I saw an interview with David Gaider where he said that Alistair Image IPBis the king of Fereldan and that the Warden died, regardless of what choices we made.

Here is the interview: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/9386107(skip to 06:45).

What do you think?

That was just him stating examples of what canon would be like if they chose to do it, not that those choices are really canon. THINK WITH YOUR DIPSTICK!!!

Out of context much? He clearly just gives an example of what 'canon' ,means and then goes on to say 'Hawke's gender has no canon'

I think if they decide they need Alistair as King of Ferelden, then Alistair will be King of Ferelden. No matter what you did.

Likewise, if they decide the Warden is dead, well . . . Warden will be dead.

And no, the 'Hero of Ferelden' that romanced Morrigan is the default origin. So where's the Warden? What's the natural progression of the relationship with Morrigan? Stepping through the Eluvian. It also accounts for why he dissappeared.

See, the thing is, [and here's where we have been lied to,] is that there IS a canon. Some events [like Leliana] happen a certain way regardless, courtesy of handwaving of the style of 'andraste's ashes rezzed her corpse [even if you defiled them, conveniently swept under the rug]

Bioware has gone on and on about how there IS no canon. I would respect them more if they just admitted to it, but they went to lengths during DA2's development to deny this, even though much points to it.

So what TJPags said. When they need to change history, they will. And deny it the whole time.

ugh.

In game it looks like the default was male cousland who performed the dark ritual with Morrigan. So he lived.

The closest to "canon" we get is that what they put in trailers is what they consider when making the story, and there isn't enough in there that can't be changed easily.
As we can see from the Sacred Ashes trailer, the Warden is a human warrior, with Leliana, Morrigan, and Sten. The only things there that are really aren't open to change are the fact that Leliana and Sten were recruited.
The Destiny Trailer has a Male Blood Mage Hawke , and one of his flashbacks has him kissing Isabela, and walking away from him, blade drawn, so it can be assumed that Isabela came back in their canon.

But then again, if they can manage to program enough into DA3 that they can account for every contradicting possibility, then this post will be entirely meaningless.

Dude, the trailers are probably the least canon things in the entire series.

And here's the kicker, there are no glowy red eyes for men in the game.
There are for women, because modders can apply Meredith's effect to Hawke. But men? Out of luck! Trailer fail!

Keep waiting. Origins never got the glowing blue eyes.
And to really make it hurt Anders ended up getting it in DA2!

Oh yeah I got that mod. I was expecting awesome glowy red eyes for my blood mage man!Hawke and I got the blue eyes and I was like WAIT WHAT IS THIS? And then I went back and reread the instructions *grumbles*

Did I mention I ADORE mods? :wizard:
I think they're working on the glowy demon hands too, they're in the game files apparently.

Really? Then why they weren't implemented in the game itself?

I read this academic article about how Alistair is the true protagonist of DA:O an idea I personally actually like.

No. The "Hero of Ferelden" default didn't romance Morrigan. He did not step through the Eluvian. He didn't even go do Witch Hunt.

Glowing blue eyes? Easy, drink some Purity potion (or something like that), the glow even automatically turns off when you talk to people!

Well they are if you kill Ogres with crushing prison (I think it's the same thing).

Only if you have the Black Emporium. Plus, mods make it so much more convenient and immersive (glowing eyes activate on sustained abilities).

Pretty much the only one. Though Hawke [or whomever] doesn't rip them apart, 2 huge hands just appear and the Ogre explodes into chunky giblets.

Would make sense story wise. Hawke and the Warden are best off dead for DA3 IMO. So much story potential and meaning by taking that route.

Dead? No, I think that's unfair to players. But uninvolved? That's absolutely my wish. I'm content for Leliana and my warden to fade into the background of history. But, BioWare apparently has other plans for my carmine songbird. ****es.

Gonna have to say that I view things completely oppositely, MKD - unceremoniously killing off the Warden and Hawke offscreen wrecks boatloads of story potential and would kill any sense of connection a great many players have to the  plot.

I just said "unfair to players," but basically this :P
