Is it possible (via scripting, anything) to make armor require the only the higher of the two stats? Basically, I'm asking for an "or" instead of an "and." 20 stregth or 20 constitution, 20 dexterity or 20 cunning, instead of requiring both.

I don't want no requirements at all. I like requirements. But I want to be able to put Merrill in armor without pumping up her strength. I want to put Fenris in stuff while focusing in cunning instead of constitution for defense.

Is something like this at all possible? Thanks in advance :wizard:

Yeah, dual requirements are very annoying. I second this motion.

To dynamically change the requirements dependent on which you meet seems like a lot of work. I do however believe its possible.
Since requirements are stored as item properties isn't it easier to brake only halve of them. so everything would only require either str,dex or mag.

Because then blood mages still have to pump strength D:

I'm not sure how much this would affect game balance. Does anyone want to think about it? Is a tank who specs for cunning instead of constitution really overpowered when they wear the same armor? Is a blood mage who specs magic instead of strength too powerful compared to a mage who specs for willpower (and wears mage armor instead of warrior armor)?

I'd be all for this. This drove me batty as a pseudo-tanking dual wield rogue -- I wanted to push more into cunning than dex.

Well, now it has to happen. It's been decreed.

ROYALLY.

I could probably do this. Let's see...

What if I made it so that magic/strength/dexterity were interchangeable and same with cunning/wisdom/constitution?

If I understand what you're saying, then that's exactly what I'm asking for :)

So, an item might require 21 of *stat*, and *stat* could be magic or will, because they're interchangeable?

Actually I meant the offensive stats (magic, strength, dexterity) would be interchangeable with each other. And, the defensive stats would be interchangeable with each other as well. So as long as you pumped 1 offensive stat and 1 defensive stat you would meet the requirements for any item.

Oh! That would work just as well! Actuallly, I think that would work even better!

Done =)

The currently controlled character is used by the script, and it only executes when you first enter the menu, so to equip a different character you will need to exit the menu first and fully switch to the other character then open the inventory screen again.

The modifications to the items can't be undone, so try it out for a little bit before you continue your game.

A question... you say that the changes can't be undone... but what if my highest offensive/defensive stats change? Can I open up my inventory again and have the requirements re-adjusted?

I don't anticipate ever changing what stats I'm using as a practical matter, but that would be a way of reverting the changes to an item... just use a Maker's Sigh to adjust your stats and open the menu to change the pieces back.

It readjusts every time you open the menu. By the way, I forgot to mention it does weapons too (though it doesn't matter 90% of the time).
