of ME and ME2 Msheps voice was pretty emotionless with no fire for most of the lines he's getting better for SB I have yet to hear him for Arrival but I could actually tell he was joking with Liara in SB and in the cabin I did feel emotion from him so. If it keeps up I might actually like Mshep and Fshep evenly for once!

I prefer Meer. Hale often sounds like she's trying way too hard to be a big tough space marine. Meer can be blunt or threatening without sounding like the antichrist, and he also does humor better. Jennifer Hale sounds terrible during the car chase in Illium, where as Meer just sounds like he's having a great time.

at least she doesn't sound monotonous like every single line of mark meer. It's disappointing. He has only ONE good line in the game, and that's the renegade option for the tali and legion argument. Other than that, Jennifer Hale sounds much less monotonous in just about every single line in the game. It's a shame, really.

The problem with her voice is that she talks slowly, and too softly.

Hmmm... Hale's lines have always sounded fine to me. I think she has a bit more experience than Meer. Meer's lines sound a bit rushed sometimes. I don't know if the audio team speeds up his voice after he's recorded the lines to shorten scenes or if he actually reads that fast.. But sometimes it really throws the mood off for me. Also I do agree with the criticism that he sounds a bit monotonous at times. Still, he has a great voice and I can't imagine anyone else voicing ManSpep. No one's perfect.
Isn't that the definition of a typical woman's voice? What is she supposed to sound like? Female Hulk?PetrySilva wrote...

Hale doesn't get every line perfectly, and there's a few where Meer does a better job, but overall I prefer her a lot over Meer.

I just wish that you could give Shepard different voices. I'd love for Lori Allen (The Boss) to voice my FemShep. Still, Hale does a good job.

Women, like men, have many different types of voices. There is no "typical woman's voice."

Hale speaks much more naturally, less acting-ish. Meer sounds like he's trying to act, and doing poorly.
But no need to get into this age-old argument again. We've been having these threads since ME1.

I need dont see how ANYONE can think Hale does a better job than Meer. Hale's voice is so ridiculously monotone that it drives me crazy. Her intimidation dialogue in the Legion-Tali fight is a perfect example of monotone.

My personal taste? I prefer Meer. When you actually pay attention to his performance, there's a LOT of subtle inflections in there. Hale is really good, but I honestly think she oversells the performance, sometimes.
They do both rock, though. ^^

HERESY! Meer just does some lines with such style. "I'll relinquish one bullet, where do you want it?" Stuff like that.

If Meer was a tad more wooden in his voice acting you could use him as a picket fence. Hale blows Meer out of the water.
