Merrill knows I hate that she's a blood mage and that I'm worried she'll believe anything a demon will tell her and blindly unleash hell in Kirkwall. But, dammit!, she's so stinking nice that you can't help but want to protect her from herself. There has to be a way to fix this BEFORE she comes to the house and sticks me with two choices. One of YOU knows how to get out of this. Please help me and my Hawke to avoid beiing an ass to her.

In other news, if you have to sleep with her to avoid being mean to her, WELL THAT'S JUST A RISK YOU'LL HAVE TO TAKE YOU MONSTER.

Stay away from the hearts and she shouldn't show up.

Also, don't listen to DoNotIngest, rival4life with Merril, imo.

Seriously. If I could play Kirkwall matchmaker, I'd put the bad poet and Merrill on a date. And video the hilarity.

The bad poet is Nathaniel Howe, so I want him to read my Hawke some bad poetry.Vhalkyrie wrote...

You hit a heart somewhere, it's not the writer's fault.KSuri wrote...
>.< This is truly a no win situation. Either step on her self esteem even more or sleep with her and have the uncomfortable "I love you dialogue come up". Who wrote this??? Was it a man? Haven't they ever used the "Man it's getting late, you should probably go." Or the, "We had better hurry along and save Kirkwall." dodge? **Shakes fist at BW**

Maybe it's cause Hawke's other sister found herself on the buisness end of an Ogre fist. Couldn't say.

Anyway, this is on a third playthrough and she never showed up before this. There wasn't any flirting the previous two times. So I think that if anyone's getting her show up a heart has been selected sometime.

Okay, I asked for it as my FemHawke was flirting with both Merrill and Isabela up until the Act 2 Hawke estate scenes. I never saw the 'You're like a sister to me' line. Instead it was 'You could muck about with demons and blood magic all you like if it didn't endanger Kirkwall' or sleep with her and then tell her it was just a fling. Maybe it was because my Hawke had kept hold of the item she wanted and refused to give it to her?

Yeah, I just checked the dialogue file. On the rivalry path, the let down is to tell her that you're worried her blood magic will endanger people. She's not happy about that, but it's not a, "No, I wouldn't sleep with you if you were the last woman in Thedas."

Anyway, going to give Hawke a re-do. I messed it up somewhere. Still think there should be a bail out option. Or the, "Oh, wow, look at the time!" *uncomfortable chuckle

*Yawn* Well thanks for coming over. I've got to get to bed. Demons and apostate mages to kill tomorrow. Err...whoops. Not you, heh heh.

It's really annoying, why can't I be nice, and just shut him down by saying something like Diplomatic: "Anders you're a great guy, I support your cause, I'll help you free the mages and we can be buddies, but I don't swing that way."
Instead you're forced to be a douchebag, or be homosexual...

Top dialog: Let's get it on! Woohoo!
Middle dialog: Sorry, but I have to wash my hair.
Bottom dialog: Not touching that. Nut uh.
I think any let down option depends on the character whether you get rivalry or not. Anders is a sensitive guy, so it makes sense he would be hurt by being turned down. Isabela or Zevran are more detached, so they wouldn't be bothered being turned down. Merrill would go psycho with bottom dialog.
