You had some pretty wimpy bullies! :o

They compensated for their wimpiness with their numbers.  I'd get one to screw off and have to deal with three more. I had a class of like 400 people. Can't beat up half of them.

I was the big guy, beat the big guy and you become the big guy. At least so they thought.

Weeeell... I... was a bully. Technically.
But I am not really helpful, mainly due to the fact that I was in a small school (70 students). I myself never fought anyone, just had pleasure in crapping the hell out of people. It's a plus of my bigger stature. Why bullies do that? Well, I did what I did mainly because I was bored. I guess it's the same for everyone else. Add that to the general stupidity of youngsters and there you go.

So... because you were 'bored' you felt entitled to turn someone's life into hell? Wow man... congratulations on being an idiot.

I love when people try to fool others into thinking they "used to be" bullies in school, like trying to convince someone that things are better now. Well sherlock, try to locate one of the people YOU bullied and see if their lives are good now. They are probably mentally scarred people who can't get a nice job and are full of fears because some moron was "bored" in school. Bullied people will remember you FOREVER.<_<

Too bad we can't see anymore what I saw in my school once: There was this "big" guy who liked to bully kids, untill one day one of the smaller kids hit him with a brick from behind. Y'know, watching that monster tumbling down like a tree face first on the concrete was one of the biggest laughs I had in school.

I was bullied once (during a month). There was this big girl who liked to beat the other girls and I was the "choice of the month". Well, she bullied me indeed, untill one day she discovered I was carrying an iron pipe in my backpack. Yes, I was suspended, but I would gladly do it all over again.

Did your teachers and/or guidance counsilors ever help you? My youngest brother is dealing with a bullying problem and according to him, his teachers act like everything is fine even when people are being verbally bullied right in front of them. I grew up pretty short and this was an issue for me back in grade school, especially when my teachers kept assuring "everything will be fine...don't worry...you'll get through it". Maybe it's because I was in containment classes for most of my time. They'll put you in with ANYBODY in those settings.

No, they never helped me. I was bullied by a lot of students, and even TEACHERS, throughout most of my school years, from kindergarten to the eleventh grade. They used to call me all kinds of names, and do all kinds of crap to me, and make fun of my sister who's mentally impaired. But when I went to the teachers, counselors, even my own parents, they either never helped, or they made things worse.

When it comes to being bullied, I have a lot of experience, and none of it is good.

They did try, but the help was always so meaningless that it always happened again and again. After some years it stopped, mainly because most of the bulliers stayed behind while I advanced.

Man, there were so many comments on this from teachers and parents which stated “he should have just walked away.” Is that what they’d do if someone was repeatedly punching them in the face? I doubt it.

Considering the crap I've seen some people just take up the ass, I wouldn't be surprised if they would.

But I think the main reason is most bullies I've seen fall into two groups.

Either they are from a family that causes trouble or are rich, and thus feel they can get away with anything, and for the most part they can, its just when someone pops them one, then the teachers worry. As this Family can cause trouble for them or the wealth might result in troubles.  So Socially.

Then on the other hand they lack discipline of any sort, and the parents do as well. Often I've seen when such a kid gets whats coming the parents will screach at the school for letting there baby get hurt, he/she is a good kid and wouldn't hurt anyone. Or is just misunderstood and the other kid is as much at fault! My friend Mat was one of those, he did horrible things yet to his parents it was never his fault, it was always someone else that egged him to do it, which is a lie.

So normally they'll say that crap just to cover there own backside, though i've had some teachers that wouldn't do that.. Some would say your kid got what was coming, and didn't take kindly to threats. I remember one teacher in praticular told some gang kid that got in trouble that threaten to shoot him later to "You you go do that, I got a gun in my glove box and rifles at home, and I bet your ass I'm the better shot, so just try it punk." Alot of the older male teachers were that way actully.

What's really irritating is that they get away with it, too: where were those with the sympathetic ear when their victims asked for help?

Heh tell me about it, anyone remember that girl that was gang raped in a school ball field in clear view last summer? Think it was in some subsection of LA or Berkly... Something like 300 people went by and didn't do ****. But when the rapers most of whom were hispanic were charged it turned into a race riot almost.

I think somewhere in a number of humans they like seeing those who may have more, or they have some just general slight for, love seeing them hurt, but won't admit it. You brought back the gladiator games, and you'll see THOUSANDS of comments on it being evil etc. But I'ld bet the shirt on my back, it would be the number one watched show in the world.

We could summon the Bloodthirster! and gangers would have something better to do than cause trouble for the police.

So getting verbally harassed, stabbed with ****ing pencils, textbooks thrown in a damn ditch, teachers joining in on the abuse, parents abusing me, and feeling the need to carry a firearm to school because I'm too afraid of what will happen if I don't is just PART of school?

THAT'S IT? I'm just supposed to take it like it's a part of life?

DO YOU HONESTLY KNOW WHAT THE **** I'VE BEEN THROUGH?

It's HORRIBLE, and even though I graduated a year ago, I am still haunted by all those years. Hell, I'm a damn recluse now and I only socialize here on the Internet, because you can't see me. It's because I think everyone's out to get me or they are going to make fun of me, which has happened many times.

But what I'm trying to say here is this: DON'T EVER SAY THA T IT'S JUST A "PART" OF SCHOOL.

You have NO idea what I go through, EVERYDAY.

Well I won't go into much detail, she ended up trying to rape him...which is odd. And then threatend him with a counter claim that he tried to rape her. Nasty buisness. He just took to avoiding her, homeschools himself via the net.

Doesn't help that between that and his home life he's a bit schizophrenia, I'm used to dealing with him though.

Hmm. I was in a class of around 950. Perhaps the larger numbers were to my advantage? There were just too many types of people, I suppose. The more types you have, the more cliques you have, and the more conflicts you have, etc...I was never one for cliques, so I guess other people probably got it much worse than I ever did. *shrug*

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand your position. I may have been slightly out of line when I made that little quip earlier.

I never have been bullied. But I did stand up to someone who was. I think it was 10th grad when me and my friends was eating lunch when this kid called 50 walked to are table and sate down. Now 50 was the schools Esc kid real nice guy and very funny even if he was not all there. But these ****s thought it would be funny to throw their lunch at him and call him pretty hurtful names. You could tell he was pretty upset but would not stand up for himself and no one did anything at all. So I was already pissed off at the time then they pissed me off by doing that to the por kid along with none one else doing **** or saying thing. So I just got up walked over to their table with my lunch tray and slung my lunch over the two ****s and then followed threw with beating them both with the tray. Of course I'm the one who gets expelled -_-' still glad I did though.

I'm going to approach this from the standpoint that you're being sincere, because I believe you are.

I can't even imagine what you've been through. While each of us has his/her own stories, there's no point in detailing mine to try to help you with yours because that would just seem like I'm trying to marginalize your life. So I won't. I'll just stick to the results. Bullying definitely left me in a negative way. I share some of your traits because of it. I offer this suggestion only because it worked for me. I know it won't necessarily be the right thing for everyone, but it was a major confidence builder in my case.

*cue the laughter from the haters* Join a fraternity in college. Find the crazy, wild, outgoing, tear-it-up s*** house with some cool guys you can relate to (a good fraternity has every kind of individual) and think about it. You get forced into so many social situations and interactions that after a while you HAVE to become confident. People in college are different. Seriously! It broke me out of my shell and I'm definitely the better man for it.

Alternatately, get involved in an activity that is opposite what you are normally. Joining a fraternity was so outside my normal behavior pattern. That's why I did it. If that specific course of action is abhorrent to you, then pick something else to get involved in that's opposite who you are. Breaking the shell is the point, whatever the method.

P.S. If by some random stroke of craziness you are interested in my suggestion, PM me for the name of my organization so you can take a look. Every chapter is different but I can tell you that I've met some pretty cool people from all over the country and from many different schools just by being involved. And I have some good friends I frequently hang out with today from the experience.

Is he in a smaller school? Moving to a bigger one helped for me. Not that I was directly bullied, but there was one that was a pain in the ass for everyone, yet even the teachers did not do anything about it.

You know what? Your brother should just fight this bully. Schools will only do something when a fight breaks out. Trust me, it happened to me in middle school. Your brother might get in trouble (which is BS) but at least something will change.

Fights happen all the time at my school. Nothing Changes. :/

I'm with SaM here, fighting only makes things worse for all involved.

I'm sorry, but you should take talk like that to a backwater hippie commune where such idiocy belongs.

not Getting into a fight where his brother can get seriously hurt is idiotic?

Cmon now. Seriously hurt? Unless he has osteoporosis or something along those lines that is very doubtful.

In all seriousness, what else can he do? Ask assistance from the teachers? Won't help. Ask them nicely to stop? Yeah, right.

The only forseeable way out of this is for him to stand up for himself. If he does not learn now, he never will. And then he will continue to be a weak little incompetant his entire life. Is that worth saving a few bruises?

Serious injury is NOT out of the question. In junior high, this kid had it out with somebody who'd been bullying him. The bully was freakishly strong and managed to shatter the kid's orbit bone.

I was bullied in elementary school. The bullies usually called me names and did disgusting pranks (I recalled one time one bunch of girls smearing bird poo all over my school uniform). While they are not as bad as getting punched in the face, it was horrible to live through it. I didn't have a backbone until I got into high school, when I finally stood up against all the name calling and be completely calm about it. It stopped, but I knew that the nasty girls talked behind my back all throughout high school (just a note that I went to an all-girls school). Not that I gave a fig what they said behind my back since then because they are selfish ****es to talk down on everyone like that. Of course that died down when I reached 10th grade, with the preoccupation with boyfriends and exams. :P

But what I noticed was that teachers didn't give a rat's arse about bullying. I have several friends at university who are studying education, and what I noticed is the lack of classes that prepare you for dealing with kids and these scenarios. They train teachers to have the skills and knowledge, but not an understanding to kid's behaviour as it would take longer to train the teachers (since there's a very strong teacher shortage). Which is why I never wanted to go into Education, because I will never understand kids.

So what? What I did was wrong and stupid I admit it, but I can't go back. I am not defending myself either because you're right. At least partially. And you have any idea of what it means bullying in a school of SEVENTY students? 20 teachers, 70 students. It was more of a psychological war to be the "coolest" as the idiots in my class would put it. Everyone was a bully in that school and those that weren't, were not bullied. What I did was scare people a bit, but NOT out of boredom. I just stated that most bullies do that. I did not. And what people did to make me bully? Well, they pretty much lowered my self esteem to zero, put a bad word of me to the teachers so that I should do every exam at least TWICE to pass it and so on.
It's not what you think it is, it's not the same in all of the planet.
