As a homosexual playing Dragon Age 2, I've witnessed the worst
stereotype homosexual characters in this game. If you refused to make
your moves on a gay character then you are received rivalry points for
not wanting to be gay for the character.

This is completely wrong, homosexuals do not approach people and force
them to kiss us, the person that wrote this game should be fired for
stereotyping homosexuals in such a disrespectful way, as well as
creating the worst writing in characters, plot and everything else in
DA2.

I'm sure most people here are perfectly familiar with Mr. Gaider's passionate love for the gay community and how absurd this petition is. It does, however, deliver a bit of delicious irony in light of Mr. Gaider's rant about "privilege" in that male gamer thread. It would appear that no matter what Mr. Gaider does, someone will be pissed off about it, including people he was desperately trying to pander to. I warmly recommend that Mr. Gaider and his team simply stop trying to cater to people based on their genitals and/or genital preference and simply stick to making the best Dragon Age he can. There is only so much much marketing you can apply to game design before the end product becomes completely soulless. Am I wrong here?

edit: I forgot how poor reading comprehension and general awareness of the surrounding world is on these forums so I figured I should mention I did not create or sign or support the above petition.

And the guy who created that thread (if you look at his account name) created that account the day he posted it. I suspect it is from the same homophobe who got tons of flack posting his vitriol about proselytizing his (putported) gay buddies into being straight by getting them to have children. So, he created a pseudo-gay account as to make it seem that gay people supports his warped views as well. In fact, it was within a day of creating that new account when the flack hit him on his OP from original account.

Have I ,in a jokingly sarcastic manner, been supporting a ******-Phobe? :o

And you are who, exactly?? Did I reply to you at sometime where my previous comment here pertained to you?

I was enquiring as to whether or not it has been established that the OP is the actual ******-phobe, or if he was making a genuine point as to whether the ******-sexual relationships/romances were conducted in a realistic way that the gay community dont mind.

I had been making joking supportive remarks towards the OP, but if he is the actual ******-phobe as your post suggests, then I think I might wana retract some of my jokes... I dont joke with ******-phobes.

I can only point the the thread I mentioned (without reference) where I stated it was from a newly created account, and here is the thread.

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/6776719

IF you want, then I can show you the person of whom I think created this account, and you can read his posts, he is rather bigoted to say the least.

I will take your word on it.
I tend to stay away from Bigots.

Bigots are Bigots regardless of how the world around them changes and adapts, and before they realise it, they are the only ones who have stayed the same, firm in their out dated methods and conceptions.

If they want to be like that, they can be like that, it will be them, who dont fit in, in the world, not the ones they are biggoted against.

<In official sounding voice>
We shall take your suggestion under advisement, and let the community know about whether or not David maintains his position as Lead Designer.
LMAO

Note - I am not affiliated with Bioware at all.... I just wish I was.

Writing a game, is not an easy task.
And I doubt David did it 100% on his own, and even if he had help, being dead designer is a large responsibility.

It cant be expected to get everything in the game 100% correct.

So, while yes, There are flaws to the story, and particular interest around the romance options.
It is 'ok' to say he did try his best, and had a tough time doing it.

It could have been 100x worse than it was.

Alright, wannabegaider, give us the plot of dragon age 3.

Import Save from Dragon Age 2
---------------------------------------------
Opening Scene,
err.....
Cut to Forest Scene, its night time...
Hawke is running through the forest, being persued by unknown assailants.
His party are running behind, we hear the gallop of horses... (the persuers have horses)

<Romance target> falls, trips on a stone.... a Horseback rider gets ready to trample him/her.
A Projectile (magic bolt, arrow, or dagger), knocks the rider off the horse, and Hawke and the rest of the party return to the <RomanceTargets> side, and engage in combat together.

End of Tutorial Zone.

But in all seriousness.
If I were doing DA3,
I would seriously consider having a party consisting of

Dragon Age Origins characters & Dragon Age 2 characters.

But the two compulsory characters, are Hawke and the Warden.

Which gives rise to the possiblity of having

Hawke, Warden, Wardens Romance Target, and Hawks Romance Target as a party.

I would also consider having Morrigan's child being about 13 years old, and being the target for the Antagonist of the game. The job of the player being to protect the child, until he can assume his rightful place, as guardian of creation, and bring balance to the world.

The Narrator for the game would be Flemeth, telling the story looking back.

I DON'T WANT MY OTHER PROTAGANIST WHO I'M NOT CONTROLLING TO DO STUFF OUT OF CHARACTER
AND I DON'T WANT MY WARDEN TO HAVE A VOICE I DIDN'T IMAGINE HIM IN!

ALSO MY WARDEN IS IN THE MIRROR AND MY HAWKE HAD TO KILL HIS LOVE INTEREST! YOU BETTER NOT
RETCON ANYTHING!

ALSO I DIDN'T DO THE DARK RITUAL SO WHO'S CHILD IS THIS AND WHY THE HELL AM I HELPING MORRIGAN?

Nimpe... Dont take that tone with me sonny...
Im a potential possible candidate for Lead Designer, if Davey boy loses his job. Lol
Im just kidding. Lol

Look...
In all seriousness.

People are just having some teething problems with Dragon Age 2.
They wanted an epic adventure of grand proportions. They ended up with a Personal Story.

All of these things have been heard by Bioware, and they will probably try to adapt their strategy next time round.
Its a poor company that cannot adapt to what their customer wants and needs - im hoping they will write an epic DA3.

If they dont... I will.

Then I say you bring back the Warden! Complete with Alistair Posted Image

The irony here is - he makes a petition to fire someone - and within the SAME title - asks Bioware not to cater to everyone under the sun. Either this dude lives somewhere above the sun - or, he doesn't understand irony at its best.

LOL

Trolling to the point of making a petition? Nice try, but it will fail

Gaider is an awesome writer, and I wish he would write a third Dragon Age book

Gaider is a good writer. I didn't mind that he was trying to cater to people of different sexual orientations. I will always stick to heterosexual relationships based on my character's gender, but this is a silly petition.

People have complained so long about the lack of bisexual options - well, here we are!

I'm not an alt. Unless I had one years ago, this is the only Bioware account I have and am using. Mods with access to IP addresses and the like can confirm it.

I'd say Laidaw needs to step down as lead designer. Bring back the other guy. Or maybe make John Eplar or Stanley Woo the lead designer. Gaider can stay provided he is willing to take a few writing classes at a community college. Also, they need to see EA as a bad deal all the way around, quit and become their own company again.

You mean they should bring back... Mike Laidlaw? He was also one of the leads in origins.

He wants them to "bring back" Brent Knowles. Who has stated many times in his blog that he has no interest in returning to games (in a major position capacity).

It is.

When this first came up, I thought that this petition was simply a way to lend more credibility to the opinion that the gay romances are inappropriate (reasonable people are more likely to be sympathetic to the aggrieved party than to the aggressor). Basically, create an uproar on both sides to try to influence how BioWare implements such things in the future (or to get them to drop inclusiveness altogether).

Luckily, if they fire David Gaider, it will only be because they don't need so much the writing in their games anymore, not from some ridiculous complaint with no basis in fact.

That supposedly reputable sources for news and information decide to perpetuate such rubbish is truly unfortunate.

Being constructive here,
I dont think its the lack or abundance of bi,or gay romance options that has a few people annoyed, its how they are perceived.

eg -
If I decide not to comply with Anders' Flirts, it seems to increase rivalry, can we not just be friends?

But this is more an argument against the romance system as a whole, not the aspect of gay/bi romances.

My complaint about the gay/bi romances would be that the personalities dont match what I would like in a gay romance.

I dont want Anders to be all feminine all the time, the love scenes while being romantic, appear animated with a female model in mind.

Fenris though, is a man's man, and I sometimes wish his personality could be imprinted onto Anders.

But realistically, a person is not going to be all smiles when they're rejected. I think the rivarly points afterwards makes total sense :P

Some people handle rejection better than others. Add to the fact that Ander's has the spirit of vengeance inside of him.... yea, i think it makes sense.

I admit, there might be 'rivalry' points, but I guess its just open to peoples interpretation.
If I get rejected, I get more embarassment points, than rivalry points.

I think when we drill down into the source of peoples conflicts here, its basically that some people didnt like the character personalities?

True. And they also showed this in DA2 with Isabella; she had no issues with me after I rejected her.

I understand. Personally, this could have been handled far better - Hawke should have been given the option to decline Anders' advances politely without any hit to the friendship/rivalry meter.
