I liked the part when DA2's story went way over his head and he called it bad.

Pretty hard for something to "go over someone's head" when it's glued to the ground. There's nothing complex about the story. Hell, the plot in How the Grinch stole Christmas is more complex than DA2's plot (more creative as well). Ask me any question about the game or its themes and I'll gladly explain to you. Most of the reviews (even the positive ones) agree. The story took a back seat to "hitting a button and making something awesome happen."

I'm sorry, but the story in DA2 was weak sauce. I know Gaider can do better as he did better in DAO. If he is going to keep choking though, I suggest he be replaced. Perhaps they should hire this Baaleos guy wanting his job. Based on DA2, I'll take him over Gaider any day of the week.

C'mon. David Gaider gave us the wonder that is Dragon Age: Origins, in addition to the novels. Don't lose faith in the man now.

Agreed, there's still a DA3. They could redeem themselves, and only Gaider and dare I say; Laidlaw, can do it.

And me?

I don't think that the weak story was Gaiders fault. More like they concentrated more on gameplay than story and companion interaction *sigh*

The characters he writes usually wind up being my favorite too so I poot on this petition. THERE.

As a homosexual playing Dragon Age 2, I've witnessed the worst

This is completely wrong, homosexuals do not approach people and force
them to kiss us, the person that wrote this game should be fired for
stereotyping homosexuals in such a disrespectful way, as well as
creating the worst writing in characters, plot and everything else in
DA2.

I'm sure most people here are perfectly familiar with Mr. Gaider's passionate love for the gay community and how absurd this petition is. It does, however, deliver a bit of delicious irony in light of Mr. Gaider's rant about "privilege" in that male gamer thread. It would appear that no matter what Mr. Gaider does, someone will be pissed off about it, including people he was desperately trying to pander to. I warmly recommend that Mr. Gaider and his team simply stop trying to cater to people based on their genitals and/or genital preference and simply stick to making the best Dragon Age he can. There is only so much much marketing you can apply to game design before the end product becomes completely soulless. Am I wrong here?

edit: I forgot how poor reading comprehension and general awareness of the surrounding world is on these forums so I figured I should mention I did not create or sign or support the above petition.

And the guy who created that thread (if you look at his account name) created that account the day he posted it. I suspect it is from the same homophobe who got tons of flack posting his vitriol about proselytizing his (putported) gay buddies into being straight by getting them to have children. So, he created a pseudo-gay account as to make it seem that gay people supports his warped views as well. In fact, it was within a day of creating that new account when the flack hit him on his OP from original account.

Have I ,in a jokingly sarcastic manner, been supporting a ******-Phobe? :o

And you are who, exactly?? Did I reply to you at sometime where my previous comment here pertained to you?

I was enquiring as to whether or not it has been established that the OP is the actual ******-phobe, or if he was making a genuine point as to whether the ******-sexual relationships/romances were conducted in a realistic way that the gay community dont mind.

I had been making joking supportive remarks towards the OP, but if he is the actual ******-phobe as your post suggests, then I think I might wana retract some of my jokes... I dont joke with ******-phobes.

This is a bit lame. If you don't like a game or the company, go to another. That's what a competitive market is for. If you still want to support BioWare, then support them. Give them critical feedback, suggest what improvements you'd like and move on. It's just a game.

Its, in my opinion, a Latin-ized version of Baal   (granted, its not meant to have the e in it, but I think it sounds better than Baalos, rolls of the tongue better)

Hm. It might work. The last name usually makes or breaks the name.

Opening Scene,
err.....
Cut to Forest Scene, its night time...
Hawke is running through the forest, being persued by unknown assailants.
His party are running behind, we hear the gallop of horses... (the persuers have horses)

<Romance target> falls, trips on a stone.... a Horseback rider gets ready to trample him/her.
A Projectile (magic bolt, arrow, or dagger), knocks the rider off the horse, and Hawke and the rest of the party return to the <RomanceTargets> side, and engage in combat together.

End of Tutorial Zone.

But in all seriousness.
If I were doing DA3,
I would seriously consider having a party consisting of

Dragon Age Origins characters & Dragon Age 2 characters.

But the two compulsory characters, are Hawke and the Warden.

Which gives rise to the possiblity of having

Hawke, Warden, Wardens Romance Target, and Hawks Romance Target as a party.

I would also consider having Morrigan's child being about 13 years old, and being the target for the Antagonist of the game. The job of the player being to protect the child, until he can assume his rightful place, as guardian of creation, and bring balance to the world.

The Narrator for the game would be Flemeth, telling the story looking back.

The only problem I had with Anders making a move on my male Hawke is that it seemed completely out of character from the Awakenings Anders and not in a way Justice's possession would cause. The Banter between Ohgren and Anders might have indicated Anders was bi but it was far from obvious. No one would have had a second thought of Zevran hitting on a male warden in fact I expected that in DAO. That was just Zev's character he was pretty flaming try anything don't care what people think type. Anders seemed more reserve and if he was gay would try to make sure someone was the same way before hitting on him. It is just out of character.

Bioware does not make all gay characters the same nor does it necessarily stereotype. Merill can go both ways and she is still a shy reserved girlish type. Zev was the flamboyant type like a guy I encountered in a sports bar while on a business trip. The guy stops while I am heading to the bathroom and says "I know you are not gay but if you were I would .. " after a quick thanks but no thanks it was over. To me this is about what the Anders encounter is.

The bisexuality or homosexuality is not really all that different in DA2 than it was in DAO instead of flamboyant obvious male and shy reserved female you have a representative of the two polar opposites for both sexes. Isabella and Anders are make move first ask questions later while Fenris and Merrill are more reserved. The problem that many have is not the fact these characters are gay but how much Anders changed in a way that is not really explained by Justice. Other radical changes you can attribute to Justice but not is I am boldly out there gay and I will hit on you to see if you are gay or not.

Lastly, unlike DAO, rivarly is not bad. You could lose Zevran if you unwittingly romanced him and had to end the relationship. That happened to me on the first playthrough. I was trying to be nice and started a relationship. Later I had to break it off after Lelianna was asking me about Zev and I had no idea I initiated a relationship. If Anders becomes a rival he will not leave. At full rival he gets a different ability than at full friend but he is just as much a part of your party. Zev would leave if the friendship level was too low.

I am really surprised about the public uproar about the romance options. Are people that uncertain in their sexuality? It's just a game and you don't need to take everything serious. Just grow up or something. All of you.

Well, what people dont actually realise,
is that Sandal is the Wardens son, after he time travelled back from the future.
The fact that the Warden didnt do the ritual is explained as being the creation of an alternate timeline, (this avoids the paradox problem).

Sandal would then, as you say, fill in the for the child.
The story would be that Morrigan time travelled back in time with her son, lost him in the deep roads, the child was found by Bodhain, bought in contact with the Warden, and this could, or could not impact the timeline in such a way, that the dark ritual never took place (player choice)

Nimpe... Dont take that tone with me sonny...
Im a potential possible candidate for Lead Designer, if Davey boy loses his job. Lol
Im just kidding. Lol

Look...
In all seriousness.

People are just having some teething problems with Dragon Age 2.
They wanted an epic adventure of grand proportions. They ended up with a Personal Story.

All of these things have been heard by Bioware, and they will probably try to adapt their strategy next time round.
Its a poor company that cannot adapt to what their customer wants and needs - im hoping they will write an epic DA3.

If they dont... I will.
