I have no trouble creating handsome male Hawkes, but I always have trouble with female ones. I think it's the cheeks/jaw/chin, it always ends up looking really off.

Any tips on how to make a cool looking ladyhawke? Cool is what I'm going for, not so much cute.

i've had some luck creating faces that i like after spending a little time browsing the "post a pic of your hawke" thread.

kinda' find something you like and keep the pic handy.

then, consult it as you muck around with the character creator.

try to recreate the features that you see there as best you can.

of course you can't trust your appearnce to the character creator. you've gotta' fire up the game and see how you look in cut scenes.

that's where it's at.

good luck finding something you like.

The Jaw/cheeks/chin area is definitely the hardest. For all my DA2 Fem!Hawkes, I've found myself setting cheek width all the way to the thinnest setting and putting all the other cheek options somewhere in the middle (cheekbone width, height, depth). I also increase chin width slightly, decrease chin height slightly, and decrease jaw width quite a lot (usually 2 or 3 clicks from the left).

If you're on a PC, I'd say get the revamped chargen mod and then use the editable default female Hawke face as a base. She doesn't have those poofy cheeks like all the default presets have and it's easy to make a good, cool looking fem!Hawke with her as a base.

Also, the fem presets in DA2 have a bit of an underbite, so correct for that by adding a LITTLE bit of overbite. It can affect how their mouths look when they're talking.

All of these are just personal preference, but I hope it helps.

EDIT: I almost forgot! If you don't have the Black Emporium DLC, get it. There's a mirror in the shop that let's you edit your Hawke's appearance. Not only is it great for correcting little weirdnesses that show up in game but you didn't see in the character creator, it also means you can change Hawke's appearance over the years. (I had mine cut off all her hair and get a tattoo when that really tragic thing *no spoilers* happened in Act II.)

I'm the exact opposite. I know how to make good looking women, but fall flat with the men. Though I haven't tried with DA2 (just stuck to the default), I think that trend would continue for me there. That's been the case across any CC in any game I've played.

For me, it's an intangible, so I really don't know how to help...

Thanks, I'll try that.

And I do have the Black Emporium. I've already changed my f!Hawke's hair/makeup/tattoos a ton of times but I'm still not pleased with the rest of her face.

I think the fact that none of the available skin complexions look that good makes it worse. The first one looks too basic, the second one looks incredibly greasy, and the other ones are just ugly/old looking.

I think an easy way to get good looking male Hawkes is to start with the custom face #1, set the skin complexion to #3 and just work from there. Adding beards messes everything up though.

Black hair usually seems to look better in this game.

I hear ya. I always use the first complexion. Not even sure why the others are in there-- they look terrible.

Getting the chin/mouth/nose distances and widths is the most important IMO. Hair, makeup and all that is just window dressing. Once you get a good structural foundation, you can change the other stuff around as much as you want and it will still look good.

Personally I think the default female Hawke looks great.
In fact female Hawke in general is awesome. Shes like a female Jack Sparrow.

I don't like the default f!Hawke much because she looks way too JRPG-y (not that I have anything against JRPGs, but she just looks out of place when compared to the other characters I think)

I cannot make a good Lady Hawke either, it is really killing me after many, many attempts. I use some sliders from the other forums but sometimes they don't turn out right. I'm so frustrated..lol.

My tip is, don't be afraid to put a bit of jaw on her. I wondered for awhile why my female morphs would always look funny, and I figured out that I'd not given them any jaw at all, maybe because I was so stuck on making them feminine. Giving them a respectable amount of jaw (though maybe not as much as Samara, haha) fixed the problem, for me anyway.

My most recent FemHawke has the jaw slider set around halfway.

Agreed. Sliding jar and chin width to the farthest left make face looks very weird unless you want something very anime.

Tweaking default hawke preset actually gives unique facial structure to Hawke. Since other NPCs faces are based on other presets we can originally choose from CC, I found using those presets for a female Hawke .. a bit annoyting. Like so many female NPCs seems similar to female Hawke.

My only tip is that .. don't go to any extreme, that said, don't slide anything to the farthest left or farthest right. That usually results in weird facial structure.

Default, preset #2-4 are best presets to start with, I think.

The default female Hawke looks pretty good....except you can't change her hair or eyes. :(

I love the Chargen mod lets me use the default Hawke as a base and give her an other hairstyle (really don't like the default hair style)

I dunno, I found all my Hawkettes rather easy to make. Sometimes I regret the hair decision and go back, and sometimes they look a million times better in game then the stupid character picture (wish one could zoom in on that or something, ugh).

I've got several femhawkes' they all look good to me. Just one of the hair styles looks odd due to a graphical glitch. Other than that It's just personal preferences.

What irks me is how much difference there is between in-game Hawke and Character Creator Hawke.
I had to go through tons of Hawke's, even with the Black Emporium, before finally getting a decent looking one, but it was only after I left the CC screen when I went "Huh. You know, she doesn't look half that bad."

Like someone previously mentioned, don't get too fixated on the jaw and chin. Yes, they're poofy by default, but minimizing them all the way has way more freakishly results.
