Forgive me if this topic has been brought up before, but I was wondering if anyone felt the same?
The main act quests didn't really make much of an impact on me at all, unlike Origins when I was rushing through the side-quests to get to the main quest with Loghain and the Archdemon. I felt excited by the sidequests in Origins, but the main story was so compelling I found myself eager to reach those points in the game (like Landsmeet, Howe vs Cousland, Morrigan's Offer etc). In DA2, I found myself strolling through the sidequests and dreading the mainquests, I think it's because I felt like the little sidequests were far more well-written than the main plot. For example I thought the Magistrate's Orders was far the best bit of writing in the entire game.
I guess I just got confused with what the main narrative of the storyline was, for at least in the sidequests my Hawke had some sort of purpose and a goal to reach.
I enjoyed the side-quests rather than the act main quests
