I have been looking forward to this title immensely due to the serious dearth in RPG's on PS3, and my preorder for the game came in yesterday.
There is no question about it, the frame rate issue is really quite serious. I know it's been talked about and I'm sure there are petitions and established threads, but to be honest I don't have time to look around, all I want to know is whether it has been confirmed that a patch will be released or at least is being worked on to solve the issue. Because when a console game is running at sub-20 fps for a large portion of the game, and low 20's at the best of times, even during cut scenes, then I simply cannot be immersed in this title and will have to take it back. The human eye requires 24 fps to see a moving image. That means, therefore, that for most of the game I am in fact perceiving a slide show.
I do not WANT to take it back because I recognise it is the wonderful game I was hoping for, but this issue is really that bad.
So, patch in the works? Or do I have to wave a sad farewell to a potentially great game.
Regards,
Ben.

I have the exact same problem. I was looking really forward to this game and I have finally bought it. Unfortunately the framerate is such a huge problem in my eyes. It feels unplayable at some spots and I haven't had any framerate over 30 yet (played 6 hours). I won't continue playing this game, which really annoys me! I'm sure I would LOVE this game but i just can't play with this framerate.
I really hope it can be fixed, cause I'm sure i would play the **** out of this game if I could.

I have no idea why this is an issue for some and not for others, but I've played over a hundred hours on PS3 now and do not have the framerate problems.
I've heard that going into options and turning off the server options will fix the problem for some. Maybe the fps issues are somehow related to wifi/internet connection lag?

I'm not having any framerate issues, either, and I'm using an older PS3, an 80 gig model with backwards compatability.
I mean, it's not perfect but it also isn't bad enough for me to complain about it.

Some people cannot discern the difference between 24fps and 30+
I can, but my eyes adjust after long enough.
However, there are times when I can slow the game on ps3 to a crawl with the right spells/enemies.
No game should dip below 30fps ever. Graphics aren't worth it.

dunno about framerate, I must be one of those who haven't learnt to tell the difference between 24 and 30fps, but just started to notice slight pauses sometimes when I go to cast spells and theres a bunch of enemies on screen
