Just finished Arrival,
really quite disappointed in it.
Found there to be a lot
of entirely unnecessary moments including the entire first section in
the prison. Kenson could have quite easily contacted the Normandy
herself to lure Shepard into a trap. Things kicked up a gear in the
second stage, but was still overall disappointing. It was stated
before that this wasn't a 'bridging' dlc as previously thought, but
why not? Why grant the ability to play this mission after Horizon?
Why not restrict it to after the suicide mission and show the reapers
approaching Earth at the end?
Overall, for the price,
it is an enjoyable package. But I love Mass Effect 2 so much I was
expecting higher standards. Arrival deserved more thought and more
development. The environments and music were outstanding, to the
level I was expecting, but the animations and character design on
Kenson at least was poor, though Hackett looks awesome.
Overall though the
package feels empty and pointless, you've delayed the reapers arrival
but they're still coming and the only real change to the galaxy is
350,000 dead Batarians which was downplayed way too much...
Well those are my two
cents, Arrival gets a 5 out of 10 from me, very middle of the road
dlc for such an outstanding game and no way near on the emotional,
developmental or game play levels as Overlord, Lair of the Shadow
Broker or even Stolen memory. Arrival would have been far better if
it were developed as the true bridging content it was once thought to
be.
