Hey all
I'd like to tweak a bow or two by adding an additional runeslot. I've looked around (on these forums and on Dragon Age nexus, as well as Google searches) and found a few bits of changing the properties of items, but nothing that clearly indicates actually adding things (i.e. runeslots), just changing existing abilities.
So, I'm looking to add 1 runeslot to the Absolution bow (for 2 total) as I'd like to throw on a Rune of Striking and Sandal's Special Rune to see how that plays (I've already finished the game twice playing "honest" and now want to cheat my buttocks off lol).
I felt kinda bummed that only Sebastian could get a 2-runeslot bow, so would like to make one for myself (or at least tweak an existing bow).

My Bassrath-Kata Longbow has 2 rune slots...and I have 4 other bows in the queue that will be released in my next item pack.

Having trouble finding that on your projects page... probably just blind today.

I just figured out how to do this the hard way last night so I'm putting this here for noobs like me.
To add a rune slot to any item:
1. Equip the item in game then save & exit.
2. Download the pyGFF editor. http://social.biowar...ect/1936/#files
3. In the GFF editor folder, open "editor.exe"
4. File>Open> then navigate to My documents>bioware>DA2>Characters>[character name]>saves> and load the savegame you created in step 1.
5.You'll only see one line listed. Open the tree and navigte to "SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR" > "SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR">"SAVEGAME_EQUIPMENT_ITEMS".
6. In this tree, you'll see a list of everyhting your character has equipped. The names are a little funky, but you can usually still tell what's what (anything with "boo" in the middle indicates boots, "glv" are gloves, etc). Open the tree of the item you want to add a runeslot to.
At this point, there are two different ways to go depending on whether or not the item already has a runeslot.
If the item already has atleast one runeslot:
1. Open the ITEM_PROPERTIES tree and look for the code 8000 on the right (8000 adds the runeslot property to an item). Note what line item number it has been assigned on the left. For the sake of this tutorial, we'll say it's assigned to line item number 2.
2. Open the ITEM_PROPERTY_POWERS tree and select line number 2.
3. In the lower left corner of the editor, check "treat as floating point" and the long number will change into something normal. This is the number of runeslots on the item. Change it to the number of runeslots you want in a whole number with 2 decimal places (1.0, 2.0, etc) I don't know if there is a limit. Click the Save button in the lower left corner to apply the change.
4. Save your edited savegame. (Go to file>Save As>).
If the item doesn't already have a runeslot:
1. Select ITEM_PROPERTIES and open its tree. Click the "Add" button in the lower left corner. It will add a new line item number on the left that has a 0 on the right.
2. Select the new line item you just created. In the lower left corner, change the 0 to 8000 (the code to add a runeslot). Click the save button in the lower left corner.
3. Select ITEM_PROPERTY_POWERS and open its tree. Click the "Add" button in the lower left corner. It will add a new line item number on the left that has a 0 on the right.
4. Select the new line item you just created. In the lower left corner, check "treat as floating point" and enter the number of runeslots you want the item to have-- enter it in whole numbers with 2 decimal places (1.0, 2.0, etc). Click the save button to apply the change.
5. Select ITEM_PROPERTY_EFFECT_ID and open its tree. Click the "Add" button to add a new line item.
6. Select the new line item you just created. It will have a 0 by default. You need to change it to the next highest number in the sequence you see in ITEM_PROPERTY_EFFECT_ID (the number will vary). For example, if it has 1456, 1457, and 1458 listed, you should enter 1459. If it only has 1345 listed, you should add 1346. The only exception: if it has a bunch of -1's, you should add -1. Click the save button.
7. Save your edited savegame (go to file>save as).

Following the steps above I have not been able to add a rune slot.
I am trying to add a rune slot to the Longsword Overland Render. Using the editor, I did the following:
a. added a 6th line to ITEM_PROPERTIES, changed that to 8000
b. added a 6th line to ITEM_PROPERTY_POWERS, changed that to 1.0, making sure the 'treat as floating point' is checked
c. added a 6th line to ITEM_PROPERTY_EFFECT_ID, changed that to -1
I saved the file and loaded up the game. In game, the sword did not show any changes, it has the same properties before I tried to edit it. Can anyone tell me what did I do wrong?

hmm, there's another category right under the item_property_effect_id, you'll have to do exactly the same thing you did to the line under it as you did on c).
