Why didn't DA2 Tie more with the DA Origins and awakening? Why didn't we actually have investment monies flowing from the Bone Pit...So we could do more bigger things? I mean we did work to get part ownership so instead of 3 gold why aren't able to get gold over time bonuses for keeping the bone pit from falling into neglect and ruin and being overrun by Darkspawn and dragons?
Why didn't we get to see more of the TREASURE FORM THE lost thaig? Why was the expedition so Short? and why didn't we get to go back there to collect more goods?
I love the idea of the champion and his/her rise from a lowly refugee...(and personally I would have loved to see more of that first year as a indentured servant to the mercs as part of the quest line to begin the champions rise to power, which should have led to various possible outcomes)
Also, Why is only Lelianna the only serious tie From DA Origins and awakening to DA II. I will never understand why is she only one and is in an additional addon you had to buy less than a week after the release of the game? Why does Lelianna only show up in this addon and in the trailer at the end of the game? is she literally that much of an afterthought?
Why are there no more ties with Lothering? What were you thinking about starting the game with Lothering already annilated instead of giving us a a chance to spot our Hero of Ferelden in Lothering prior to its demise and a chance for some xp there? Instead we have a manipulated beginning that has only a single direction...exile via the witch of the wilds. This could have been a pivotal plot change but no... you choose for us right then and there ... then subjugated us (Another Manipulation) into indentured servitude for the next year upon our arrival in Kirkwall. No chances at any other option. YOu manipulated a sister or Brother dies in the opening... which was our first clue we would not have any say in the story line and potential choices. Lame.
OH okay there is that brief quest bringing Nathaniel Howe but thats pretty much a joke of a side quest.
Oh and what about the Gray Wardens? All we get from the Grays is "See ya have a good time we can't get involved in a political squabble but good luck to you and heres this crappy trinket"
All the while Nathaniel is in the deep roads on Gray Warden orders to find out what the champion of Kirkwall found when they could have asked her in Kirkwall but would have rather deal with Varric's lame ass brother...Hello
but these brief encounters with Gray wardens are mundane and well frankly useless except as xp gainers oh right and that crappy ring.
By the way I love Varric's character and I do love the Seeker outtakes. Varric kept me going through many of the manipulated areas with his antics and loyalty. Isabella is another wonderful character...I hated Fenris, I hated this thing you call Anders...I call him Anti-Anders. It was never explained as to how Anders left Fled the gray Wardens? And this is a BIT ESSENTIAL to the building of the character. So this Anti-Anders goes and tries to forget his past a warden and comes to Kirkwall to treat people for free and then that same generous person blatantly attacks the the Holy Mother of the Chantry in Kirkwall and Kills her...out of character.. and consequently Anti-Anders. Justice or no you used Justice as a convient truth to manipulate the character of Anders and I gladly killed the bastard. Mainly out of disdain fo what Bioware did to Anders character. Lame
Frankly DA II is a disappointment to me overall with the exception of the changes in Interface which I find very good indeed and applaud that. And Varric and Isabella. I didn't even Like Meredith that much I tolerated her. I never used Fenris or Anders unless I was made too by the story or companion quests. Aveline was to damned fickle for me and was frankly the most reliable Tank so I used heri instead of the creep Fenris. Sebastian was fine.. I liked the character.
One thing I truly can't stand about DA as a whole is the physical world which is confined overall to specific laid out playing zones with very tight boundaries that actually look like boundaries rather than real world physical obstacles I mean come on this is 2011... up your graphics game Bioware. I know you want people to develope thier stories and need to pay attention to this for coding purposes but the play fields look like crap and are too confined and they never change. Same room same boring cvern instance with a door closed to deliniate one form another. Running into different building to find the Same pathetic layout as in the previous one with door that can open and close, which might make it easier for the game devs to create a new instance like building of cavern but in actually looks like a cheap loser pathetic afterthought to hook gamers into the story.
Please After developing a good following from DA Origins and Awakening you could have made your zones a bit more individual. This really bothers me. Frankly for the 60 Bucks Plus an additional $20 for the new addons WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN APART OF THE RELEASE I feel ripped off by Bioware on these issues alone. The next several addons should be for free from Bioware for having sold the game in less than a week later make you buy 2 essential addons for $20 more...what nice little .!. to your customers bioware and frankly I noticed that.
Oh and why can't characters jump? FFS JUMPING IS FUN
To me DA II's story line feels manipulated at every turn, which I did feel some in DA Origins and Awakening but not quite as manipulated as DAII. I do not beleive Anders/Justice would have ever done what they did in DAII. Its contrived. As far as the Mage/Templar war?
For me this DAI is a 4.5 on a scale of 1- 10 10 being the best. DA Origins and awakening I felt was at least a 6.5 to a 7. Other games I am currently playing are Witcher which so far I am rating at 6.5 and not in this genre AION, EVE and AoC.
Full disclosure I have plyed through twice once as Mage Once as Rogue both on hard mode.. I won't play thorugh on the warrior class as the game just is now plain dreadful after 2 times. I kept wanting the second time to be over so the third time through is out of the question...$80 bucks....2 times through.. Hell I hav 6 characters in AION and its only $150 bucks for a year of game play. Yes its unfair to compare RPG with MMORPG's but how do MMORPG's do more with graphics, Environment flexibility, character developement, instance, zones and plain creativity than do RPG game companies within a smaller world and presumably less expensive to produce?
